Climbing Ladders in an IG Maker Platformer
MaverickHunterDBoy replied to MaverickHunterDBoy's topic in Engine Discussion
I am currently working on plans for my first IG Maker game (as of this reply, I just finished sketching the regular--i.e., non-boss--enemies, and will work on them soon). It's just I need to know for future reference how to implement climbing. But, I'm gonna venture the guess I'd need to make a gadget (one of those "invisible" (i.e. spriteless) gadgets) for that, and make a switch for the climbing that turns off when the player has let go (be it made it to the top or bottom, or when the player jumps off). -
I posted in the RPG Maker Forums, but in case no one on there has an answer... When it comes to IG Maker, I'm kind of an "uber-noob". For platformers, I'd like to learn how to make a player character climb ladders (be they ladders with rungs, rope ladders, or whatever). The sample platformers had some ladder titles, but not really how to implement them to let the player climb. I ask because somewhere down the road I want to make some platformers where the players can climb ladders, ropes, etc. Mainly have the player grab a ladder when "up" is pressed, maybe some way of attacking (in some games) while on a rope/ladder, the player can also get on the ladder if he/she is on the top of it and "down" is pressed, and also letting go if they reach the top or when "jump" is pressed. Any pointers are appreciated.

Is it possible to perhaps make a Mega Man (JP: Rockman) fangame with IG Maker? Just thought I'd ask out of curiosity.

Gang, I got word from an internet friend that CloudFlare has had a data leak. Paypal, Amazon, and a long list of other sites have been affected by this leak. Don't know if GDUnlimited is attached to CloudFlare, but better safe than sorry--you might wanna change your passwords to be safe. (Myself, I usually update passwords near the beginning of a new month, but this news has made me update them even sooner.)

Commercial Games with RPG Maker 2000
MaverickHunterDBoy replied to MaverickHunterDBoy's topic in General Game Development
Of course. I plan to make my own sprites and tiles (albeit using the RTPs as a sort of "template" so I can know if I'm doing things right or not). But I do plan to make it so it could stand out. -
Hey, all. Not too long ago, RPG Maker 2000 became available on Steam. And I learned through Steam's community forums that it's possible that one is allowed to make commercial games with RPG Maker 2000 now (provided it's your own idea, natch). So, I was wondering if anyone here has considered such. [Note to admins/mods: I posted in this thread since there's no RPG Maker 2000 section in the forums.]

Last night, I completed my first RPG Maker XP game. Currently it's only on GameJolt, but I might post future games on other sites as well. This is called "Danny Wheeler's Life or Death War". You play as a young knight named Packston. With your sister Saffron (a cleric) and several other friends, you fight various monsters--including the undead forces of long dead necromancer Keltabot--eventually facing the reborn necromancer. You can find the game here: http://gamejolt.com/games/danny-wheeler-s-life-or-death-war/123773 Please do check it out.
