Marked 197 Report post Posted June 1, 2014 I will be finishing my degree soon, so there's a possibility I I will get bored. Below is what I would plan to do on the site in moving forward. The my GDU concept: http://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/topic/10787-personalising-gdu-concept/ This may first as it is the easiest to code. The goal is to make it an effective system to rout members around the site. It will allow members to find all the content they're interested, have interacted with, bookmarked, and importantly motivate members to submit to the content sections. The Games section This is what I pin the survival of GDU on. Thus far not entirely effective or successful by definitely of interest to people. The following updates will be done - Remastered content system, eg add as many pages and pagetypes as you want, each with a BBCode textbox. Unlimited customizability, almost. - A blog system, blog posts when published will show up in the recent content / posts (isn't that big motivation? :P) Each blog post will have its own comments. - Comments at the bottom of each page, not a standalone page. Ability to turn off GDU integrated member functions and use the disqus comments plugin - Design customization: a logo, background, themes, color schemes, and no GDU header. - increase upload size to 100mb and add more 3rd party hosts (right now its dropbox). How its our drawcard: It should be very easy to erect a largely complete website for the game, and will the internal integrations and community involvement we can at least get people adding their games here. But one thing is definitely high on the list is automatically generated userbars and advertising graphics for websites and forum signatures. Simply click a button and the system will take your logo and other data to immediately generate graphics and code so you're ready to go in advertising your page; thus, if done, will drive traffic here. And hopefully we'll see some growth that way. Engines Engines will grow too. I've tried to integrate unity, its difficult right now. If all goes to plan, the way we'll diversify is that people who use those engines will come here to use the games section to display their games, and we'll have our forums ready and waiting. In the end I want the engine pages to increase, be a shitload better than what they currently are, and have some interactions such as reviews on them as well. Polraudio 122 Report post Posted June 1, 2014 All sounds good. Like the idea of comments on every page. Will help get better feedback on the site...hopefully. As for 3rd party hosts i got a few i cant live witout. Mega, Google Drive, and Mediafire.
Bigace360 38 Report post Posted June 1, 2014 Sounds like a great idea to me. Can you add sub-titles to the game section as well, i've said this before but, my title uses to many characters to fit in the title space. So if you can add subtitles, that would be great. Also you bringing back those game cards? All sounds good. Like the idea of comments on every page. Will help get better feedback on the site...hopefully. As for 3rd party hosts i got a few i cant live witout. Mega, Google Drive, and Mediafire. God I hate mediafire as it takes for ever just to upload a file from someone sometimes. Also what is Mega? Marked 197 Report post Posted June 1, 2014 Yeah I do plan to bring back project cards but it's not really a big priority. Maybe I'll get that done first so its out of the way. It's not too hard to develop. The 3rd party file hosts will be based only on how easy it is to download and the host's file deletion policy. The whole point in limiting it is about usability and preserving links, we don't want it to take forever and get bombarded with ads just trying to download something, and we don't want to lose files that people aren't going to upload again. Bigace360 38 Report post Posted June 2, 2014 @marked: Exact reason I don't want to use Mediafire as it's basically everything you just said. At least when I try to deal with it, which is why I stick with Dropbox, though Google Drive shouldn't give you to much trouble as well.

Marked 197 Report post Posted June 2, 2014 Lol Wyzrd, i didn't even know you could get into these staff topics :P That's right... I set it up so RMXPU Legends could give their input since they've been with the site so long.
ShinkuAura 15 Report post Posted June 2, 2014 Looking forward for the new bugs mark! Putting aside my sarcasm, i do hope that this brings more interest to the people.
Marked 197 Report post Posted June 2, 2014 I will kill you. I understand that its sarcasm and I will just like to point out that the amount of this site that I have coded is amazing. I will finish a law degree in less than a month and haven't been unemployed since 2011, so I've got no time and I'm not exactly a web developer. I'd like to see a non-commercial project with more custom code... i do hope that this brings more interest to the people. Which parts in particular?
Bigace360 38 Report post Posted June 2, 2014 lol @Marked, claims he's not a web-developer but designs a whole site better than most people who are actually web developers. :lmao:
Marked 197 Report post Posted June 2, 2014 Thanks :3 Actually technically I am a web developer given that is one of my part time jobs, but I have no formal education and learned everything purely from building this site.
