Well I'm just saying there's plenty of pokemon games where you're not a trainer. Your job in this game wont be to catch a party of pokemon to defeat the gym leaders and make it to the pokemon league, but that to me is what makes it more indulging. The difference is that its not typical, and you won't expect the end results before you beat it. I know what you mean that its probably not what alot of fans are looking for, But I'm mostly making this for me Just because i love the idea of pokemon, I just wish they would try to broaden it a bit. Targeting children is great, but I think they can reel in adult gamers more often is the deepen the story and gameplay, Like what i'm trying to do here.: O ~~~~~ Also, on this game note, been sick last few days - getting back to my project tomorrow. Sorry chaps :(

Sorry but I don't. I think you should play it before you hate on the name. This is supposed to be a new type of Pokemon Series for a Reason, that's why I'm starting at the beginning with a different storyline. After catching 600 pokemon throughout the past few games, doing the same thing over and over again is hella boring. Besides, there's 500 pokemon fan games that already do that, so why would anyone want to touch mine if its the same as the other look-alikes? I'm trying to be different, you don't have to like it just because its not your Cookie-Cutter Pokemon.

No. you're not trying to catch all 151 pokemon, if that's what you mean. But you can end up getting any pokemon you want but its situational and you don't need them to win the game. It'll be easier to explain once i get the story fully established and stuff.

Its sorta hard to explain. You are a trainer but how the story plays out pokemon are uncatchable. You do get an ability to reclaim the pokemon to your side which is pretty much catching, and then you can use them in battle. So you can catch pokemon, just not the way you would do it in a regular pokemon game. Im not finished with this because its not at the top of my to do list. XD once i finish how it works ill post a full dialogue.

I didn't want to explain this in detail because its really confusing without seeing what i mean. I'm going to try to explain this. Depending on different choices, you obtain a power that lets you reclaim the pokemon to the light. It becomes part of you and you obtain its powers/ ability to use it in combat. Think of it like catching a pokemon and then having the ability to do certain things while you use it, and receiving certain bonuses. Obviously im still tweaking it, so i didn't say anything about it :P Still deciding on how you use that power, whether it be the unit has to be near death before you can reclaim its powers or something of another effect. I'm almost 100% sure i'm not going to have a battle scene like this: Encounter pokemon battle it get it low throw pokeball you caught pidgey!@! yay! ~~~~ But i do want to have things that go along with the storyline, Like you end up finding an Eevee that happens to be fending off Primeapes attacking Viridian City. This is just an example, but you would help it and be able to take it along with your journey. Pokemon in this game I view as like Summons. If you've ever played Kingdom Hearts, they'd so something like that, only i plan on doing more with mine. Making them almost become a part of you. Not going into too much detail, because its too much spoilers. But to answer you, you will be able to have pokemon do things for you. Will you throw and catch each pokemon and have a party of only pokemon? No. Will you party alongside pokemon and have them battle with you/ effect you in a multitude of ways? Yes.

To make it easier on you i only need the original pokemon 151 just for this game (will need the rest in the future but thats a long way away), This game is the kanto region based on red/blue/yellow/green and only contains those original pokemon. I plan to make sequels which go on and on like the games currently do. For the main character, I dont have one yet. want to try your luck at making me on?just an overworld one for now. Give it a shot. i have no idea ill look at that sprite in a bit, right now having issues starting my game. :X

