    The Generations
  1. Back in 2009 I prototyped the Generations, a game I had been working on for the better part of five years. The game was done on RPG Maker XP, but due to my limited resources I was unable to implement effective scripting or use original graphics and music. As a result most of the content is placeholder for a fully fleshed game I intend to develop using VX Ace. The prototype game that exists right now is about 7 hours long, and I'm expecting the full fledged version to be about twice that length, not because the story is any longer but because the seven dungeons will be split into multiple wings. Story: Progenitor of All, in so whom Nil became All resided over the world as the heavenly sire. The Sire of Heaven has given his angel principles the task of guiding and growing the newborn men on the earth below. The human civilizations sprouted in the four directions, and each civilization is given an angel sovereign. The angels are to watch and protect the people as they mature throughout the ages, and at the end of the test the angel who best handles the task will be crowned the new Sire and Ruler of All. The game is split into 3 generations. The main characters are the angels, who do not age throughout the generations, so that's a good constant. The three chapters of the story and outline are as follows: Generation 1 - Symmetry: Sabotage to God's test through the use of natural disaster and evolutionary stimulants to fastforward and stunt the growth of the human civilizations. Discord among the four angel sovereigns and heavenly battle over the protection of the people Generation 2 - Reconciliation: Birth of the genius to humankind in apology for the strife of Generation 1. The humans come into their own and develop strong economy and industry. Tensions continue to rise and ultimately a new Sire is chosen as the test to watch the people concludes. Generation 3 - Dominion: The new Sire, winner of the trial must maintain his house. The humans have grown rebellious and it will require all of the effort of the new God to maintain order and unity. Characters: The Angel Piety - Right hand of the Sire, Golden Piety is to the story what the archangel Michael is to Christianity. He is the most trusted, most loyal and most powerful of the angels and second in command to the Sire of Creation. He is given the frozen lands of Naztherta as his civilization. His weapon is the flaming sword and his primary battle role is healer. The Angel Gospel - The silver angel Gospel maintains the records and the spoken words of the Sire. He is Piety's best friend in Heaven and second in command amongst angels. Given the swamplands of Doutmoore to grow and direct in the challenge. His weapon is the lance and his primary battle role is damage caster. The Angel Grace - The red angel and muse of the arts. She is given the melodious beaches of Odingham to cultivate music and art among her people. Her primary weapon is the bow and her battle role is melee and ranged damage. Lapis Lazua - The blue angel and youngest of all angel principles. Lazua has grown angry that he was given the civilization with the least commodity in the desert. He seeks to sabotage the divine race in any way possible and cause the other sovereigns to stumble. Details The game follows a story > dungeon > story > dungeon model with the dungeons having all of the combat. There are no overworld encounters or battles outside of the dungeons. Imagine instances in an MMORPG and consider a chapter dungeon to be an instance with 2-3 wings and several bosses. Once a dungeon is complete the story continues until the next dungeon. There are two dungeons in Generation 1, two dungeons in Generation 2, and three dungeons in Generation 3. Seeking: Now that I am looking to go into a version of the game with original resources I'm in need of: Scripters (battle system, events, menus, battle scripts) Spriters (characters, maps and battlers, and panoramas/cutscenes) If this sounds like a project you'd like then feel free to contact me. If you enjoyed ActRaiser on the SNES, then this is sort of a spiritual successor to that game. Quintet is my favorite RPG developer and I wanted to make a game that shared the intense themes of the Soul Blazer Trilogy and the ActRaisers.
