Quick help...

Question

I am new at this and really don't need help with the teleport option, since it's in the Help section of the Program...

 

What I do need help with is that I want Frank to say, "talk to bob." Until the main character talks to bob, then talking with Frank changes the dialog to something like, "See, bob is wise."

 

If this topic has been discussed, my many apologizes.

No worries. I will try to explain easy. :)

 

To start with, make 2 Switches called Bob and Bob2.

 

Make an event called Frank. Make him say "Talk to Bob", then, turn Local Switch A On, and Switch Bob On.

 

Make a second event called Bob. Make a conditional Branch there. Do like this.

This mean that if you have spoken to Frank, and the Switch Bob has been turned on, the event were Bob speaks nonsence will start. If you haven't spoken to Frank before, Bob will have no idea who you are. When you mae Switch Bob2 On, go back and talk to Frank.

 

Go back to the Frank event. Make a new page on that event, with the Local Switch A On, nd with a new conditional Branch.

Because Swtich Bob2 has been activated, Frank will say " See, Bob is Smart/Wise". If you haven't spoken to Bob yet, the other message will come instead.

Okay, I will try that out. I figured I could try and use the same option like if you talk to Bob he'll say, "Hey..." then talk to him again and he'll say, "So Away..." I'll try that out. Thanks a bunch!

Okay, I am soooo totally lost. lol What is a local switch? I can't seem to find it. I'm new at the RPG Maker XP.....

 

Also, is there any way to change the Start Screen or Game Over screen? Okay, enough questions from me then...

 

Plus with your picture, yours says Message and mine says Text. Is there a difference?

I made a quick demo for you to see how this is done:

To make him say something specific you use local switches. If you want him to say random things, do it like its done in this demo.

Yea, just keep at it, at first I was completly lost. But thanks to help from several people on here I know more of what I'm doing though some things still confuse me.
