RMXPirate 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2009 Here is that post I was talking about, not really funny but the pictures are you get a good laugh at them! What Formless will post will be way funnier!! Scrive has come a long way since it was first created and I have a lot of people to thank for that. Well only really like 3 or 4 maybe a few more 0.o. But before I go to thanking I thought Id put a little something together. This is a bit different then the what formless will post but will have a few different things! Here is a little timeline of scrive: You can see many things have happened through the years! Lol not really but that is only half of what happened. The Next question I want to ask is how many of you new users of scrive knew how scrive started or even the users who have been here since the beginning or middle 0.o. What did scrive use to look like?!?!?!? Scrive timeline! We start with my idea! It started very basic I mean very. I cant even believe I am about to show you this it is so bad. Really am I about to do this?!?! Scrive no number!! I kid you not! This was the very first idea for scrive! This is version 1.0 to begin with but then I thought about it... Looking at that I have to laugh at myself! It soon came to me what I could do and thats when 1.0 transformed into this! Scrive 1.0! Much better but not good enough! I even forgot to change the number from version 0.54 to 1.0 lol! After that im sure you cant believe how far scrive has come. Well the transformation from 1.0 to 2,0 was kind of a big step I mean there wasnt many changes but to hide the info etc and a little bit of a face lift. Scrive 2.0! Told you! Dont be disappointed I warned you there wasnt much of a change! Just that and search really... I took a hella of a long break after 2.0 because to be honest I felt scrive wasnt as popular as I thought. But it came to me that maybe it doesnt have the features the people want. So I searched for a team. Scrive 3.0 was such a big update. I said so many times that when you get 2.0 you will be amazed by it. You saw the change and know that 2.0 wasn't much of a difference from 1.0 at all but 3.0 compared to 2.0! That was deff a difference! Scrive 3.0! See, isnt it a huge difference? Ofcourse it didnt start like this. Thanks to CHIEF!!!!!!!! it looks as awesome as it does there. It first started with a lame background and normal buttons like that in version 2.0, very sad! But Chief made scrive happy again! Finally we are here 4.0! After another long break 4.0 is kind of here! What i mean is 4.0 is here in beta with 4.5 and was never truly released as a official 4.0. But none the less it is here! With so many features and such a great programmer(Formless) it has gone far. Here is 4.0 or what it could of looked like.... Scrive 4.0 or is it!? This is what scrive 4.0 could of looked liked! I know wow right?! Here is what scrive 4.0 truely looks like or scrive 4.0 beta 4 I should say: Scrive 4.0 really this time!! Ah, the epicness of scrive 4.0! What beauty, what greatness, what.. oh sorry got carried away! Im sure you are awe struck too. Well its only beta there is alot more to come. Well its only beta there is alot more to come. It is true and for all you scrive users out there I have here one last thing for you! A glimpse of scrive 4.5 beta 2!! Yes the next release in the series of scrive!! Yaaaay!! Im siked how about you?! No I really am! Im not lying! Ahhhh.. okay here it is: Scrive 4.5 beta 2 Glimpse! LOL!!! SCROLL DOWN TO SEE IT SERIOUS THIS TIME!! Lol okay serious this time! Scrive 4.5 beta 2 Glimpse! LOL!!! SCROLL DOWN TO SEE IT SUPER SERIOUS THIS TIME! Lol okay really serious this time! Scrive 4.5 beta 2 Glimpse! I Wasnt joking this time! Thats all for now! Check back later for updates to scrive as usual ;).
formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted April 16, 2009 And to go along with Pirate's lovely post, is an even lovelier (if that's a word) video where I take us on a trip through each Scrive version, having my go at humor and bashing of programs. After uploading, and waiting 10 minutes, it was still 'processing' so hopefully it's done.
formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 Okay guys, listen up. The link below is for 4.5 beta 2. This is not a mandatory update, because there are a lot of changes in the organizer. If you do wish to use beta 2, please download and install this driver from microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en If you don't, then Scrive probably won't load correctly, so please make sure that you have this installed. Feature list for 4.5 Beta 3: >> Ability to detect if you are offline or online >> If above reports online, you are given choice for Scrive Online or Organizer >> If above reports offline, the organizer automatically loads, but you can attempt to swap to the Online if it reports a connection. >> Possible changes in layout. 4.5 Beta 2 Download: http://myscrive.net/files/Scrive_4.5b2.zip
Chief 30 Report post Posted May 1, 2009 Well, I prob shouldnt release this image, but im gonna anyways, cuz I wanna... formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted May 1, 2009 That looks pretty good Chief Yeah, I'm working on 5.0 as we speak. I'll release a 4.5 Final (or beta 3, haven't decided) to end the 4.5 line. 5.0 is the last rewrite I'll probably do unless Scrive requires a lot of changes. Anyway, thanks for your continued support. RMXPirate 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2009 That is freaking awesome chief!! Like crazy awesome!!! I hope to see it as the new look of scrive soon :D Update May 11th, 2009: Scrive 4.5 Final We released a update to beta 2 which we will release as beta 3 that fixes the problem with vista. The problem was that vista hates files being saved in certain areas so it requires admin acess to make them. we made it so the files save in an area that vista likes basically. Anothe problem was with the files that came with scrive, for this update to work you need to delete the files below in the install spoiler... Note: All Vista users must do this for scrive to work without admin acess! BEST WAY TO DO IT IS UINSTALL SCRIVE COMPLETLY THEN REINSTALL WITH NEW INSTALLER!! Install: Using installer: 1. Download the update manually from scrives website here: Or update scrive using the updater! 2. Install scrive as needed... 3. Go to My Computer then navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Last Resort Entertainment\Scrive (Dont mind the (x86) that is for x64 bit computers) 4. Delete all the following files if they exist: Scrive 4.5.application Scrive 4.5.exe.config Scrive 4.5.exe.manifest Scrive 4.5.pdb Scrive 4.5.vshost.application Scrive 4.5.vshost.exe Scrive 4.5.vshost.exe.config Scrive 4.5.xml 5. Make sure the following files exist: CButtonLib.dll Interop.OLEDBError.dll MySql.Data.dll offline.accdb Scrive 4.5.exe Scrive 4.ico - (Name may very as long as Scrive.ico is there) 6. Your good to go!! Using Zip: 1. Go to where you put scrive at. 2. Delete all the following files if they exist: Scrive 4.5.application Scrive 4.5.exe.config Scrive 4.5.exe.manifest Scrive 4.5.pdb Scrive 4.5.vshost.application Scrive 4.5.vshost.exe Scrive 4.5.vshost.exe.config Scrive 4.5.xml 3. Make sure the following files exist: CButtonLib.dll Interop.OLEDBError.dll MySql.Data.dll offline.accdb Scrive 4.5.exe Scrive 4.ico - (Name may very as long as Scrive.ico is there) 4. Download latest zip 5. Copy files to where scrive is 6. Your done!
formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted May 12, 2009 Scrive 4.5 Release 2: We removed the need for a button to load the scripts. Note: Pictures don't work on any version, because the database is currently glitchy...don't know how long this will last.
Chief 30 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 you think its glitchy cuz the place its stored is a little slow? cuz I have unlimited hsoting and all that for about 2-3 years. if ya wanna use that, i can see how my partner would feel about it.

If your MySQL service can accept remote connections, then yes, that would be great. We just need one database, with two tables. If it's OK with your partner, I'll send you the SQL file to setup the database. All we'd need back was a MySQL user, password, and the db name.
Chief 30 Report post Posted May 14, 2009 well, Our current host just shut down, so we are being transfered to a new one. we will have it tuesday. ill talk it over with him then.

RMXPirate 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2009 That would be awesome chief! We released a new version of scrive.. hopefully this is the last time we need to update due to a huge bug within the next week! This update fixes the following problems: 4.5 Release 3 Patch Notes >> Moved to new database so scripts should load faster >> Upon moving to new database the scripts images now work >> Removed the need for load script button Also good news, I will be working on scrive 3.0 within the next week to release a much needed update. Since we worked on 4.0 3.0 was forgotten and I am sorry to all those who are forced to use 3.0 due to 4.0 only working online. I will have a release within the next few days and dont worry Scrive 5.0 will be both online and offline!!

