I learnt my hatred for this long ago when I found out ronald was doing something with children >_>;

It is, and I'd advise a tablet if you can get one, likewise mouse can do the same job, but it just takes longer. I've used a mouse 10+ years and I have a tablet I bearly use simply because I'm more used to the mouse. (Probably also because my tablet isn't pressure-sensitive, which is also quite vital)

This project seems rather more high caliber than it actually is, noting your comments at the end and lack of screenshots of projects on top of the fact you've had a history of dumped projects isn't too promising. (That may be a one due reason why no-one on this board has volenteered yet) Whilst in the early stages of my own team 3D project I posted some form of progress, perhaps the software you're using would be a good remedy while you can't post actual in-game content. As a final note, if you need a 3D modeller, chances are you won't get it for free unless you want a crap job. Its very difficult to do, since I've had experiance creating 3D title graphics in the past. That said, its easier to work with and animate than 2D graphics. As a final little note, the link to 'Myke's concept sketch is nil but working and your trace of it could perhaps be more solid and defined, as it looks more flesh than metal. (Shift + Click with a brush is good for rigid edges)

@Kirashi: I don't say things for no reason, he did edit it .__. Anyway I agree that screenshots should be required. I know they are in many other places and I don't know why this forum should be exempt.

You don't need to take a screenshot from the event layer of the rpgxp window. Just make sure 'Dim to layers' is unchecked and you can take a better screenshot from one of the other three layers. Other than that, if you've planned this story out well before-hand, it shouldn't seek the fabled 'dumped projects' section. The first post could do with a more eye-pleasing layout, since it means alot to first time lookers, perhaps you could add bold and underline tags for headers and italics for quotations. I'm going to go an ask a few questions to develop your concept, because it needs a tad more work. Feel free to put your answers in spoiler tags. > Why the name Seriph Acheho? > How is it that this unknown force can only be quelled by ninja's? What do they have others don't? >"only Seriph has the unknown power of this clan that can destroy the evil threat" - Is he the last ninja or something of the like? Or did he perhaps discover something? Its somewhat hard to elaborate between the two on how its written so perhaps you could elaborate. I shalln't say much more due the reason that it would be stupid of me to re-elaborate things already said.

I think you neglected to add credits to that list. Crediting sources by other authors you used to make your project is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.

Thanks, comments are all the donations I need to keep this project going. I've been working relentlessly the past few days adding and enhancing the gameplay, while developing and advancing the stories plot. >Added some crappy faceset recolours for better visual imagery on the characters on the first post. >Added an aggro system using events, so some monsters will chase you now. (They'll stop if you get far enough away from them) >Working relentlessly on maps. maps. MAPS. Since the last update, added a whole new massive city of Raven, applied some extra tilesets and custom graphics. Towers, Courtyards, big massive juicy plains, firey pits of Reshi and more =3 >Bigger moveset pool. Spent a decent amount of time collating some new battle animations (only had 4 different ones before) >Learnt a few new things on screentoning, etc, etc. >Added Arrows where transfer locations are. >Revamping OCS with new, less obnoxious HUD. >Larger diversity of NPCs and monsters (Not just recolours anymore lol) And a proper ingame screenshot. Map needs more work. To do: *Advance the plot some more. The action is starting to come in now. *Finish Allan's overdrive animations. (They take awhile because they are a 'bit' cinematic, so I need to do alot of individual framework.) *Finish interiors on Raven city to support the exterior. *Finish modding my totally custom menus :3

Anyone been there yet? Its an epic MMO treat, with a high caliber setting and some nifty graphics to boot. (Please keep this thread clean, W.O.W fans) As a personal experiance, I began playing it as a recommendation from a friend of mine. He wouldn't stop banging on about it, and despite my mediocre insight on all MMO's i dared give this one a try, despite the chaotic 9gb + quantity it ate up on my machine. One issue I had with this, is that i was unsure my pc could handle it. I tried it on the lowest settings, and pushed it up, and gratefully on higher settings it has next to none lag. I love the setting and theme the game provides, as a touchy as i am with layouts. I won't go into details, as I like people to choose to discover themselves, but I really enjoyed the layout and the things avialable for me to do.

