Downtime - Explaination

Sorry for the recent downtime everyone. I think it lasted about 5 days, which is quite a long time. The reason it took me so long to get the site back was because my computer broke the same day the site went down. It was actually my hard drive which caused my computer to not work, so I formatted the hard drive containing Windows which was surprising the wrong one, so I formatted another one(I have 5) and that luckily worked. Time for an upgrade I think :P

 

The problem with the site another Host screw up. No fault of our own. It didn't help I couldn't get on until a number of days after, but I started work on getting the site back up 6 hours, which was a stressful mess, but we're back now.

 

Things like this cannot be helped, but fortunately we lost no data. Welcome back everyone.

it scared me... I thought rmxp unimited was no more... i came back every day but only to see that there was no site there... i almost had a heart attack... so glad its back up.

It scared me too I thought this was the loss. Why dont you think about switching hosts marked so things like this don't happen :D? It is very retarted that trap17 expects you to post that much! Ive heard of a place called x10 hosting offers the same amount as trap 17 has 100 percent up time is very fast with forums everything :D and you don't need to post!!

He could always host it on my host, I have a lot of free space and unlimited MySQL Databases etc. I might get rid of some stuff on my server anyway (My Music Remixes), so that it runs faster.

Anything that is just as good as trap but doesn't do the posting requirement :D. HE could also do a payed host that gives him a good amount of stuff with a free domain that way he can be paying for both at the same time for equal or a bit more then he pays for the domain now :D

You're on there, right? I'm sure i've seen you there before. The posting is not so much a problem. Stuff like this is people messing up at their end, not mine. I was a bit worried though since the backup modification has been broken for over a month. But I backed up as soon as I could.

 

I've been thinking about getting a paid host. But I'm unsure about it.

That is a generous offer, but I don't know what I could give you in return. It would let me stay off my computer as long as I wanted to, which is never a bad thing. If you're serious, you can PM me.

 

Actually I had been thinking about putting ads on the site. Not for my benefit or even the sites benefit. We have a nice little operation set up here. Due to the free hosting, the cost of running the site is at $0(apart from the money already gone into it). We could donate all the money earned somewhere. Though I'm not sure how much we would generate, but we average 1000 page views a day. Just an idea.

The good thing with my host, is that if you refer someone to buy an account their, the buyer gets an extra 25GB disk space, and the referrer gets an extra 25GB storage space plus 2 months free hosting :D

No I didn't email everyone. That would probably cause most of our 2000 members to spam our emails so if we ever had an important update a lot of people wouldn't get the message. Besides it was only about 5 days of downtime, if they haven't noticed the place is back up, they are not very active anyway.

 

 

The forum is about to undergo even more downtime as we are moving servers. Isaacsol has kindly offered to host our site so we will be moving shortly. This will cause one or two days of downtime due to the nameservers of our domain. I'll make an announcement once we move about that.
