I don't know if I can truly answer that question....I DO like the 2D simplicity of the games, but then I have ideas to put 3D aspects into the game and integrate them with the 2D ones. For making an RPG I'd say 2D, but I suppose if I were playing a new one these days then I would like it to be 3D.... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The RPG Makers, especially this new one have so many user-friendly features so that you don't have to do a whole lot of work. Its simple and easy and allows you to work on your own as opposed to a 3D game. Although its possible to create 3D games without programming knowledge and with one person, you don't have as much flexibility. Even with the most user-friendly 3D game makers, it requires so much more work than the current 2D RPG Makers to make a game. I have worked in 3D Game Studio, which you can download your own models(thought my brother can model for me) and you can download scripts(which to install, is nothing like RMXP), so it's possible to create a 3D game having no skill. Although I just a made a level, not a game. It would take weeks to create a proper level, with everything you want it working right, and looking right. If RPG Maker went 3D, it would make things a whole lot more difficult. So I voted for "I like 2D simplicity". RPG Maker is for 2D games. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Now if they could find a way to keep it as simple as it is not but in 3D it would be well worth it. But that is probably still a lot further into the future.