My game Starts out like your ordinary pokemon game. A professor gives you the basics, you shrink down into little you. Only, this is where it changes. Storyline: Characters: Battle System: Q: What do you need help with? A: Making tiles/ Sprites. I have alot of ideas and I can't do everything because my experience in all of the areas required isn't as broad as I would like. if you're willing to help, and can Sprite, Make/Edit tiles, please lend us a hand. I need especially atm tiles of buildings/ terrain thats destroyed and fits the "pokemon" look. Obviously ill show you what i have so far and would love to see what you can Do. A2: Battle Sprites. Not worrying about these yet because they're probably going to be the most tricky to come up with. If you have experience for making bsprites for types of battle systems like the one above, I'd love some info. Q: Anything else? A: Yes, Also would like overworld animations. I'm not sure how to explain this, but lets say I wanted to have Pokemon using skills in a custom Event made in the town. Well, I would require moves, or animations, for example if Charizard used Fire blast I'd like to be able to show it being used. So the people can recognize the skill as it should look from manga/ game. Obviously that'd be difficult, and i'm sure thats one of the last things to worry about for now. A2: Also, I wish someone who was just god-mode at RPG XP could just teamviewer with me and if i had questions could just show me how to fix them. Honestly an hour of that would just make me a better game maker x10. If i had someone like that on my team i'm pretty sure I wouldn't be having the issues i'm having now with my game. Q: Wish List? A: How I would love to have 3d Beautiful Cutscenes. Would love to show you wake up and say what was that noise after hearing a roar, then showing a beautiful Cutscene of Charizard flying through your town roasting your buildings and townfolk. that'd be epic. Of course, thats doesn't seem to be doable and I'm moving on without this for now. A2: Voice Acting. I can do some good voices, but I doubt i know any girls that would be interested, or if this even matters right now. This is probably last thing to do on the list, because There's plenty of more important things to worry about. A3: Choices effecting Storyline. I would love to have alternate endings, choices effecting gameplay, Options to acquire different parties, Etc. My team So far: Me: Everything. whatever needs to be done i'm the one working the longest on it. I'm not the best at any of it, and I always encounter problems because I suck. Though I have the ideas and the will, And i'm hoping that will push me to the end. Phoenix: Scripter. Hes studying Ruby. Going to help me later.( Not much time to contribute, would love someone else.) Inari: Scripter. Majoring in coding/programming. Doesn't know ruby but doesn't need to. He's a code boss. Except, He's hella lazy and rarely wants to do any work. DeviantArtGuy: He's making my sprites here and there. not much time to contribute either, would love someone who I could ask and they could do a multitude of work for me. Diagostimo: He's been a huge help to me. Showing me things, teaching me priorities, and resizing pokemon sprites as well as eventing. He's busy, and therefore I could still use someone who could contribute time to spriting, as well as the things below. Emmy: She's my hottie musician. plenty of freesites for pokemon music too, So unless someone specializes in making/finding pokemusic i'm p covered here. Still working on that. of course you wouldn't find that out till later and I don't think I'm going to give the reason i Decide on because that would be an epic spoiler. I'll take suggestions, but that one will be the one choice i don't think ill share with the public.

Lmao. Pretty much. I should figure a way to edit the dex to show how many times you've killed certain guys lmao. I'm learning mapping and making it as i go, so it should look better and better as you go through the game. :o

Hey guys! this is my first game/ first time actually starting a big project so please bare with me, my schedule of "Working" on this game varies, some days i feel like doing hours of work and some i wont even open RPG xp. So for now, please just give me feedback and ideas and i'll try to get out a working beta in the next coming months. What is Pokemon Dark Sky?: Setting: Main Characters:(More Information to Come.) ~~~~~ Going to edit this later, I just threw out some ideas. Little hasty, give me some ideas! :D~~~~~~~~ Many NPC's in various cities will have the opportunity to aid you in your journey, temporarily or permanently. Thinking of doing it like how star ocean does it, you can have 8 characters in that game but you encounter 10+ and have to choose who you want. Might change it up but i like that idea of everyone playing the way they want to play their journey. Storyline: Battle System: Credit: So far only the Pokemon Essentials System And mr. diagostimo for all of his help in getting me started. Its really early in the morning so i'll edit this later with colors and pictures. Storyline needs to be edited too, i just threw done w\e came to mind without looking at my notes. As of right now what I need help with: 1.)Resizing sprites. Going to post about it in the sprite area once i finish up doing a few things. 2.)This is my first time diving into RPGXP, i've read tuts before and such so my map making and eventing is average or so. Otherwise i'm a little in the dark when it comes to making things look sexy. Making animations, skins, sprites, etc = uncharted territory. IF anyone has any pokemon things they're willing to share or is willing to help, I would be most grateful :) Here's the basics. any questions, please post below. :) I also could use any help that anyone would like to give, so if you have tons of creative things/ ideas for my pokemon game, please don't hesitate to share. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How the game is going: As of June 20, 2011: Reading Through Pokemon Manga since thats alot of what i'm basing this off of. Read to book 40 of 422. Thats the end of Red/Green/Blue. Thats where I will stop for now as thats what mostly will have effect on this game. Yes, if you put things together that means I plan on making sequels, if this one is received well. Game Overall Completion: Storyline: 40% Database: 20% Mapping: 80% ( all towns fully mapped, Just need to add events, Npcs, etc. ) Graphics: 60% ( Need to script/ Edit. ) Music: 0% ( Haven't contacted musicians yet, didn't think i'd be on such a roll ) Scripts: 0% ( Finishing basics before i touch this. ) Overall: 34% We're getting there guys! As soon as i get some sleep ill upload some screens and videos. I spent too many hours on this past few days, need a break.

