EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 Welcome to The Great Legend of Zelda. This is a novel that tells the story of my current idea of the Legend of Zelda timeline. I will be completing this before I begin the rewrites to any of my Zelda stories, so if you want a story from me, come here until it's done :P Chapter 1 Chapter 1: How It All Began Come, my children, and you will hear a tale of Hyrule, and how it all began. It is an ancient legend, one that we call the Legend of Zelda. It was the time before time, and all of Hyrule had yet to be formed. The land was nothing but a void of darkness and chaos, but it was in this time that the three great Goddesses descended from another land, coming to ours. The three Goddesses, Din, Nayru, and Farore, descended upon our world, and the land began to call to them. It called out, seeking guidance. It screamed, “Who am I? What is my purpose?” And the Goddesses spoke nothing and just smiled. After a time, immeasurable in our time, the Goddesses finally spoke. “You are Hyrule,” was what they spoke, and their work began. Din, the Goddess of Power, descended upon the land first. Using her flaming arms, she cultivated the land and formed the earth from the chaos. Nayru, Goddess of Wisdom and Time, descended upon the land second. She poured out her spirit and gave the world the spirit of law. This law gave the land its purpose, and gave the land time. It was then that the cycle was born – birth, life, death. Farore, the Goddess of Courage, was the last to descend upon the land. Using her powers, she brought forth life. Her powers created the grass and the trees. She formed the animals of the air, the animals of the water, and the animals of the land. Lastly, she formed the races that would dominate the world, and to all the animals, races, plants, creatures, and everything else with life, she gave the command to uphold the law of the world. From their, the Great Goddesses returned to the heavens, and where they left, three golden triangles were left behind. These triangles became known as the Triforce, an object with the ability to grant the wish of the one who touches it. The land that it lied in became known as the Sacred Realm, and it was there that the Triforce remained for years to come. There were then seven who rose to power, each of a different race. They became known as the Sages of Hyrule. They each were given the power to hear the Goddesses who would allow them to foresee the future. What they saw, they wrote down, writing many prophecies of the future, as well as researching the past. One woman then compiled these writings together; her name was Mudora. And so, the book compiled by Mudora came to be known as the Book of Mudora, and from there, the book was passed down from generation to generation, always passed down to the head sage of the time. However, one day, the sages vanished, and with them, so did the Book of Mudora. With the Book of Mudora lost, the races grew, forgetting the ancient prophecies the sages had spoken, and soon the races began a great war that threatened to destroy the land. One race in particular, their real name lost to the sands of time, managed to reach the Sacred Realm and tried to control the power of the Triforce. The Goddesses, knowing the evils that would come from this, quickly dispatched four beings known as the Light Spirits to the world. They created an ancient mirror, and thrust the race within it. The realm within the mirror became known as the Twilight Realm, for there it was always twilight. It is said, that once a day, during the Hour of Twilight, their world and hours intersect. After the race had been sealed away, and their magic powers scattered through Hyrule, the war between the races continued once more. However, a small race of creatures known as the Minish grew tired of the battling. Using the power of the elements, they fused a mighty blade that would give the wielder power beyond imagining. They then took it and gave it to a man garbed in green. This man, who was named Gustaf, then ended the war and sealed the darkness of the world within a pedestal, using the Picori Blade, as it came to be known, to seal the creatures within. He then became the first King of Hyrule. From there, Gustaf ruled the land, baring a son some many years later. This son, the Prince of Hyrule, was named Daltus, and when Gustaf’s reign ended, he became King. He then bore only a single daughter, naming her Zelda, which meant “Cherished One” for Zelda was his most cherished child, as her mother died at birth. Zelda then grew and aged, and along the way she found a boy named Link, who became her best friend, though he was nothing more then a simple peasant, working with his grandfather named Smith. Once a year, the land of Hyrule held a festival to celebrate the Picori, as the Minish had come to be known. This year marked one hundred years since the Picori had given the sword to Gustaf, and this year the festival was even grander. At every festival they held a tournament, but this year, a man garbed in nothing but purple robes appeared. He claimed his name to be Vaati, and he won the tournament in an almost magical way. From this victory, he was granted the privilege to touch the Picori Blade. However, he had other plans. Once the pedestal had been brought forth, Vaati reached forward, as if to touch the blade, then laughed and mocked the Kingdom of Hyrule. With a spell, he blasted away the guards, and with another spell, he shattered the Picori Blade, unleashing the evil that had been locked