Marked 197 Report post Posted November 30, 2008 Of course I've heard about thanks giving, but we don't have it in New Zealand. Isn't it like a holiday to give thanks for what you have? We have turkey on new years though, but for some reason I cannot remember that day every year. Thats weird. :)
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted November 30, 2008 Yeah, supposedly back in the day when the "pilgrim" landed on Plymouth, they were in for a harsh winter. But the local Indians helped them survive it or something. To give thanks, they all shared this big ass meal.. I think. I'm no history expert. lol. So now like, on Nov. the something, we cook a shit load of food and have the turkey as a main course and just chow down. Plus we get out of school.

tommygunner70 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2008 Thanks Giving... What is it really? To the point of view of this here Dutch guy, it seems like nothing more then an excuse to be with your family while stuffing your face up with food.
Wyzrd 12 Report post Posted December 2, 2008 Well the point behind it is that we in America probably would have died if the Indians hadn't thaught us how to grow food and survive. So it's a holiday to celebrate are existence. Though I think it's an excuse to eat too but w.e.
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted December 2, 2008 There's no reason to complain about something that gives us a day off from work to eat a bunch of food and spend time with our family members!
