Polraudio 122 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 We've been having lots of spam bots on the forum lately and its driving me nuts. Is there anything we can do about it?
Marked 197 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 Huh?... there hasn't been a spambot since the 5th and it's now the 10th(my time). We stopped seem to have stopped them. At the cost of a couple of members though. At the moment no one can sign up with a Gmail account and there is also email validation required. We've got 17 members at the moment awaiting validation...what a pain. Well anyway, don't worry about the spambots. If all else fails we have a backup plan. Which is like, awesome. It could just destroy the forums so we're waiting until they get out of control to do that ;)

isaacsol 10 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 One way to stop spam-bots is to install the reCAPTCHA mod, it improves the CAPTCHA entry system for guests and on registration, and it is a free mod. Look on Invision Modding :)

Look on Invision Modding :) Actually, I think that's what we're worried about...the forum has been running fine lately...but everytime Marked adds a mod or something, it kills the forum for a day. So, we're trying to avoid anything that could kill the forum (like installing mods and such). If it comes down to it, we will, but as long as we're fine now, we don't need to. This part will sound weird...but it's like...you don't put Draino down a drain that isn't clogged. If it's working fine, then leave it that way. Might it get clogged later? Yes, but Draino won't fix it now, but when the clog happens, then it will fix the problem. I've seen it where Draino cleans the drain, but then you get a clog and Draino won't fix it, where as, if you hadn't used it before, you might have gotten a clog, but the Draino WOULD have fixed it... I hope all that makes sense and isn't non-sensical(sp?) ramblings ^^"
isaacsol 10 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 That is understandable. If you ever need the mod, I will send it over to you Mark :)
