  1. 1. Gordon Freeman Although he never talks once in the entire series, this leaves him as a blank slate. A tabula rasa if you will. The character himself is not even anyone special, just a scientist put in an abnormal situation. Also, his relations with the people around him define the character's characteristics (which makes the surrounding characters even more interesting) but the real thing is for the player to decide what kind of person Freeman is. The real beautiful about him is that he is a character that allows the game to break the fourth wall, by being almost nonexistent the characters are almost talking to the player. This is gaming's character creation at its finest. 2. Mario Mario is such a staple from gaming that he himself defines it. Although he is nothing more than the happy go lucky Italian plumber (who is a prime example of Japan's lack of sensitivity to the world as he IS the Italian stereotype). 3. Master Chief If there were no Mario, there would only be the Master Chief. Halo has gotten some bashing recently, mainly because gamer's preference of the "trend" has now changed. This doesn't mean that Halo was bad, in fact it might have been one of the most influential and important games ever (atleast of the decade). The Master Chief is similar to Gordon Freeman because he doesn't speak throughout gameplay but he does speak during cinematics. When he does speak however, he speaks generally and plain with terrific voice acting. He is the pure explanation of the super soldier, in ways that gaming has never accurately created until Halo. Although later in the series the character and his relations has changed greatly, the core character is a great example of Gaming's standard. 4. Cloud Strife I am not really in favor of my decision to put Cloud on the list like the rest of the posters here, but I did so because he is actually a well created character. Cloud seems as though to be the standard dark and overly Japo character in the beginning of Final Fantasy VII, but as the game progresses you see that he is not only human but very flawed. He lies to his friends and becomes what he wants to through means of which that I think are pretty grim. He is a character that is real, and moreover emotionally weird. This is Cloud from the original game, because he was not the same character in Advent Children and I am not even acknowledging crisis core. 5. The Sims Why? Because the Sims are whoever the hell you want them to be. Literally, you can make a person who is a kleptomaniac who in a mature rated title would shoot up a school, or a popular teenager who in turn would get shot by the kleptomaniac. This is a easy idea, to just make a person but in practice the life sim is the ultimate game. You can make any life you want, any town you want, anything you want it can be done. This is why the Sims makes the list, because you and your creative mind could probably make a better character than half of the bland protagonists that are out there today.
  2. Good Old PC Games: 1. Fury 3 2. System Shock 2 3. Baldur's Gate 4. Civilization 5. The Sims (if you can count it) 6. Star Craft 7. Diablo 8. Roler Coaster Tycoon (if you can count it) 9. Tales of Mokey Island Not in any particular order, but you need to play at least some of them.
  3. I don't like ATOS too much, mainly because half of the show is internet memes which doesn't have a place outside of the interbutts. Other than that, I enjoy seeing the latest gadgets that they report poorly on, and their horrible tastes in comics! Not to bash or anything... well okay i'm bashing.
  4. So without reading any posts in the topic I will just voice my opinions on the matter of the current gen Console Wars. Right now, Nintendo Wii isn't getting a lot of attention like it was a couple years ago. Playstation 3 however is beginning to one up the Xbox 360 with their list of exclusives while the 360 tries to voice itself towards not only the casual gamer market but the Japanese one aswell. This is what I can see from it all: There is no real way of comparing the Wii to either the PS3 or 360. The Nintendo Wii is so vastly different that it isn't even in the same ball park. It would be like comparing the PC to the Xbox, in terms of the console's world. It just doesn't make sense. The PS3 and 360 however have been at each other since the launch of both consoles. Comparing those is no problem at all. The real question however is not "which is better," but "which appeals to YOU". If I may be so bold to say so, I personally enjoy the Xbox 360 over any other platform. Reason being, is because of the number of games available to me appeal to me more than the PS3's lineup does. I also enjoy a wider range of a community, as most of my friends play online games on the 360 as opposed to the PS3 (however the PS3 online community is growing by leaps and bounds). Now with that said, I also would love to spend the cash required to buy a Playstation 3. The exclusive lineup is astounding and quite frankly, it is a more powerful system. Again, I would also enjoy a Wii. It would be perfect for side screen games when my friends would come over. All I'm trying to say that there is no real console war, only one in the eyes of either over-obsessed fanboys that are willing to kill themselves because an exclusive title goes multiplatform. To the rest of the public, consoles are not divisions between gamers but more of the different roads we take; each leading to a satisfying and overall fun experience. Isn't that all we want from video games? As a medium, it is the same as any other form of entertainment. They are there to fill however many hours with a fun experience. We should enjoy what each console has to offer, and appreciate it for its strengths not bash it for its weaknesses. Those are my two cents anyways. I would go on about the fanboys over the Final Fantasy XIII thing but that is for a different day.
