Oblivion dont have an actual world map. By world map we mean by the old Final Fantasy's and, Crono Trigger, and Wild Arms. The way they do things. World maps make the game feel like your getting somewhere. You dont want to have like 40 maps to get to one town. That would make the player feel like they are not making any progress in the game or when a quest leads you to another town they will say "This is very stupid i just spent 40min getting here and now i have to waste another 40min go back!!!!" The point im trying to get across is that you can make your games more bigger by having a world map instead of making them feel like they got nowhere in 40min or making them feel like OMG there was 2 maps to get to the other city how lame. Sure people say the world map is a lazy way but in actuality its not. its a more creative way to make the game and get a feel for what your world is like. Sorry for all the reading. I only do this when im making points.
