Am i weird for this?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have something that I wanted to tell everyone but I'm not sure who i should go to.

Now for the first time I will be a serious.

I ask you to please be respectful with your opinions about what I am going to write.

Some months ago, by December. I had a old friend that I had feelings for her. I started to develop feeling for her back at high-school, which was many years ago.

I loved her personality, her charming smile and her beautiful eyes. At the time I wasn't really brave and I wanted to tell her my feelings, about what I felt.

But I never did told her anything.

One day, I found out that she dropped out of high school because she had too much stuff on her hands and she needed time off school.

It was really heartbreaking for me because I would never see her again. But fortunately I had her Phone number and I could message her by whatsapp.

Sometimes, we've talked about a lot of our interests, goals, and life plans. and during the years we've stopped talking for some reason.

Somewhere on October, 2013. She talked to me telling what I was up too. I replied what I was doing at the time.

For four months we've talked about a lot of things and how she wanted to travel around the world and visit many places.

I enjoyed talking to her everyday.

However she eventually stopped replying my messages and didn't reply a whole lot anymore.

On August 24, 2014 I said Happy Birthday to her and she was really happy about me being the only one remembering her birthday one hour before any of her friends.

Somehow we talked again, but this time she talked to me about how she feels that she feels alone and not loved by any guy.

Now if I was someone who's looking for love then I should tell her about my personal feelings.

I told her that she needed to be strong and positive. That only giving up will make her weak. Everyday I would talk to her giving her positive feedback.

Until I found out that yesterday she successfully found someone that makes her happy, Someone that makes her laugh and smile. She thanks me about me not abandoning her and not being negative.

Let me explain this in a metaphor.

If you have the opportunity to eat a cake by yourself, then you should eat it and enjoy it for yourself.

I instead picked up the cake and gave it to some else.

I ask myself again and again...am i weird for missing out an opportunity? An opportunity for love...

What do you think? Leave your opinion down below.

well, this actually happened (much smaller way) to me. I see the cake metaphor like so, you are presented with a cake, you decorate that cake, however sometimes you will never be able to taste that cake even though you poured you heart out in effort to make that cake a better thing.

There are always more opportunity's so sometimes it just better to let it slide, who knows what will happen in the future.

Nice guys finished last. I learned that lesson back in highschool with relation to girls, but you missed your opportunity but didn't necessarily give away the cake. You were never going to get her via whatsapp. Girls want to talk about themselves, they're up and down like they're bi-polar. I wouldn't feel bad at all in terms of what you did.

Here's some advice which you defs shouldn't follow: further befriend, do meet ups, demonstrate value, undermine the new guy, obtain what you want.

I'm practically married, its great not to worry about girls anymore.

Also I seriously thought you were gay, that's a bit of a suprise but that's cool.

I wish I could let it slide, but it's something that is bothering me at the moment. I'm not sad about it. I'm actually happy that she has someone to care about.

But when I found out about this, I kept thinking to myself if I was weird for doing such thing. If I consult a friend of mine I would be called 'idiot' or 'dumbass' for doing such action.

Me? Gay?

Now who told you I was gay?

Don't get me wrong I do support LGBT but that does not make me gay in anyway.

Back in the day, we used to talk a lot in high school.

She would generally find me when her friends skipped school. I had a lot of feelings for her and still do.

I couldn't do much things but to help her get motivated and strong. Something inside me kept telling me that it was totally impossible to get her interest on me.

So I listened to that small voice and did what I thought it was correct.

Life moves on, and to be honest I feel happy for her and I am not depressed for what I did. Far from it. I am really happy what I could do.

I have to eventually let my feelings go away.

Because there's a lot of fish in the the ocean.

Thank you guys for these opinions!

Sorry for them typos!

I had that exact problem except i actually talked to her in person and not over the phone. Over the phone was your problem and taking it to slow as friends. You got put in the friend zone just like i did. I use to hang out with her all the time trying to get he to like me and realize i had feelings for her. I made the mistake by not trying to date her earlier cause she ended up with someone else and thanked me for being there for her.

It happens to us all and is hard to get over when it happens. She may seem like she is the one and you really want her to be the one for you but the truth is that she isnt. Best to just keep pressing on and find someone else. When the time comes you will find the one. Just keep doing what you love and a girl just for you will come along(or a guy if your a girl(advice for everyone)).

