Having a plan is a great idea. One of the things that makes me bored is the mapping and populating of a city, especially a big city. They say give each character a personality, make them individualistic. Sometimes that seems to be too much work. Several ways to reduce the boredom of city making is have a topic of that city (the king was assasinated, city excells in this area and weak in others) and then get most of the people to talk about or around those subjects. Another thing is that with the characters inside the city, give them roles to play instead of a particular personality. That could also reduce bordom and time constraints.

I will look again. Thanks really, sorry if this comes off as completely rude but are these compatible with XP?

Does anyone know where I can find some decenent vampire sprites?

I will say at the beginning that I use RPG Maker XP. But this discussion can fit onto any engine. When people make Demos for their upcoming games, there is always this little thing about whether or not the save files that are saved for the demo can be transferable to the final product. What does it take to make a tranferable save file from demo to final product? Two things I have learned is the placement of items, maps, and equipment is important for the transfer (that is where they are in the lists and number of the map, this also includes switches and vairables), the other thing is characters. If you offer a demo with only four characters in it, but the total game has eight, if the save is to be properly tranferable, you would already need all eight characters designed and developed within the engine even if you only offer the demo with four. If you only design four with the demo, and then the person tries to use the save for the final product problems can occur. I had that experience while developing my own game and play testing it. Any comments on this?

If no one knows where if there is a characterset for this battler, would someone know where I might find a characterset that would have the hair of that battler, or something close to it. Please have it be white, because I do not know how to recolor.

Hi, Does anyone know if there is a characterset for this battler. It's one of Naramura's.

Hello, I have a question concerning a certain item in my inventory that I would like to have accessible only on a specific map, in this case my world map. is there an eventing way to do that or do I have to do it through scripting?

To anyone who has wondered where they might find a reliable animations tutorial, and can't seem to find one, I am going to be posting a page that, with the help of Nisage and others, I have found to be fairly informative. http://rmxp.tigerseye.uk.com/tutorial_data8.shtml There is one thing I would like to add. The animation cells have a specific size to them. Meaning if you find a really nice animation from on the web there is a chance that it could be too big or too little. If it's too big, then that single animaiton will be in several different cells, or if their too little, as my personal experience has been, then they will be crammed together within a single cell. If that is the case then resizing will be needed. now I don't know the exact cell size on the editor. The way I have resized my animations is looking at those animations that were the proper size, mostly by going on how many animation cells were in each picture, and then resized the smaller ones to the size of the right ones.

I know this should probably be on the tutorial request page, but someone has already placed a request there, and it hasn't been answered. Does anyone know where I might find a good indepth tutorial on animations. No seriously. I have no idea where to look. I would like it to be very informative, and will also give tips on imported animations as well. And if possible one that isn't a video.

In one of my dungeons I have a light that is flashing on and off. Now I understand that in order to make it flash properly and continually I need to set the event onto parallel process, and that to keep it flashing, I need to loop it, so I did. The question comes in with me wanting to use it as a teleporting devise. you go up to the light hit the command key, and you teleport to another place, but for that to work, the event needs to be set on action button. I tried using a conditional branch to get the button effect, but with that problem, anywhere I am on the map, and I push the button, I teleport form that area and not in front of the light like I want to. How do you set up a paralell process that also has an action button to it. I want it to be that my character is facing the light, or looking at it in some way, and then the teleporting effect activates.

how would I do that? This is not something I'm familiar with.

I am trying to work with a variable, the idea is that there is an item and has been split into two pieces, and then the characters have to go look for those two pieces, and then have to get the two pieces together. This is how the varialbe is suppose to look, but when it comes to making it work, i am still having trouble. The item is called the Blue Orb. Well this is one of them.

hi, I;m wondering how to add another saving spot for my game. The default saving is four, meaning I can save my game four different times, and then go back, so how do you add more to make it five or more?

Another problem for me. I am having difficulty learning how the timer works. I've figured out how to set it, but I am having trouble in getting the results that I want when the timer runs out, and I am also curious how to set it off when my character is anywhere on the map or maps. I want the timer to be a "universal" timer that no matter where you are it will continue to tick, and have it go off with the desired effect. I've also managed to get the timer to be "universal" but I still can't get what I want when it runs out. Also to those who have been helping me thanks.

Sorry, to be a bother, but now I am having trouble with the subject of music. When I try to transfer my character from one map to another the music doesn't change with the map. I've tried to use an autorun event to get the music established, but when I went to the map that had the autorun music going, I couldn't move my character. What am I doing wrong?

The Chosen Leader starting out alone, and chosen
Verincia posted a topic in General Game Development
Hey, I'm trying to create a game where the main character is chosen from a list. I've figured out how to do the list part of it, but I have run into problems with trying to get that character to be the leader and alone. Not only that but the "temporary" character that is there at the beginning is also has a party and not alone. How do you get rid of the exess party that you don't want at the beginning of the story? -
When I say I am having trouble getting my serial number, I don't mean the trial one, NO I mean the real one, the one I paid for to keep RPG MAker Xp. When I went to buy it, it never had occured to me that the place would just give me the activation serial number right there and then, so I never tried to look for (actually I don't know if it came right then and there), and now of course I am not really in a position to get it, at least for the one I got then. I thought it would come over the e-mail or the mail itself, but of course it hasn't. Does anyone know how I can get the actavation serial number, without having to pay for it a second time, of course I will if I absolutely, posivively had to, but who wants to.

I might have. What happens when I do?

When I am putting together the maps for my new game, when I did a play test on some of them, I discovered that I was walking through walls, going places that the characters are not suppose to go, and even when I went to the castle, you couldn't see the castle on the other side of the moat. Is there something wrong. I am also using the standard default maps available.

hello, I am curious if it is posdsible to transfer some of the items made for other rpg makers into rpg maker xp. For example, the character sets for dragons in maker xp leave something to be desired, while some nice ones for maker 2003 have been found. Is it possible to use the dragon characters sets in the rpg maker 2003 for xp?

Hello, I am just curious if there is a way to make a game that allows the player to choose their own hero. Like in Seventh Saga. There were seven heroes to choose from and the player had to choose one. I wonder if there is a way to do that same thing, and how would I do it.

this is my first time doing this so I realy don't know what I'm doing, but I ran into a very strange problem when I was trying to make my maps. I am trying to do a room from the in castle tilesets, but not everything I want is there, I have been trying to import tilesets with different materials onto the in castle map that I am doing, but every time I switch to a different tilesets like "in port town" then my whole map goes all wierd and takes on an "in port town" look. I have tried to bring in new pictures from another place and copy them, but that also has caused probelms. Anyone have any ideas of how to get the pictures I want from one tilesets to my map that is based on another without loosing any of what is already there.
