railfan101 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2015 you post a game page for your game in progress, and no one even acknowledges it? I must admit, posting a page in the proper forum for my game a month ago, and no responses doesn't really give me a lot of confidence to pursue development. It's frustrating really. You go through the effort to make a post to advertise your game, you put it up, and no one replies to it or makes any mention of if the idea's good or anything (over 1000 views have been recorded on my post though). What I'm trying to ask here, is if you make a game post and no one replies to it, is that a sign the idea is bad and further development is in vain, or am I being paranoid and a lack of response to my game post is nothing to worry about? I haven't done major work on the game recently because of real life, but I will get back to it at some point in February. BTW if you haven't seen it yet, its Project Talquin in the early in development forum.
Ardaceus 21 Report post Posted November 9, 2015 Usually on the forums, you have to post a demo for your game before people comment on the game, it's not that it's not being noticed, you just need some physical content of the game for someone to experience, then to have the people's thoughts put on it. I would have had my game up a while ago, but I've been really caught up in school work and my personal life to get around to finishing the demo. So I have no reason to complain about not receiving any feedback on my own game page, even though I have screenshots and blogs.
Bob423 52 Report post Posted November 9, 2015 I've found that if you ask people directly, they're more likely to give feedback. You could try that too.
railfan101 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2015 With nothing physical to show other than screenshots, that will only go so far. Thanks anyway I appreciate the reply. Once I do have a demo, I will show it off.
Marked 197 Report post Posted November 10, 2015 Moved to general game discussion. Of course it is discouraging. I have some suggestions: Make your topic content better; Don't make a topic, make a game page, and Make blog posts in the games system that are not too long, not too short, and focused on one or two topics only If you want feedback on something, ask for it. I looked at your topic. In regards to point 1 above, it isn't too surprising there were no replies. Your screenies are pretty stock standard. There's really nothing to say about them except... keep going. All of them show very little and there's no relation at all to the storyline. Speaking of which: The old world of Gybonis has been deadlocked in a war against itself for 20 years. No one trusts each other, everyone is scared, and all soldiers around fight for dominance. You play Arcane, a scientist working under the cabinet of Gybonis. Your initial intentions were peaceful when you joined. But one day, while working, you discover Baxtrob's intentions are not peaceful. Now you must escape Baxtrob's lab, and race to the other side of Gybonis in hopes of finding the only person who can save everyone. But the cabinet has other plans... This is very vague and contains too little information. Why is it attacking itself? Why does no one trust each other? When writing, focus on your audience. You should write it from the perspective of someone reading it for the first time... that way you can decide when to go into depth on a particular point. So for an intro that's only a few sentences long, you will make it more broad and not contain ambiguous details. The goal is to make the reader curious, not confused and trying to figure out how it works. You could also elaborate on a more complete storyline and place it in a spoiler, but I don't think that's necessary. Only where you think it can add value to what you're trying to achieve. Kitsuki 17 Report post Posted November 10, 2015 I got only a little feedback on my own things, but I solved that problem by posting my game on other sites where it got more comments and critique. Don't hesitate to post your game here, of course, but also try posting it in other places as well. We can't say much if there's nothing on the page, and short descriptions don't do as much as a demo can. Once you have a demo, you'll probably start getting more comments, because there's something substantial to leave feedback on. :D

I thought the description was fine. But looking at it again, there are elements within it that are not supposed to be there. I guess what I was trying to do here was just announce the game, inform others I was making it. Do me a favor Marked. Could you please delete my thread? I'm going to begin a blog on my game in the games section.