  5. So yea... been a LONG time since i've been here. I didn't even know if my account would still be up (thanks for not deleting it lol). So I think I have already talked about my website on here the last time I showed up, but yea I've been working on my own gaming blog. You can check the progress of it on my twitter, Plus1Attack. So the reason why I have returned (and to be quite honest I don't know how long i'm staying) is to say hi, see what's going on and pretty much see if I'm still interested in making what I was so passionate about not to long ago. I have had a couple of new ideas which I was going to try to get started so today I decided why not pay the ol' RMXP Unlimited guys a holler. And by the way, great update to the forums looks great. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's been a while, and I was in town so I decided why not. Anyways, looking forward to seeing what games you guys have been making in my absence, best of luck and see you soon.
  6. Story About five years ago, the World Federation was at war with millions of rebel groups that have joined forces to create the "Great Spears". After losing many countless battles, the Federation realized there was almost no chance to win this war, but they had a trunk card. There best scientist, Professor Juno had been at work with a very important experiment, involving aura and cell transfusion. Once it was finished, Juno gave the finished product to the President. He realized it was too powerful and dangerous to use on someone who they could not control, so began the creation of Arcangel. Arcangel was a man, but in a different way than others. He had emotion, but lacked happiness or sadness. He was the strongest being that existed, even before the cell transfusion, but he was a man. Afterwards, the scientists noted that his power was amazing, so amazing, that it shouldn't be used whenever the user wishes. It will be triggered by inner will power. Because of this tinkering with the cells atoms, a side effect was created, memory loss. The scientists had no time to revise the cells and perfect them, as the war was coming closer and closer to a halt, so the specially classed soldiers hand picked for the cell transfusion were brought in. Out of those 500 soldiers, only one had his memory stay in contact. The soldiers were thereafter named as Angel's, and carried out their duties (with the help of Arcangel) and won the war against the great spears. Afterwards, Arcangel realized that fighting for someone with sin is pointless, and it would only make the matter worse, and abandoned the Military Federation. The Federation realized that Arcangel's power was now not in the control of the Federation, and had to be stopped. The Angels were then sent on a mission, to kill Arcangel. Every Angel was sent on the mission, and only one survived. His name was Myst Aurora. Myst left the battlefield scarred, and useless to the Military. He was thought of as dead, and began living a new life, until the hunt for his life began. Because of his unique ability of the angel cells, he was as powerful as Arcangel, if his power was correctly triggered. The Federation knew that he couldn't be left alive, because something worse than Arcangel could emerge from Myst's dead memories. As one year after another past, Myst finally found peace. He was not found by the Federation, and could finally begin a new life. This is where the story begins. Characters Myst Aurora (main character) Age: 25 Weapon: Mecha Blade Myst was born into a very poor family, but at the age of 10, he saw his parents killed in front of him. Myst survived the assault to his house, and continued on with life living alone, until found by the Federation. The Federation put him into the Federation Military program, and he became the best soldier in the entire Federation. Fara Heartringer (party member) Age: 20 Weapon: Tonfa Blades Fara was born as an orphan, and always dreamed of finding her parents, but as she grew older, she knew that she was ment to help other people, not herself, so she became a rations provider for the poor. Ryul (party member) Age: 20 Weapon: Katana Ryul was a prince of the king of Yokatsuka Isles, and was always a fighter. Because of his strange likeness to the battlefield, he was entered into the federation military program at the young age of 6, and became a top soldier, S Class. Rench (party member) Age: ??? Weapon: Wrench Blade Rench is a very special Gumo. He can talk. No one knows why or how he can talk, but he feels he has been chosen to talk for a special reason, to save the world. Rench's life is shrouded in shadows, as not even Rench will reveal them to his own friends. Rev (party member) Age: 28 Weapon: Scyth Rev's life started in Ridge City. He was born into a family with riches and wealth, but it was all taken away when his parents were captured by a strange rebel group. He vowed to avenge them, but that all changed when he was enlisted into the Military Federation. Irv (party member) Age: 32 Weapon: Gatling Gun Irv lived in Hurdle Creek for years, protecting it from all types of monsters and villains, but it seemed that he couldn't stand up to Arcangel. He lost his family to Arcangel, and vowed to avenge their deaths, and joined Myst and his team, not to save the world, but to save his family. More information will be available later!