The interface is much much simpler than other makers, even moreso than VX. And yes I can port those games to DS. Here is the proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=ES&hl=es&v=tzWUBZ-Qpxg I'm not sure if I can link other RPG sites, so let me know if I can and I'll post the blogs and stuff if you need anymore proof. It IS possible to port RM games onto DS

This idea is washed down to me, I'd rather use the free software EasyRPG to convert my RPG2k/2k3/XP/VX/IGM games to a flash card onto DS. Hey, that supports scripting and all the features those makers provide, this doesn't. It looks fun for beginners and children though i suppose.

Your forgot the image tag on the story panel. Glad to see you used the panel i made you. I should start charging for this soon x3 You also missed Altus's picture and description. -
I'm buying this whether or not I get a PS3 by spring. Hey I really like where this is going, its sofisticated and it has a certain enigmatic aura behind it i can't turn away from. I'm really getting the impression that Jill Nabato (Grey haired female Sephiroth-Vayne wannabe) is gonna be the star antagonist this round, and as sad as it is for me to say I'm sucking it in. Square got me, hook line and sinker. D: I still don't understand what peoples problem with Final fantasy 12 was, i racked up more hours on it than any game I've ever played. The maps were huge for a PS2 console game, all the extra sidequests to do were endless besides the mark hunts and rare game hunting i enjoyed. And the concern with Vaan as the main character, I don't think people understand why he was made so. Square was going for a normal commoner being taken on an impeccable ride with the heir to a throne and a sky pirate. I agree i didn't like his character, but I thought I'd clarify.

Need some help developing this new character I came up with, I'm not good at keeping them interesting. Sprite> Name: Adena Krieger <Krieger is german for warrior. I made the german name up but my sister confirmed it to me as that with the translation. Coincidence huh?> Gender:Female Age of main role(Since RPGs usually focus on multiple points in their life):26 Race:Human Nationality: Metallian (Continent of Metallia*) Appearance: <See above> White hair > inherited from her fathers side, who was from the continent of Mutane, where white-haired races of human are commonplace. Coal Rune Pendant Black Crestlich armour (The material plating on a monster called Crestlich, which resembles a black heavy armoured bird with gold decor) Weapon of Choice: Longsword, but her trademark weapon is the Goldbyte <also a longsword, but a jewel encrusted black and gold variety, to compliment with her armour> Personality: Somewhat unfeminine, self disipined and well-mannered. She will now and again become clouded in her own thoughts. History: >Her father moved back to the continent of Mutane a few years after her birth and ten years later, she becomes curious what became of him. Her mother told her "He went back to help them," simply, and nothing more. >At the age of 11, she decides to join the newly founded Crusaders guild, a military squadron that replaced the CMD which had moved its station to Quilaski. The reason for her joining was due to her following her fathers steps, vowing to help him. However, gaining access to career was somewhat difficult at the time, due to alot of sexism conflicts. >At 17, the trainees take their final exam to graduate as official knight of the Crusade, the practical training ground, percieves difficult for many, but she manages to pass. >On a mission 5 years later, she is issued to go to the continent of Mutane and work on patrol. She befriends a man named Hertz Minton, who is working with her on the same mission. They encounter a black Crestlich, a cocatrice-like shelled bird monster, which decimates most of the force on patrol. Hertz and Adena are ambushed. They fight the monster well despite the ambush, but a steady stalemate ensues between them both. The unrelenting attack from the giant bird catches Adena off-guard at one moment, it was all that was needed to kill her. However, Hertz steps in at the last moment sacrificing himself. Stained in his blood, Adena picks up her sword and takes the Crestlich down in one last, fell strike. She uses its shelled armour as her main armour later on as a momento of Hertz and the Crestlich. Development: >In recent light of a great disturbance in the continent of Quilaski, where it is said the brothers; Galadius of Chaos and Agnisus of order fought, she begins to become curious at the state of the world. However, her thoughts come to light when she is sent on a new mission, once again to Mutane. Reluctant to go, her restraining mind forces her although at the circumstances that faced her it would have been wise to turn back. Although I'm not far enough into the character development to decide the details of the mission, she encounters the hex blighted area of Mutane, the atmosphere alone fills her mind with sorrow and fear and is encountered by a strong form of **'Overcome' that attacks her. She manages to fight it off eventually, but under unusual circumstances that it flees. In light of what I want to achieve as a 'plot device' is that she is contaminated by a small dose of 'Hex' during the fight, so that she will not meet the same fate as her attacker. She would be in a race against time to find a cure, but at the same time, use the infected hex allows her to touch into the dark magic arts. Relations with other characters: <I didn't list some of them because I may not use them or haven't decided on any significance around Adena yet> Kadame: Kadame was one of the people who trained with Adena at 11, since he shares her age. He made good friends with her during that time, and doesn't regret it. Although now he is one of the leading commanders of the Crusaders, he still vividly remembers her. Kiara: Kiara is a holy preistess in Metallia, and protects the essence of order. She tries to attack Adena at first because of her dark powers, but realised that her gaining them was of unfortunate circumstances. Extra: *Metallia: Metallia is the western continent of Eden who believe in more modern methods of culture compared to Mutane, whereas Quilaski is a mix of both cultures. The Metallian empire is generally more stuck up, looking down on the other continents, (Quilaski being newlyfound and Mutane contaminated in hex). ** The Overcome: A half decayed being that folk regret calling a species. Any species and any creature, including plants can become an 'Overcome' within the meanders that they are exposed to the hex long enough. Due to this, the race is highly diverse some are winged and some are more suited to an aquatic environment.

