Back at it again with some more drawings, I doodled a lot in the past couple of months so here they are, generally chronological... from late May to like nowadays. Image is big looool but this was around the first of June? or late May. There's a bg and text but I don't care about it so this is what u get. Unfinished drawing, roughly same time as the other one. There was more stuff but I can't find it so have a bunch of doodles from this month in chronological order, I'm too lazy to get the days for them out rn That's all I can track down for now O: There's more but I'll post it later. I'm taking my first art class this fall semester, so maybe I'll see actual improvement in my art soon o/

Free Music Resource - Over 1800 Tracks
Kitsuki replied to Eric Matyas's topic in Resource Showcase & Critique
This thread has been updating for a long time now. I'll never get tired of seeing the new notifications for your music pop up in my feed. Good stuff, man, good stuff. I'll have to have more listens when I'm not busy, let you know what I think of some of it. -
Drew another thing today, keeping in with my daily drawing. I think I can see a very clear improvement from a few months ago, though this one took me way longer than I would've liked. I made something of an attempt at an entertaining background, but eh, I just said "screw it" and made it some weird... gradient-not-gradient thing instead.

Another day, another sketch. I wanted to pump out a rough thing for some characters I might use in a webcomic someday if my art gets good enough.
-
Been a while since I updated this thread. Might as well do so now... no numbers and dates bc I can't remember that stuff lol. I keep saying I'll add to main post but later : D Some older drawings from about a month ago, when I wanted to practise animatics/posing. Not too detailed, but pretty decent rough sketch imo. Here's another from the same batch, even rougher but I wanted to get the sense of the posture down: And last one of the batch, which is more detailed than the other two were. Around then I decided to stick with the brush that I was using for sketches and to translate them to the final lineart + final product. I like the rough pastel feel of it. It looks more like a paper drawing this way, which is nice. I then proceeded not to draw anything for like a whole month, since I can't be half-assed to focus on much except sleep and food. Only, recently, I started reading a manwha called Noblesse and decided that the art style is super nice, and I want some of that. Same thing happens every time I start reading a new webcomic -- so it's had a bit of an influence on my art style. I went back to drawing for about 20 min and was able to sketch this up. Not too shabby, imo. Not too shabby.

lol accidentally double posted on one of your threads. Someday I'll be able to delete it lmao Rest of the functionality looks good. It might be nice to have simple/advanced reply, like most forums do. Simple for no advanced code/formatting required, and advanced for all the fancy stuff. also, I assume the site isn't a fixed page width, or whatever the proper technical terms are? I'm no expert :P It's not a problem for normal screens, I guess, but if someone wanted to view it in Desktop Mode on mobile, not sure how that'd turn out.

Nice post, Pol! I found this pretty interesting, since I've been in the business of making fangames for a while and haven't gotten any backlash for it. In fact (and, I think this is a result of creating fangames off of an anime rather than an existing game) there is a large group in the fanbase that makes RPG Maker games for this certain anime. I find it pretty interesting; I don't think many other fanbases have had an active part of the community making games independently for the franchise. The creator of the original webcomic/manga even doodled fanart for one of the earliest fangames that existed for his comic, although that was very early in the game — pun not intended. ; ) But he's a pretty chill dude. His manga is comedic, anyway, I have a hard time imagining the artist of Hetalia trying desperately to stop fans from making games off of his characters and stories. The fanbase has been making RPG Maker sprites and resources for his manga for years, now. But, well, he's an independent writer and artist. Corporations and actual game companies, on the other hand, I have no doubt that they are very eager to keep a hold on their materials. Especially if you're making a game with the materials of their games. I didn't really anticipate what your post would be talking about, so I think our two experiences with fangames, or seeing what has become of them, have been pretty different. For the brand that I'm familiar in, the only thing that could get you into the slightest of trouble is using a copyrighted track, and then posting a walkthrough of the fangame on YouTube. But all that will do is take your revenue, not give you a C&D. What troubles are run into the most, from your experience? And I'm curious, actually — what fangames have gotten into the risks/troubles you mentioned? It might be fun to go through those and see what happened to them and why.

Hmm, okay, I'll look through the place some more and figure it out later, because I'm running low on time right now, but: 1) I like the format. Super simple, but still looks great. Easy to figure out, too, unlike a lot of other websites I frequent. You didn't seem to sacrifice simplicity for aesthetic, or aesthetic for simplicity, which is always good. 2) Unexpectedly, no "confirm password". While that makes me glad, somewhat, since I hate confirming passwords (mostly because half the time I get it wrong), but that seems like a practical and helpful feature to have it. As much as I claim to hate it. 3) No email confirming forum sign-up? Okay so that might be a little complicated, I've never built a website 100% on my own, but usually those emails help me to remind me that I'm signed up at that forum already, that I have a username and don't have to make a new account, and sometimes those emails also have passwords, which is super helpful to me, Because my memory is total shite. 4) I'm able to see a moderate button on my post (which I thought, for a sec, could make sense), but I was seeing it on other peoples' posts, too. The button, luckily, isn't interactive. I can also see edit on their posts as well, but none of the buttons on that bar are really useable. I can't report or quote other peoples' posts, which are things I'd probably want to do. 5) Overview of the forum with all the threads note that the threads were created by "Author". I'd prefer to see a username, as that's what I'm used to -- especially if I'm looking for a thread by a specific person -- but I can't figure out if that was intentional. Do you have titles other than "author"? 6) It'd be awesome if the "Latest Posts" section was interactive. I think you're working on that, though, just noting. 7) More content options in the future? Like images, embedded videos, fonts/other stuff, etc. I'm also sure you're working on this as well. The posting format is good, though, like I said. I like it a lot. I'll go through everything more later, I ran out of time RIP. Soon, though!

I like having the option to customise like it is, now. I set my name in the Refinery as my actual first name, last initial. Personally, I kind of enjoy seeing people's names in the Refinery (eg Roody's, Omars, etc). It doesn't have to be the full name -- but it's kinda nice to see users in the forums with their usernames, and then having a sort of throwing in an irl element in the Refinery. It's probably supposed to seem professional? I'm guessing, anyway. But it feels more personal for me. Maybe because I've been in and out of this site over a period of a few years, but yeah. I like it lol

Aw, shoot. I forgot about these videos I had lying around, so I'm gonna just double post so the last one doesn't get too crowded. So I tried to make an animatic. These parts are pretty short, but I haven't had time to work on them, early. I think this was... mid Feb? Late? Video 1. Video 2. I did the first video after I drew the bits for the second part, so the first one is better imo. Song is "Helpless" from Hamilton.