Polraudio 122 Report post Posted May 17, 2009 How's the next version coming along?
formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted May 17, 2009 How's the next version coming along? Slowly but surely its coming along. It's getting harder to implement the features we want for this version. I don't see Scrive 5.0 Beta coming out until possibly Mid to End of June. I could really use some extra hands in 5.0 I have most of the features in place, but getting them all working with logical sense is not easy at all.
formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 Scrive's data server is gone. Apparently, no money for payments. Until further notice, Scrive will not work. It will error on you every step until you get into the organizer. We're looking for a host to redirect traffic to, but don't hold your breath. Scrive Organizer will be released soon, and so will a beta of Scrive Offline. We'll get the online back up soon, but I don't know when. If you can help us out here, please let us know. Chief 30 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 umm, did you need hosting from me then? they did have problems, and so its not set up yet, but when it does, would you need hosting now?
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 What do you mean "hosting from me"?
formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 All we need now is just a MySQL server with remote connection capabilities, and a way to host files, typically MSI's, zips, rars, and txt files.
Chief 30 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 well, im not sure what that is. and im not sure when im supposed to get my hosting, but when I do ill let you know what exactly I have, and we can go from there.
formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted May 27, 2009 Sorry for the slow updates. I have fallen ill, running fevers ranging from 99.1 up to 102.0, so work on Scrive has been limited. So far, 5.0 is in alpha stages, but appears to run just fine. Possibly a release eventually. Also, Scrive Organizer and Scrive are separate programs. Scrive Organizer will run on Scrive 4.5's engine still, so no changes to it. 5.0 has been completely redesigned from the ground up, both in GUI and in codebase. We now have a beta of a MySQL handler courtesy of a friend of mine. We were up till 2am working on it, but it does work and is pretty fast. Our Data Access Layers for both online and offline have been completed, but are initiated at runtime, so startup time is roughly 5 or so seconds on my machine, but its heavily fragmented. Program is also vista compatible. Introduced to 5.0 is the new Scrive Offline database. It's an access database file, much like the organizer that is kept constantly updated by us. It's a measure so if your internet is out, Scrive won't error and throw you out. All these features will (eventually) be explained in a video I'll upload to youtube. Scrive Organizer's SQL Query bug will also be fixed to prevent faulty errors. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM/email me. Also note that the bug reporting features in 4.5 are down due to not having a server, as well as update checking. Bear with us, soon 5.0 alpha will be out! RMXPirate 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2009 Thank you formless! Scrive 4.5 Updates: Expect and update in the next hour or so with the newest 4.5! Since our server is down and weve moved to a new one this makes it so all who have scirve must download and instal scrive again. I know its annoying but we had no idea our host was gonna be gone on the 22nd! Sorry for the inconvenience but at least scrive is back!! Scrive 5.0 Updates: We are coming a long very well with scrive 5.0 and as form said a release may be expected soon. Dont expect much though it is only a alpha release :D. For those who cant wait here is a screenshot of 5.0(I decided not to put it in spoilers so you can see the changes instead of saying "if I open this will it look the exact same as 4.5 with a few fixes?"): It is not is it?! The answer is no it is not ding ding!! lol
RMXPirate 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Good News!! 4.5 News Scrive 4.5 is back online! formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 When you download Scrive 4.5 Release 4, you might notice something different. The Organizer is no longer part of the program! It is its own separate program, which means I can release the source code to you guys, meaning you can compile your own version of the Organizer! Now, we do have a few rules about the source code: 1. The source code must be distributed with any Compiled release you make. 2. Original Credit for the Organizer must go to: 2a. formlesstree4(me): For the Coding 2b. RMXPirate: For the GUI The Source Code is free for anyone to use or examine. I hope to inspire some people to help out with Scrive, or gather more users. Maybe one day we'll release the source of Scrive 4.5, you guys would love that :) Anyway, download links!