Fangames seem like a great idea to make, but in all honesty, they are much harder to deveop than an indie project. Care for me to explain why? Its due to the general nature of the game itself. The developer had a certain invision while making it that a fan could never recreate, on top of the fact that their would be alot of fans of the series would probably disagree with the events and circumstances that occur. Fangames are also linear and lack creativity compared to an indie idea, and that fact can be weighed on all the other factors that cause us to lose motivation in game making. As a personal preference, a successful project takes alot of preplanning and a bit of research and notes. Don't get me wrong, but a lot of people don't think that sort of thing is important, it really does help.

I'll make a review when I get the chance, but at the moment, i really don't have time for anything like that. Thread deserved it, since I don't imagine others having the time to right something of an acceptable quality, although some will get done eventually.

They are there.

Two renders i did as soon as I got twisted brush on my pc. I'll post more stuff soon, but really, I need to post something thats taken me more than just 10 minutes at some point >_> Time taken: 10 minutes each.

+ Reputation Just given you some rep for that. Thanks for the script. I'll fiddle around with it, see what works and maybe even implement it. Thanks.

I concur. This is the only example I've seen so far that Square-enix cares for its oldies:- especially Final Fantasy V, which I'm still hoping they'll push out a 3D remake for.

A few primary things to bear in mind with cinematics. Lighting: Lighting is an important function as a mood-setter. I usually use the tint screen R-85,G -85,B 0,Grey 0, for night time scenes, but R-135, G -135, B -53, Grey 50-100, works really well too, especially misty or foggy settings. To give people an omnious or sad feel, make it dark. If its an amusing or bright scene, compliment it with sunshine. Making extensive uses of fogs work really well, Lens flare is a popular one for daylight, and mist is good for dungeons. And nothing stops you from doing a sharp cut (Tint screen to black, duration 0 frames) now and again. Best for cliffhangers or tense scenes. Setting Where is the place set? Does it fit the mood setting your going for? What's the significance of the objects in your scene? Why are the characters there? Sound Nothing is stopping you from mixing silence, sound effects and music. Alot of people slip up when they figure that music makes their game awesome. Sound effects do too! Try to fit some in where you can, to make the area more believable. Silence is perfectly legal as well, say it can be used post the climax of a dramatic event. Have you: -Used sound effects in your scene? -Have you used complimenting music? -Sometimes its perfectly legitamate to use music that opposes the scene (Say the magic roundabout scene when someone is being tortured), but thats more for the mind-bending horror. Characters: Who are the characters? What is their purpose for being in the scene? What is going to happen in the scene. Of course, planning out scenes does take some pen-to-paper work too. I find myself writing down EXACTLY what is going to occur in each scene in my game, the actions, the character movements, and significance, etc, etc. You don't have to write alot, just a few notes how it works out, but it definitely helps me getting my project done.
