Jesse66126 4 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 The steel docks are where the player can disembark. I'm still working on it.
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 Umm, why did you hold down the shift key? There is a world map tileset by conquistador or whatever, I have that if you want it.. Looks okay if you pretend you didn't hold down the shift key :D

Looks okay if you pretend you didn't hold down the shift key :D Shift key? my shift key accesses the menu screen. Originally, the shift key is the same as Enter on the default settings. It's a fully functional world map.The player can only move on the water, and the docks are where the player gets to the port towns.
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Im going to be a little harsh. No offense But the map looks a little square and i would avoid using the RTP sets to make a world map. i would use the one Kiriashi said. http://www.rpg-palace.com/downloads/details.php?id=

Jesse66126 4 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 World maps aren't that great in my opinion. They ruin any kind of realism. A picture map works better and its much easier to draw. Making the player have to walk/fly/drive/sail by boat to his/her destination allows for more leveling anyway. That one is alright. i would use the one i gave you a link to. You have to join to get it.(By forums then go to the page) I'm already a member of like 20 different forums(and I don't remember my passwords on 1/2 of them...). I'm not joining a new one. Jesse66126 4 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 My world map is still more geographically accurate though. =) heh A livable planet will always have icelands(tundra, etc) in the north AND south regions of the planet and be hot climated(savanna, deserts, etc) along the middle. Course it could just be an unexplorable section. Also another note, never part light skinned sprites as the native people in the desert and savanna regions. Basic science with tell you, skin darkens as it's exposed to sun light. So,the natives on the desert village could never be milk white.
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 So you don't understand what I mean about the shift key? I guess it doesn't look that square. When making a map in XP, make a stream of water, then make another one next to it while holding the shift key, you'll see the difference!

I usually select the tile i want piece by piece.
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Ah, well I would like to see what you can come up with now that you have the famous tileset. POST IT! ~Kiriashi!~ (It is more geographically correct)
Jesse66126 4 Report post Posted February 24, 2009 Ah, well I would like to see what you can come up with now that you have the famous tileset. POST IT! ~Kiriashi!~ (It is more geographically correct) it has a desert where Antarctica should be lol,the deserts should be along the middle of the map. A rookie mistake,to be sure, but one I'd never make!
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 I don't really understand what you mean. Post another map! I wanna see more world maps outta you.
Jesse66126 4 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 I don't really understand what you mean. Post another map! I wanna see more world maps outta you. I'm saying that there are very cold icy areas on both the most north regions of the world and the most southern regions. This map, made by Inquisitor has a desert where this planet's equivalent of Antarctica should be: This is what Earth looks like: See the sun doesn't distributed heat throughout the planet evenly,so the top and bottom of the planet are generally frozen wastelands, while the middle regions along the equator are hot lush rain forests and arid deserts. Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 Oh now I see what you are talking about. Did you make that map? It looks really good! ..Oh, I thought you said made by Inquisitor's tileset, not made by Inquisitor.
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 the map is made by Inquisitor too. EDIT: Also it could be on a different planet so there dont have to be ice and snow on it.
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 Well yeah. I've never actually used Inq's tilesets before. I wonder what I could do with them.
Jesse66126 4 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 the map is made by Inquisitor too.EDIT: Also it could be on a different planet so there dont have to be ice and snow on it. All hospitable planets have some snow or ice on them unless it has two suns. It has to do with the rotation of the planet.