away inside the pedestal for so long. He then went forth, as if to claim something, but Princess Zelda and Link stood in his way. With a curse, Vaati turned Zelda to stone and knocked Link out, then went forth to the pedestal, but he found it void of any prize. He then turned and vanished, stating that he would find his prize, which he called the Light Force, and that all of Hyrule would be his as soon as it was found. Link awoke much later, and upon discovering Zelda in stone, King Daltus sent him off on a quest to reforge the Picori Blade, which could only be done by the Picori themselves. He traveled to the far woods known as the Minish Woods, where the Picori were rumored to live, and there, within, he met a hat of a creature known as Ezlo. With Ezlo at his side, Link found the ability to shrink down to the size of the Picori, as it turned out they were actually a tiny race, no bigger then bugs. He could also return to his normal size as well, and using this ability, he met with the Picori Elder, who told him that he would need the Four Elements, which were crystallized forms of fire, earth, water, and air. Their power, combined with the strength of the greatest of the Picori blacksmiths, Melari, could reforge the sacred Picori Blade. With Ezlo at his side, Link then traveled to the four corners of Hyrule, slaying great beasts while collecting the Four Elements. With all four in hand, he met with Melari, who reforged the blade. However, Melari did not have the power to fuse the Elements with the blade, only the Elemental Sanctuary had that power. So, Link journeyed back to Hyrule Castle in search of the Elemental Sanctuary that was rumored to lie there. In the midst of Link’s quest, Vaati had returned, brainwashing the King of Hyrule to do his bidding. He then met with Link where he revealed the truth about himself and Ezlo. He had been the apprentice of Ezlo, and both of them had been Minish at one time. He then revealed that Ezlo had forged a cap known as the Minish Cap, which had the power to grant wishes to anyone who wore it. Vaati had wished for power, and when he got it, he became thirsty for more, and thus began his search for the Light Force, which was said to hold infinite power. Afterwards, Vaati seemed to disappear, and Link was left to return to his quest. Once all four elements were his, and he had met Melari, he journeyed to Hyrule Castle, where he found the entrance to the Elemental Sanctuary. Inside, he placed the Four Elements in a circle around the new sacred blade, which Melari called the White Sword. The Sanctuary then fused the powers of the Elements into the blade, and Ezlo named the completed sword the Four Sword. However, within the Elemental Sanctuary was also a tablet that told what had happened to the Light Force. The truth was that the Picori had given Gustaf not only the Picori Blade, but also the Light Force, and it was then passed down through the lines of the Royal Family. This was what Vaati had been looking for, and unknown to Link and Ezlo, he had found it because of them. Vaati then captured Princess Zelda, and Link was forced to travel through a twisted form of Hyrule Castle, one in which Vaati had created for his ritual. The bell of Hyrule Town then began to ring, and as each ring passed, Zelda’s power grew weaker. Link, however, did not surrender, and before the ritual was completed, Link was able to jump in and stop Vaati. However, Vaati had already consumed much of the Light Force, and using its power, he became an abomination. He called himself a god, and Link now used the full power of the Four Sword to fight him. It is said he was able to split himself into four, and with their powers combined, they were able to defeat the dark wizard. However, as Link went to deliver the final blow, the Goddesses gifted him with a vision of the future. Upon seeing it, he spared Vaati’s life, but knowing the vile beast would just return if given the chance, he sealed Vaati away within the sword, then returned the sword to the Elemental Sanctuary. With Vaati defeated, all of his curses were broken, and the land returned to what it once was before Vaati attacked. Ezlo now returned to his normal self and took the Picori Blade and sealed it away within the Elemental Sanctuary. There, within, the sword could never be touched, and so it would remain there for as long as it was required. Ezlo and Link then parted ways, and as a final gift, Ezlo gave unto Link a small hat. It was nothing truly special, just a green hat to fit his green uniform. And so, with that, they parted ways, and the two never saw each other again. Link grew up into a fine man, and he and Zelda were married. However, not all remained peaceful, for it was only a few years later when a great uprising occurred. An evil man, who called himself Mandrag Ganon, attempted to take the land of Hyrule by force. It was then revealed that Ganon had been behind the first war, and had been sealed away within the pedestal as well. However, now free, he rampaged the world, and without the Picori Blade to stop him, Ganon quickly swept the country, destroying most of Hyrule. Those who survived fled into other lands, and Ganon and his forces began to seek them out. Link and Zelda then turned to their only hope for salvation, the Triforce. They entered the Sacred Realm, and there within, they took the Triforce for themselves and used its power to destroy Ganon’s body and seal his spirit away. However, such a thing did not come without a price, and the Goddesses themselves cursed both Link and Zelda for their actions. Thus began what has been called the Cycle of Eternity. It is a cycle in Hyrule that every one hundred years a hero and a princess would be born and arise to fight a great evil. However, their lives were cut, allowing them only sixty years of life. On top of that, they would have no memory of their pasts, unless they came in contact with the spirit of their former lives that were also cursed to walk the world until they found the new hero and new princess. With this, the skills of the princess and the hero could be passed on, and their spirits re-incarnated time and time again, until they had paid for the crimes they had committed. Also, please feel free to comment at any time. I'd love to hear what you think about it!
