Help again... ^^ Random Questions RMXP

Question

Well like I said I'l be asking for alot of help around so here is my next question ^^ how do I make a sign? I made one ... but then it was glitchy and the picture was changing alot when I talk to it or it changes by itself.. and how can I make a convo like this?

 

Person 1 Hi...

Preson 2 * Main Chars* Hello....

Etc. And I don't mean like the choices things I know that already

To make a sign, you want to go into the event editor and find the "Direction Fix" option. Check that, and the sign won't change. To make a conversation:

 

Using Dubealex's script:

 

At the end of each text window place \name[n] with n being replaced by the name of the character who is talking.

 

Without Dubealex's script:

 

Put the name of the speaking character first. Example: "Shilan: My name is Shilan" Remember that when you switch people talking, to move to another text window. You don't want to stick two people in the same box. Example: "Shilan: My name is Shilan" "Zach: And my name is Zach" Does that help?

With scripts you can make conversations must more effective.

 

You can find Dubealexs Advanced message script here:

It has an instruction manual, but I recommend you download the demo. It has pre-made events with how to make the script work.

 

Without scripts you can also use this in the message window:

\n[id]

Replace id with the id of the character from your database. For example, in a new project, typing \n[0] in a message box will display in-game "Aluxes". This is useful for storyline characters, you can just chuck that in their and if you change a name you only have to change it in the database only.

Okay I get it now so... but if I want my char. to look like it's talking back to the other person should I use in the same event box do this?

 

Text: *1* Girl Hi *Main Char name*

 

Text *2* *Main Char name* Hello girl

 

like that? Cause do most people do that?

 

And I have another SERIES of questions.. ^^

 

1. Locked Doors

2.Locked Chests

3. Convo between 2 different people. EG. Man 1 I'll like a cup of tea please. Man 2 Okay *walks to him* Here you go *Walks back to counter*

4.Change actor EG. Actor 1 talks. ...Mean while Actor 2... then back to Actor 1

5.Deleting saves from Testplaying

6.Changing Starting Items weapons armor..etc

7.Summoning monster *not stay on battle* go on attacks then leave

8. I get the \n[#] but what if my char change.. is there a way that they know and can show the Char's name that their talking to

Thats all for now if I need help with some other things i'll ask you guys for help ^^

I've made a demo project for you, with most of what you are needing help with in one map.

 

The demo has the following:

Locked Doors: Using the condition of an item to unlock it

Locked Chest: Using a switch

Conversations between characters using the features of the AMS(message script)

Battle Eventing: An enemy attacks then the battle ends

Project3.zip

 

When you save the game a file is created in the Project directory. Delete the save file and the save slot will become empty again.

 

Also, in this demo I have done the door and chest a certain way. There are many other ways you can do it, but you should be able to come up with your own method once you learn how all the stuff is done in the demo. Just look through the events and see how its done, you'll pick it up easily.

^^ Thank you Marked... Umm can I ask you something? Can I use the faces.... and if it was from a sript was it that other link a few posts back? Also, I couldn't find how the starting items part.. so a little Hint Hint ...or better, just tell me would be nice. =)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that. Look at the event in the very top-left corner of the map. It has no graphic. I left a note in the event for you, but just notice how it's trigger is set to parallel process.

Dubealex's AMS script is used in that demo. Open up the script editor, I made it obvious that it is there. You need that script to use most of the message functions I've used in that demo. What I did forget was to add Dubealex's map with his examples of how to use the script. If you are going to use his script, you'd save time by copying that map to your project. You can find it in the link I posted above.

Thank you ^^'.... anyways I still need help on some on my questions. Like the summoning monster et a new question .... How do I add more things into my Menu Page? Like... Chars. Bio, Stats..more indepth...etc

Also is there a way that you can make a world map? Not like to see but to walk on ..like 1 place to another... cause I played a game called Aveyond and it was like based on RPG Maker so...ya. And do you have any recommended sites to download chars. sets and tile sets, etc.

And I forgot to mention...Locked Interior doors..Thank you ^^

What is summoning monster? I interpreted that as what I did in the demo I made.

 

Adding things to the menu page/screen would be done with scripts. Request one.. or browse our menu scripts: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/index.php/rmx...nu-systems.html

 

 

To make world maps you just get a world-map tileset. Or you could use events with Charactersets like this:

What kind of Chars you after? We got plenty. We have:

Thank you for those sites... anyways lets finish answering some questions

 

1. Summoning Monster: My example of that is like a F.F style, wherebout a monster/s ..in this case a summon, so lets say were in a battle vs a ..... rock...^^ and a Summoner, summons a ...fish ^^ and the fish slaps the rock then it dissapear... so my summon will appear in the middle of my screen and a picture of a fish appears then it will do an animation and the fish dissapear and thats about it ^^

and by animation I mean like the ones that are inbuild with the game's system not like a WHOLE BIG 3-D animation

Thats were I learn to make doors... and I use the same style for interior and exterior

But because you also used Contional Branch KEY used... I don't know where to put that in on my style of door...so a little help please?
