Re-Installing RPG MAKER XP

Question

My harddrive in my laptop failed, and I was forced to buy a whole new computer system. I lost everything on it, and I want to re-install my RPG XP Maker on my new desktop pc. It runs Vista (I couldn't get anything else, XP requires ordering, and I had to have a working system immediately). I have my proof of purchase from Protexis, and my serial # and activation code, and I thought I could download the trial version, and just enter my info, but the download I got refuses to open, it says "Failed to obtain a trial serial number from nTitles server", so there's no way to enter the info I have to reactivate it.

Has EnterBrain stopped issuing trials of XP?

If so, how do I replace it, without paying for it twice?

I found no contact info for EnterBrain on their site, and am not sure how to reach the company with this question.

Anyone got a suggestion? <_<

Failed to obtain a trial serial number from nTitles server

This means you are not connected to the internet. You need to be on the internet when opening up RMXP for the first time. So make sure you have the internet before you open it again so it can get the serial number then you can enter your activation code.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm getting that message no matter what I do, even when I'm definitely on line....any other ideas?

*sniffle* I really want my RMXP back, I lost my maps and some of my game, but I still have my original tilesets I made from scratch on disk....

I dont see any other problem. I would try disabling your firewall when you open rmxp while on the internet. If that dont work there must be a problem with your internet.

*whew* what a lot of finangalling! Disabling the firewall wasn't the only thing I had to do to get this running on Vista, first I had to download a rgss102e.dll application, then I had to establish a compatability mode to run it in, and finally it's up and running as a trial version. When I entered my serial number, it refused to take it, saying my copy was already registered (of course it was, I got it for Christmas 2006), and I just now got an e-mail from Protexis saying my serial is reactivated, go ahead and update it.

HOWEVER --- I opened the trial version to play with it, and THERE ARE NO GRAPHICS! NOTHING! I can't believe my eyes, in the data and material base all the names and numbers of the stock tilesets, sprites, everything is listed, but the files all read (none) and (empty)!

What now? I have actually tried downloading it from tucows site instead after removing it once, and the same thing, NO GRAPHICS.

I'm freakin' out. Where is Aluxes, and all the other chars we are all so used to seeing all over the place........I'll have to download everything from sites on the net to get it all back in the program, but why isn't it already in there?

totally confused...........
