Good morning to you, my newfound friends!
shakey2 replied to TrollerBlader's topic in Introductions and Farewells
Welcome to the community, I am a fellow newbie as well. Your taste in music and games is good. I envy your map making skills, I'm not so talented with maps unfortunately. I am aiming to specialize in story writing, eventing and scripting myself so maybe we can help each other out in the future :) -
Tranquility Park (discussion): Exclusive to RMXPU
shakey2 replied to Enigma's topic in General Game Development
It'd be cool to have a home base where you had to keep repairing it and arming it with traps. Also getting all your base supplies from the outside world and avoiding zombies parkour style, if you had other survivors in your base your base could be attacked which is all the more reason to get supplies and have traps. I would make zombies climb over stuff and have better than normal mobility so the player feels that parkour skill is necessary. Jumping zombies would be awesome too :D can you imagine doing roof running with zombies jumping roof to roof to get at you lol Just some ideas for you :) -

I must ask, have you ever played Eternal Darkness? -
Your friend is lying or imagining things, also in the other guy's case it was most likely a mod. Herobrine was secretly included in a few mods at some point or other including the yogbox before they replaced him with israphael, there is also two mods i know of dedicated to herobrine. Why do I know this? Because players have already torn the minecraft code apart and explored every nook and cranny, there is no code that would produce such an effect. You should tell your friend to lay off the creepy pastas lol they make you paranoid, I haven't played Terraria in months thanks to somebody's creepy pasta :(

[poll]GDU: Sidebar vs Topbar
shakey2 replied to Marked's topic in Feedback, Bug Report and Forum Help
I've not seen what the side bar looks like but I've never been a fan of side bars, I feel the top bar gives it a more clean feeling. -
I'm not wearing any pants o.o

Yeah, I like all the KH chars but this is the image I chose for when I was playing a politics sim mmo. The border is from my time in that game's japan, I was a member of the Imperial Army.

@Jon Bon: thanks for the offer, I don't know any spriters yet so I may take you up on that offer @kellessdee: I noticed that, I have touched on other game makers before myself including Game Maker, I also have quite a few fighter games made with the enterbrain fighter maker on my HD. I may spend a little time on one of the other makers to mess around and break from rpg maker so I might be popping into the other sections as well. Though as for rpg maker series I've found XP is the only one that suits my needs, although I haven't tested Ace yet. The main thing was the layers, the others didn't have as many layers to create more detailed maps which is a huge part in why I went with XP. That said Chrono Trigger is my top 2d rpg and in my top 10 of all genres, I'm sad that very very few games have had a multi-ending system with new-game+, there is so much re-playability to be had.

I am a newb to RPG maker, I saw RPG maker as a fun means to learn a scripting language(ruby) while also realizing one of my dreams and that is to make stories so to speak. I have always had these epics that I wanted to communicate to others, and I mean like an epic play or movie not like epic facepalm or what the word has come to mean on the net. The problem I've always had is finding a medium that I could use to communicate these stories with. I've never been good at art so drawing them was a no go, and books just didn't feel right or rather insufficient. Making some form of movie or other non-interactive media was no good either for similar reasons as the books. Thats where video games come in, it's a medium I can show the story exactly how I see it and the interactivity allows me to show people just how much I've put into these stories. I have plenty of stories already planned out and just need the time and experience to realize them with RPGmakerXP. For my beginning games they will mostly be basic possibly with scripts made by others until I have enough skill to script my own stuff. The stories I have planned will be implemented when I get enough skill to do that. One example of an idea I had for my good games would have a combat system like Chrono Trigger(because the animations are oh so nice) but with a cover system and quite a few other features, basically expanding upon that system, customizing it and making it my own. A multi ending system but far more complex than the chrono trigger's multi ending system, with several possible BAD ends along with good/mediocre ends. I want to make a game where when you make decisions it has a major effect on the story and not just feel like the story is a framework where no matter which side you flip the grid pieces the game isn't just go to area *insert scene depending on choices* go to next area rinse and repeat if you know what I mean. I also want to make a different game that follows one story but you pick what side of the story to play, like say you have 4 characters each sees a different part of the story. But enough about my reasons for picking up RPG maker... I came to this site to learn, get help and eventually maybe be able to help other users as a pay-it-forward for those who have and will have helped me out. I enjoy forum communities and check in them often most the time so you might see me hanging around here a lot. I am a japanophile and a gamer. To put it short I'm into all things japanese this includes manga/anime/TV/vocaloid etc. I have a long history of MMO gaming and have played a good 90% of all mmos to date at some point in time. My console of preference is the playstation series, though I'm currently playing some RPGs on the wii. I also do PC gaming, mostly strategy games, sandbox games and dungeon crawlers. My all time favorite PC game would have to be Populous: The Beginning, and for console Kingdom Hearts. I listen to a variety of music genres but right now my current preference is dubstep and any electronic genre. Favorite artist right now is Flux Pavilion. Please treat me kindly *bows*

Thanks for the answers, really much appreciated. Also added one more thing to original post, if anyone cares to respond. edit: btw, scripts in your sig ironically perfect for the game I'm making. It's reminiscent of a point n click which means i could use most of those scripts :)

I did some hours worth of searching and couldn't find anything on my questions so I'm sorry if this was already asked somewhere. I am a beginner at RPGMXP. 1. Is it possible to have speech text during battle without using a script, not before or after? If not does anyone know where I might find such a script, preferably one I don't have to download as my internet access is very very limited. 2. How do I stop the play from moving during a cutscene? I've seen other XP games do it but I can't seem to figure it out. Oh and does anyone know where I can find a compilation pack full of resources like graphics sounds etc. that I can get in one download? I don't really have time to search around and just wanted to increase the number of resources i have up from the default so I have more variety to work with.
