save points

Question

I just started and im doing fine with most events the only problem is that i want my game to use save points. I want to make it so in order to save you have to use the action button on an object. I've even made the points. the only problem is there is a save command in my menu!

how do i get rid of this/ edit my menu further?

Your going to use the "Change Save Access..." command on the first tab in the eventing commands section, it should be at the bottom right. You should know what to do from there.

If you actually want to remove the word "save" from the menu, you'll have to use scripts (I'm not sure exactly how to do it at this time, sorry.)

However, if you use the "Change Save Access..." event to disable saving, the word "save" will be grayed out in the menu, and you can't select it. So, if you create an event that does that at the very beginning of the game, you'll be in good shape.

Then, you can use the "call save menu" event for when you want the player to save.

(Sidenote: I'm not sure if you have to re-enable saving in order for the "call save menu" event to work... does anyone else know?)

Now that i think of it, you shouldnt. All it does is make an option in the menu disabled.

If you use the "call save screen" event, you don't need to re-enable saving. I didn't realize it, but I actually use that event in my game, and I don't re-enable the save, and evidently it works a-ok.

It is because it doesn't prevent access to the Save Menu, it just disables the Save link in the Menu.
