Learning forums

Hi guys

 

So I was browsing some RM websites, which I haven't done in about 5 years. But I stumbled upon something I really like at Mundo RPG Maker, which isn't an English site. 

 

It's this: 

 

A learning center where devs of any engine can come and get help or feedback. It's easy because its broad. If you want help/support on your map, you simply make a topic there, and afterwards it disappears forever. 

 

Should we implement this here?

Um I don't think we actually need it here. We have "Resource Showcase And Critiques" for non engine-specific learning. Each engine also has its own section for learning. I think our forums are more organized. I myself learned a lot about RMXP in this website and I didn't have any problems so I don't think there should be a learning center. On gdu about 70% of sections are about learning lol You did split that learning center into more specific sections here, Which is the right thing to do. If you have time to improve gdu I'd suggest you to work on Game section and make it more customizable :)

Translation: I don't see the need for a section like that. we have the support section for different categories and I can find help easily just by posting there. So you would just be spending time on something that the time could be used on upgrading something else no this website.

Lol. Thank you for your concern about my schedule (if that's why you guys are saying that). But it's irrelevant because implementing this would take seconds. I only need to develop things outside of the forums. I have a reasonably good idea of what I'll do when I get time to develop some stuff, but I doubt it will be making the game section more customizable, although it will likely involve extending/improving it.

I will try to explain it better.

 

Firstly, lets look at Mundo RPG Maker. It has individual support forums for all the RM's + other engines: 

AND it has the learning center forums, as above. 

 

This is apparently a winning formula, because that site has approximately 1 million more posts than we do. 

 

Just to clarify things for you guys, the learning center forums are different from support forums. Inevitably there is some cross-over. Mundo uses these forums for all of the following

• Tutorials (not necessarily applicable to us because we already have a tutorials section)
• Classes - members can run their own classes 
• Requests - this would probably replace our individual engine requests forums 
• Show case of works (as a sub-forum).

Oh okay! Now I understand. Hey if this brings us more members to the forums we could have more people with different talent curves and those talent curves could be posted in more advanced tutorials for us to consume.

I think it's a great idea in my opinion. You have my support Mark!

 

Though i think the community should decide. I think you should have a Poll before doing a concrete decision Mark. You see people may like the idea, but others may not and could for something they don't like. (i doubt it with this community.) but i think it's worth a try to see what the community think overall beside forum post.