Uh my sweet friend :ehh: Don't worry, We all had opportunities that we lost but this is the life, You haven't done anything weird. Sometimes you think you've lost a great opportunity, But sooner or later, You'll got that the opportunity that you lost just opened a door to another great opportunity. You don't know what you've lost and you don't know what you'll reach. A few months ago I watched a video and it was about decisions that we make, it said none of them are right, and none of them are wrong. It's just the way they are. There are a lot of things that effect on our decisions.

You are a really good friend for her and I'm glad you didn't abandon her because it's what real friends do.

Anyway, I think life is too short so get what you love. Don't hesitate to tell someone if you love her. Know your feelings and shut them up when needed.

Follow your life and don't forget love, You'll find your girl  :)

WTF?! I don't know what to say :dizzy:

It doesn't matter if I talked to her via whatsapp. The important thing was just talking to her. Maybe you're right about me asking to be in the friend-zone, but like you said. Do what you love and you'll get it eventually.

Thanks Polraudio.

Thank you Zahraa, your sweet words are really motivating for everyone. You're a really sweet girl. :)

We all wait for love and we also search for it.

But eventually love will be knocking on your door Unexpectedly. As humans we have the need to love an individual and transfer that positive energy to one another.

What I did was something I will never regret for the rest of my life. We need to show people what they are in their life. Just to face off reality.

Ok lets turn down the T-swift for a mo and visit reality for a sec, lemme give you some advice. Don't get me wrong, inspiration is a good thing, it allows to do things we want and that may not be rational etc. But the next stage when you actually find the girl, is for her to crush your heart. Humans are shitty are like that. Trust me, this will happen to you so long as you're not single your whole life.

You shouldn't regret it, but you ought to learn from it. The next you time you do it there probably could be regrets.

I recommend you look at this vid:

Lol not all girls. But it does sound like this is what happened in Omar's case. If they're always seeking compliments, always talking their own problems, don't show any interest in your own life and just need someone at that time: that's not a relationship, that's you being used. I'm filling in the blanks here, of course.

Tho it is true that what you did was right, like marked said you needed to be there, put yourself out there. No woman will date you if they don't think you want to date them, even if they have a crush on you. being physically there is a big part of that, chatting online or texting can only do so much, make a date without calling it a date will atleast let you know if she is interested in you that way. But you are young and the art of dating has been lost to the internet generations, so it might not be easy to figure it out.

Well here's a little story.

There once was a Crane, thy grace was stellar,

there was also a dog, thy passion was iregullar.

Not forgetting the fox, quiet but loving.

And they're besides the herd, who were all but nothing.

One day came a ghost,

Who changed them all most.

He'd be there by their side,

just there for the ride.

Nobody noticed this spectre,

they were focused on their nectar.

But then there were three,

that was there for thee.

Thy made them laugh, thy made them feel,

all while knowing thy wasn't real.

Thy made them mad, thy made them cry,

for he can not feel, to which he wave bye.

They wish him away

to leave him astray

But he will be there

for thee there's no where.

Thy stood by their side

even on the new tide

The crane, the dog, and the fox,

and a ghost in a box.

The crane which thee crave

thy dog which thy save

a fox whom thou care

for a ghost to give spare.

A fox to leave lone,

a dog to leave alone.

But the ghost crave the crane

for thy dont feel the pain.

When the crane chase thy fish,

the ghost is left with a wish,

"Bring me a wish upon one star

grant my dream so I may go far

for a soul is what I need,

but not which I greed."

Sadly, no ghost shall gain his own,

so he was standing there alone...

To end this tale, there was the crane and the dog,

the fox and the herd,

but a ghost still sat there,

waiting to be heard.

Being brave is something I think is shown by question, only if you ask will you ever be brave. Not asking can result in the hurtings of someone, the longer you put out, the more damage will be brought down upon one. The moral of this story is that some of us never have a chances at love, but even so, we won't stop searching for someone to care about you as much as you care about them. One day you'll all find that special someone hopefully, but it may just be a fantasy, so don't be with glee, until you are truly happy, whether you are lonesome or no, by helping those you've changed the world, and that is what is admired the most. Ardi out.
