Ardaceus 21 Report post Posted July 26, 2015 I want to make a video of gameplay of my game, but I don't know what is the best recording software for screen capping my game that is free. I tried Ezvid, but nothing worked for me no matter what I did. So what is your suggestion?
Bob423 52 Report post Posted July 26, 2015 Honestly...my suggestion is to pirate something like bandicam or fraps just because I don't think it's worth the money unless you're going to be using it a lot. Even if I had a link to a cracked copy of either, I wouldn't post it here.
Ardaceus 21 Report post Posted July 26, 2015 So Cool, I can be a the flying dutchman, a pirate ghost :3 And you can be Bob the Pirate Penguin! drago2308 4 Report post Posted July 26, 2015 Drago the Vocaloid Pirate He's on to us! ahaha nah, there are some great programs out there that offer free trials. such as camtasia which is super easy to record things, however the program that I use is called DxTory, however that is a difficult program to get running efficiently it runs fine with default settings. It is very customize-able and well worth a look. Good Luck!
Kitsuki 17 Report post Posted July 27, 2015 I'm going to tell you guys a secret... ... ... I pirated Bandicam XD which is exactly what Bob said to do. And it works pretty well. The LPer I know uses Camtasia, though I don't know if she pirated or not. I wouldn't use most trials, they'll add their watermark and I hate when they do that. I know this is probably me being judgemental, but when I see watermarks I think "Shoddy." Yeah... Judgemental. Also, Prophet? O.o what did I do to deserve to be called a Prophet? Lol
DustyZiroto 3 Report post Posted July 27, 2015 Also, Prophet? O.o what did I do to deserve to be called a Prophet? Lol Stealing MY job. Grumble...
David Johnston 3 Report post Posted July 27, 2015 David the Jalapeno Pirate Well I do have a thing for peppers, even though I like red bell peppers more :p

Kitsuki 17 Report post Posted July 27, 2015 Stealing MY job. Grumble... exactly what I though when I saw the word "Prophet", Dusty. ;D Stay on topic lol. I personally use bandicam. Theres also xsplit, obs and a bunch of others i never checked out but got reccomended lots. I haven't heard of any of those others except Bandicam. O.o Bandicam has a nice interface and is easy-to-use, especially the new version. If you're going to get it, get the new one because it looks hella nice. Shiny, dark grey, attractive and everything. I personally didn't really like Camtasia :P But if I remember, and I just recalled this now... it gives you the option to edit it right in its studio when you finish recording? I use Sony Vegas to edit my video after I record, so the Bandicam thing works out for me. But for those who don't have advanced video editing software I'd say Camtasia's pretty good. But I'd say even Windows Movie Maker will fulfill your needs for editing a game video, especially if you're just recording for a gameplay trailer or something and sticking music in, lol
ShinkuAura 15 Report post Posted July 28, 2015 Kind of sad to say that i haven't pirated anything in years. What you mean downloading software from other site is bad? That ain't pirating, that's "sharing" content.
Kitsuki 17 Report post Posted July 28, 2015 Kind of sad to say that i haven't pirated anything in years. What you mean downloading software from other site is bad? That ain't pirating, that's "sharing" content. Once you go pirate, you don't go back... I dub you the Culinary Pirate, Omar ;D Pirating is cool for me because I can't bother paying like $300 for Sony Vegas. I'm an amateur, I can't see myself actually doing anything useful/decent in there. Pirating is "bad" because by not paying you don't support the creators... but I only pay for things I want to support :P Like Outlast. That's the only game I've legit bought in a long while. You don't see me paying for games like HuniePop...
Bob423 52 Report post Posted July 28, 2015 Would just like to point out that we don't endorse pirating on this site. We just don't say "OMG NO PIRACY. IS SUPER TERRIBLE!" I'd like it if we didn't make this thread about it. Thanks :) Edit: I shouldn't have said "I suggest." I just meant that, if you want something free, you might as well UNLESS you plan on actually using bandicam or fraps a lot because the free versions are not worth it if you hardly ever use them and want more than 10sec videos. (Unless they've changed it since then) So yeah, I made a boo boo. Please don't make it worse.
Marked 197 Report post Posted July 28, 2015 Would just like to point out that we don't endorse pirating on this site. Yes we do. I've been endorsing piracy for ages, especially movies. It's in societies best interests to pirate stuff to force vendors to change their methods of delivery goods to the market. Did you know that the movie industry lots its shit over VCR tapes (...what you used to hire from the video store) coz they thought there were gone lose shit tons of money. They tried making them illegal. But then they made shit tons of money. Even with piracy increasing, their profits are going up, not down. They're greedy. They shouldn't be supported by way of paying for their product, but you should buy it for other reasons. Not to mention it's not technically illegal here, people just mistakenly think it is. Ofc the US thinks they can extend their jurisdiction to anywhere in the world, but that's optimistic in terms of individual piracy. Anyway, you're all banned for going off topic. I didn't read the topic much, but Kitsuki said no to Camtasia Studio and yes to windows movie maker, so don't listen to him/her. Use Camtasia Studio, and do so by pirating it. Piracy is pretty awesome... but I'll pay for things created by smaller studios. It's just the big companies that I pirate from, since they're all making enough money anyway. Whoa. Whoa, hold up there buddy. I said Camtasia Studio is cool. WMM is okay for video editing that doesn't go beyond cutting and adding music, but I was saying Camtasia is pretty good if you want to edit videos. Pirate it to both record and also edit, totally worth it. It's just that it didn't work for me when I tried to add facecam back when I was trying to make LPs. Nowaday I don't use facecam, but I still stick to Sony Vegas + Bandicam, for quality and big projects. Bandicam is clear and good quality. Easy to use. *raises sign promoting Bandicam in giant bold letters* But Ardi, it's basically just what you're looking for and what you prefer. :P Camtasia's good for some, wasn't good for me. Likewise, Bandicam is good for me, not for others. Try some out, don't diss any of them before you try them. ;) Edited July 28, 2015 by Kitsuki
Ardaceus 21 Report post Posted July 30, 2015 Well, I was gone for a few days, and now I turned a topic about filming software into full endorsed pirating view points... huh. So I'll have to check out the suggestions when I get back from my trip here in Finland. Now just to move all the pirate talk, better make a topic about it in the dicussion forums. Have fun there with ye talk of yer swiping and plundering of ye olde internet.
