RMVX Problem

Question

For an odd reason, I tried to open my RMVX Game Data, but I got some message saying "Unexpected file format." Any idea why?

Quick Add-on: Luckily, I did very little on the game, even though it took me a long time. I may just have to remake the game if I can't deal with this problem. But still, Help with it is always nice.

Why are you trying to open your Game Data?

Maybe I should make it clearer. I'm trying to open a game in RPG Maker VX so I can continue to edit it, work on it, or anything among those lines and it keeps giving me some message saying "Unexpected File Format." in those exact words. Whats wrong?

I had this same thing happen to me. The files got corrupted and i couldn't open it. Well there is a few things you could try. Starting a new project, Take the rmvx data files and replace yours (Exclude Map Info. Keep that.). I lost a years work due to this. Always make a backup every day.

Starting a new project, Take the rmvx data files and replace yours (Exclude Map Info. Keep that.).

That worked, in replacing what the message says. Now it says "Failed to load script data." Any idea what to do now?

*Sorry about the double post, but I got it to work now*

Make a new project, and put all the scripts you had from the broken project into it (ALL of them!). From there, copy all the files in the Data Folder except for the one called Scripts. Once thats done, the game should be ok, just under a new name, which can easily be fixed. Oh, and don't forget to copy the Audio and Graphics folders.

EDIT by Emily_Konichi: Removed double post

....Or you could just reset the open process for RMVX and make sure all of the files have the right extension, then run it. (welcome back to me :P)
