Inactivity D:

Marked

Hey everyone :)

Haven't made a blog post in a long while, and also kinda bored so I'll I thought I'd make one.

First of all I am going to be pretty inactive for a while with exams. I have my first on the 29th of October and the last on November 4th. So I don't suspect I'll be doing too much before then.

I think we've all noticed a pretty big drop in activity on the forums. Lately I've found myself thinking about when is the right time to stop. I'm wondering if RMXPUnlimited has already peaked and whether to be competitive in terms of activity within the RPG Maker community as a whole, is a task one step too far.

Activity in terms of posts per day has never really got me down. Its more so when members decide to leave, or just stop posting anything. For example, Arkbennett who told me he has just lost interest.

I think there's still a lot of potential for the site though. Its just whether or not its worth putting in all the effort to make it better and to make it active. Things like the scripts archives which are one of our most popular sections (in terms of pageviews) took a fair bit of time to setup and are unique feature I think, and to spend a day writing a script that allows members to add scripts to it, and not have it used even once, is very disheartening.

Certainly being an admin is less fun that it used to be.

The major point of this blog post is whether or not it is worth continuing into the future with RMXPUnlimited and whether its worth the time improving it. Feel free to comment below :)

I am a busy beaver. Making them RMXP games and series, so I don't post too much. D=

For some reason this site loads slower than any other site I visit. I check up on this site a lot, but it could be a whole lot more if this was fixed. D:

It's not just your site that's suffering inactivity. It's an eerie amount all around the RPG Maker websites. Not even quite sure why as there are several people still making games. Though I do feel like the site could actually be a lot more active. We'd just need the right tools/ideas to do so.

I've noticed this too. Almost everytime I login, which is like by the hour, no one else is logged in either. I say a event should come up, like a community wide project or something.

The frontpage in particular loads pretty slow for me. I think I know why and I can improve that a little.

I was thinking of redoing the look of the site. Something more gamey, I suppose. Also I was thinking of creating RMVX/XP portals which display recent content from the forums for those engines.

And also another idea I had is to setup a page where members can change their own usergroups so that they can see a page of support/requests topics by members, so its easier to help out and topics don't just get lost. Or something like that. Or, sidebar like recent posts that shows recent projects, tutorials or scripts, or, support/requests topics. So basically getting the content out there so its more accessible.

Looking at rpgmakervx.com's stats, it seems you're right about the loss of inactivity: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/rpgmakervx.net I'm not too sure about the others, but this site is the major one.

Haha yeah... I duno though, just thinking of how/when we're gona go down, whether the staff are getting out what they put in. Not in selfish way, but y'know, are we helping people, are we motivating members to make games, etc.

...Dunno what to say...one of the main reasons I've been thinking about, well...leaving. It seems like that for every place I go to online...Like I said I haven't touched RMXP in a LONG time, so I kinda feel...weird still being here, lol.
