Atmosphere polish

Into the Darkness is being worked on currently. For the first chapter of this game i will add a huge amount of polish in to the atmosphere.

I barely know what will happen here since the game can throw anything at me. With the R.O.S system in place i could easily pass through a hallway without having a scare, but that's my experience. Your experience will be much different however.

I'm still in the development stage of this first so called chapter. I'm taking it slow and easy, thinking what to do next.

Almost every object in the game is interactive. So you better be careful on what you do or else you may end up dying.
It's a lot of events, i just hope it doesn't lag a lot for those for weaker PCs.

I recently took the liberty to research creepy stuff such as rituals.
and boy i think i took it a little bit too far this time around.
I fear that people would rather quit playing the game then keep playing it.
Maybe some balance should be added just to make the user feel a bit safe.

What do you think guys?

  • I think…. go full out creepy. I bet you can't make a game that makes me feel scared… without using sudden loud noises (which is just a fright).

Can I play the demo? From here I'm not sure if the maps are too dark, and what effect that has on playability.

  • I believe that there should be some safe points BUT it must be unexpected, Do u know what I mean? The player doesn't know if he/she is in a safe area or not. Or if the next area is safe or not but there must be some safe points. When the player pass an area, He/she would say "boy it was so scary and breathtaking! I need a break!" or " That area was calm, I feel a bit safe now, but how can the next area be?"
In the first one choice is yours, You can send him/her to another creepy area to double scare him/her or send him/her to a peaceful place to take some rest. Just don't forget to make that peaceful area suspected and let the player wonder if this place is safe or not.
I haven't developed a horror game before lol it's what I got from scary games.