Nope don't got photoshop. as for now I'm just going to terrain the maps and npcs and such and worry about battle system later. I do think i want to use that ABS, so ill just plan for it for now and slide it in later so i don't have to do the overly technical stuff now. And as for my game yeah ill definitely post it there later today! been busy with work right now, i'll be sure to hop on that in a bit. And another question: is there anyway to make it flow like a pokemon game when i mean like when you move to the edge of the screen it keeps on going? or is it like legend of zelda when you hit the end of the screen, it loads the next map. Do you know what i mean? Like do i have to make a point to transfer to another map or can i make it constant like a pokemon game which never has to load another map, its all up to your movement what you see and where you go if you get me.

The beginning should play out like this so far to how i want things to go - You wake up. head downstairs to find your mother gone, but the house is trashed. You walk outside.. *cutscene* You wonder whats going on (Towns on fire and dead bodies here and there) You enter your rivals house to find his parents impaled and he's wounded up stairs. You converse for a time. - You tell him you'll get help. The other house is crumbled in on itself and you can't go in. You go to Prof Oaks to find him and the remaining people alive and defending themselves in what seems to be a last defense effort. You converse for a bit, tell them about your rival - You and two others go to get him. Outside, you can go towards his house but as you enter you are thrust into battle with the attacker on the village, a pokemon. this is your first battle and its kinda like a tutorial battle. you go save your rival, take him to Prof Oaks, explain whats going on - blah blah, and the story rolls on from there. The cutscene would just take you to Prof Oaks, then from there you could walk with the guys following you to the rival's house, then in the house cutscene with the pokemon, then the battle. Once i figured out how to make a few cutscenes then i'd have it down forever. let me know what you think, of course this needs some tweaking. Another question as i was fiddling with RPGXP- how do you resize sprites? I see that alot of these pokemon are too small to my liking. The bigger ones should match their height description as close as they can, or as close as i can manage. any tips for resizing would be great. Thank you so much! and yeah i have tons of questions, so hopefully i won't be too annoying for you :) this is going to help a ton and i'll be sure to visit each respective forum and give credit where credit is due. And yeah as for the storyline i just wanted to make it a small thing at first starting in the small town you start in, Kinda like an anomaly, after the scare everyone should be like wow this never happens. But then you figure out its happening all over the region, and Oak sends you along with your rival to journey to stop the madness, and to root out the cause. Right now its just an idea but im sure i'll map out more once i get started. Do you think you can link me to a guide or explain? I want to start the game with the general pokemon Intro, but then i want to start with a cutscene. Not sure how to work it. Any details would be cool. 3: Once i decide on my battle system i'll have alot of questions pertaining to setup and interface, but im sure we'll be able to find scripts online to make all that easier. So for now, these are my only concerns. **** The guy with the battle system should get back to me within a day or so, hopefully with a yes, considering his system is amazing. If he does say yes though, it makes this a whole lot harder cuz it looks like you have to make more types of sprite movements and such. An example of the system can be found here: Though it'll be harder to do things with i think in the long run its going to be a nicer fit to my game then the system above.
