You know them...they were the games you grew up on. The games that pulled you into the video game world and never let you go. The games that got you addicted and turned you into the person you are today...(a gamer making his own video games)

So..what were the games you grew up on? Which games hold a place in your heart? Which games gave you the spirit to keep playing and become the designer you are today?

For me it was Super Mario Bros. and the other classics on the NES...what about you?

For me, definitely Crash Bandicoot(We're talking the first PS games, Crash 1, 2 & 3). I can still remember the first time I played it. I must have been 8 or something. Although it didn't turn me into a game designer and certainty not a gamer.

I remember those games...Never have I thrown so many controllers into my wall. I must have replaced at least 15 or 17 of them. Those bandicoot games were just...infuriating...

So, my first game is JazzJack Rabbit 2. I like this game very much because it's with animals. I like also very much Captain Claw. There you are a captain cat and fight with all types of dogs. I played it day and night, But i couldn't finish it.

What's sad is most everyone else is naming PS games, that i used to play oh... 7-9 years ago. I have been playing for 17 years now.

Guest Hellfire Dragon

For me it was definetly Final Fantasy, some the best games I ever played.

Then of course, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro (who seems to have lost what I liked about the game in the newer spyro games)

I started it all on Sega Genesis, Sonic the Hedgehog (RIP), Mortal Kombat, Double Dragons.

Good stuff.

Shortly thereafter, my gaming career hit it's peek when I played Jade Cocoon and Final Fantasy VII for the Playstation, that my older brother fortunately bought.

The game's that got me addicted were all pretty mainstream game's like crash bandicoot, spyro, marios and red alert i used to play at my friend's computer.

Less known; Legacy of kain: soul reaver and syphon filter

Little offtopic:

Some of these game's still have the same atmosphere as they were released, like silent hill. :P
