Battle Formula

Question

How do you actually count how much damage a unit will get?

When I checked RPGmakers' Help, I saw this which is not right at all or maybe I just don't get it lol

Normal attacks:

Power = A's attack power - (B's physical defense ÷ 2)

Rate = 20 + A's strength <---(Is Rate considered as "will it hit the opponent or not"?)

Variance = 15 <---(What's a Variance? lol)

Minimum force: 0

And there is also a Second Hit, does anyone know that as well?

Can anyone explain this please? thanks!

I think Variance is how much of a chance you have on getting a critical hit. But for the secont hit i dont know.

Are you using RMXP or RMVX?

What Im getting from it is..

If character A. (Aluxes) has an attack power of 70 and character B (Ghost) has a defense power of 70

70 - 35 = 35

Aluxes will hit the Ghost for 35 damage.

With a Hit rate of 55

I believe the Variance would be random hit damage 35 - 55

Dont quote me on that.. I dont use the DBS.

Wow something I actually know about.

The variance is the percentage by which the damage can vary. After you've chugged all of the math for the damage output then every hit will do from 15% below to 15% above that damage.

Hmmm. I'm a little fuzzy on Rate. I'm pretty sure it's the chance of hitting, but don't quote me on that. As for the second hit, I'm pretty sure it has to do with applying status ailments, but I'm not entirely sure. It's been too long.

Yeah, I've kind of taken the whole battle mechanics apart and looked at how it ticked. You can really do a lot with it if you learn how.
