Character Information

------------------------------

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Occupation: None. Janys is provided food and shelter by her family until she leaves the clan and forages for her own food.

Birthdate: IC. 351

Birthplace: Djinn, Augorland.

Character Race (Physical description): Marilith. She has the face and upper body of a woman, the lower body of a medium-sized snake (slithering body, tail, etc.). Mariliths also have 6 arms, 3 on each side.

Known family: Her mother and father are her only known family.

Other relationships: Janys has many friends throughout the city. Almost everyone knows her name and can recognize her voice a mile away. Other than her parents, she maintains a mututal relationship with the city basically.

Personality: Out of all those who she trains with, Janys is positively the most loose member of the clan. Her attitude in public would lead you to believe she has not a care in the world and only lives to ensure everyone around her is happy. In group gatherings, she is always the first one grab people's attention with her wild stories and whimsical humorn and often the last one to leave - making sure to have a quick prayer to wish everyone safety on their journey back home. Underneath this mask of sanity, however, lies a gruesome and horrifying persona. She often lusts for extreme emotions, such as anger, fear, and rage - so she hurts herself and leaps into dangerous situations to feel that rush of excitement one feels when they are closer to death than ever. Cuts and bruises by her own hand are common. Although she can become mentally unstable when alone, she is an excellent leader, as her training has revealed. She knows how to deal with people easier than others, as she is like a mother - sympathetic and caring, yet strong and willed.

History: Janys' history is pretty normal compared to the lives of most Reks members, although there is one thing about her that striked as quite odd while she was growing up. She was constantly being repremanded for throwing herself into fights with older kids and causing all sorts of mayhem. Each time she was caught, her reply was always, "I didn't do it! It wasn't me!". This, of course, was always bypassed and she was punished for all her bad-deeds. The funny thing is that, at such a young age, she was quite strong. She fought with the mastery of someone much older than her. Her strategies in these fights were remarkable, to say the least, unfortunately her body lacked the amount of strength in order to keep up with her mind. Other than this weird flaw that people thought she had, she grew up just as cheery and joyful as any of the other children, if not happier.

The city of [Djinn]: This city is of utmost importance to why the Marilith as such an unknown species. Many years ago, when the Witch Queen first took hold of the reigns of power of Augorland, the Mariliths were still but a few members (the first Reks members), 40 at most, living within the capital. People looked upon them as monsters, mixed beings which should not exist. They were mistreated and disrespected daily, but the Reks did not fight this. They held more wisdom then to fight against their situation. They know that the battle fought wisely is the battle not fought at all, and refused to lower themselves to that of the citizens who taunted them daily. The Witch Queen was not perticularly fond of them either. She ordered her guards to hunt down these nasty creatures, killing on sight. Half the clan was killed within minutes. It was a slaughter. What happened next would change the way these creatures lived forever. Something triggered in the clan members after seeing their brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers being brutally sliced up and gutted right before their very eyes. What triggered was their Mental Relaxation abilities [more on this later], which they had long forgotten since moving into the city. Only this time, each member become very powerful and not willing to stand down and be hunted like kobolds. They fought back. Every soldier hunting them, they fought. Every vile word spewed from that of ignorant citizen resulted in him being killed. The Mariliths fought back their Genocide with much hate and malice in their hearts. Not only did they hate what was being done to them, but they hated themselves for allowing this persecution to continue without standing up for themselves. After days of fighting, the Marilith were tired and very cold. Marulus Reks, the leader of the clan then and soon to be father of Janys Reks, decided it was time for them to leave. He realized that fighting against an extreme prejudice was not going to help anyone. He walked into the destroyed city, stood in the center, and closed his eyes. Now that he was a walking target, soldiers swarmed around him, waiting for his next move. He titled his head upwards and yelled 'Epicus Doomicus Metallicus'[more on this later]. Everything stopped. Time was tricked and manipulated to his will now. He returned to the remaining members of the clan and fled the city. Soon after, once his 'spell' had been broken, the city was in ruins - with nobody knowing quite what happened.

The Marilith fled the city to the far, far regions of Augorland. Along their journey, they met up with many more just like them - scavengers looking for a home, also shunned from their societies. So, Marulus willingly took them in and began constructing training grounds. Years later, this would be known as Djinn city of Augorland.

Weapons: Janys owns 6 swords. Each one serves a different purpose and holds special skills to aid her in combat.

*Sword 1:Romonas Pugio - A small sword that is excellent for a close quarters fight. It is comprised of a wooden hilt and paired with a fully tempered high carbon steel blade.*

*Sword 2: Maintz Patterna - This is another side arm sword used for close combat situations. It is warped and has a long point. The hilt is made of Kobold bones and brass.

*Sword 3: Falcata - An extremely deadly weapon created for critical situations. It has an inward curve to the blade, allowing it to split both shields and helmets alike. High carbon steel and a brass hilt combine to make it easy to carry, even though it is a fairly long sword.

Sword 4: Cold Steel Katana - A japanese oriented sword, it has a sturdy steel furniture and a cotton cord grip, giving it an excellent hold. Its length, combined with the cold steel blade, give it excellent potential.

Sword 5: Snake Sword - This is Janys's more popular sword. The handle is curved specificially for her hands, giving her a quick and powerful mastery over this sword. The edge has a sharp protruding inside edge, making it lethal most of the time it hits its target. With this protruding out of the edge, it allows Janys to hit multiple targets at once.

Sword 6: Pirate Captain Blade - This blade is slightly curved, allowing for a good striking distance for Janys. The blade's brass and iron finishings make it a powerful weapon to hold.

Special Abilities - The Reks family has two techniques exclusive to their species. The first is called "Mental Relaxation".

Now, every Reks holds two mentalities - their own personality, and the personality of a second, hidden, being. This 'other' being is stored away in the back of their minds until needed. If a Marilith is overstressed, such as one who has been fighting for days without rest, she can use "Mental Relaxation", which allows the 'other' being to gain temporary control of that Marilith's mind while she rests. The 'other' being is usually a family member who has died, since the mind of a Marilith lives on years after its physical body has disappeared.

The second technique is called "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus". This ability allows the Marilith to do two things - it projects "doom" over the area around it. This means that all creatures within a certain range of this Marilith will slow down considerably, though they will not notice it themselves. The second thing it does is project false images into the enemy's mind. Basically, it makes the enemy think that the Marilith is moving even slower than he is. As you can tell, this technique greatly affects the way speed is determined in a battle.