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 Chapter 2 Chapter 2: The Legend of the Ocarina of Time The seven sages, fearing that another war may begin again, took a special metal that was the rarest of them all. They took every bit and piece of it, and they forged it into a single blade. Only three other swords had been forged of this material. One was the Picori Blade, or Four Sword as it was now called, but the other two remaining blades were forged by the Gerudo tribe, who lived in the western deserts of Hyrule. The sages, taking the remaining pieces of the metal, forged them into a single blade, which was then blessed by Farore herself. Time would record that the blade was forged by Farore, when in truth, it was only given its sacred powers by her. The blade became known as the Master Sword, which also goes by many other names, such as the Evil-Slaying Sword, Evil-Repelling Sword, and Evil’s Bane. The sages then placed the sword at the crossroads between the Sacred Realm and Hyrule, sealing the gateway. It could only be re-opened by taking the Master Sword, which could only be taken by one of great courage. The Master Sword was then sealed away, and three stones were forged, the Sacred Stones of Forest, Fire, and Water, which also became known as the Kokiri Emerald, Goron Ruby, and Zora Sapphire, as they were then given to each race. A fourth piece was then forged, created using magics unknown to us now. These magics allowed them to forge a small ocarina, which the Hylian Family kept protected at all times. This ocarina was the key to the Master Sword, for the only way to open the Door of Time, which was a massive wall that locked away the Master Sword, was to collect the three Spiritual Stones and place them upon a pedestal in front of the Door of Time. From there, the ocarina had to be played, and a special song created just for this purpose had to be played. Thus, the song and the ocarina got their names, the Song of Time and the Ocarina of Time. The doorway remained sealed for a hundred years, and the legend of the Ocarina of Time was kept well hidden, but not well enough. Over the course of the next one hundred years, the Kingdom of Hyrule obtained a pact with the other races. They would have peace; so long as Hyrule came to their side should it be needed. However, the Gerudo knew of this pact, for they too had accepted it, and it was then that they began their move. The King of the Gerudo was a man by the name of Ganondorf Dragmire. He had been born to one of the Gerudo, who were actually a race consisting of nothing but women. For only one boy was born every one hundred years to the Gerudo, and that boy was immediately made King of all the Gerudo. However, the mother died in child birth, and the child was given to two twin witches who had brought the Gerudo up and taught them the ways of magic. They were Kotake and Koume, who also went under the names Twinrova and the Twin Witches of Spirit. Twinrova raised Ganondorf up, teaching him the legends of the Triforce and the Ocarina of Time. They made him lust for power, and some believe they even infused the spirit of their master, Mandrag Ganon, into his body, for Mandrag Ganon had been the last King of the Gerudos, and it would have been no surprise if they had been trying to resurrect him somehow. Finally, as the one hundred years came to an end, a new Link was born to a very noble family of knights. However, four months after his birth, Ganondorf made his move. He convinced the Goron and Zora tribes that each of them was entitled to the entirety of Death Mountain. The Zora lived at the bottom, where there were connections to the seas and oceans of Hyrule, and even a connection to Lake Hylia itself, the place people call “The Source of Life”. For it was there, at Lake Hylia, where the races first awoke when Farore created them, and they then branched off from there. The Gorons, however, lived in the higher points of the mountain, where the rocks were fresher, and the heat was higher. You see, the Goron were a race of rock eaters, and their very skin was made of rock, thus, they felt the need to live in warm places, and they had found a home in Death Mountain. It was then, once both races were convinced of their course of action, that a great war erupted between the races, and they both called to Hyrule for aid. At first, the King refused, but slowly the citizens grew more and more worried that the war would erupt onto their side. So, they pledged the King to make a move, and the Kingdom of Hyrule was soon divided into three sects. There were those who wished to aid the Goron, those who wished to aid the Zora, and those who still wished to stay neutral. Finally, the King was forced to make a decision, and the result caused an outrage throughout the kingdom that caused the citizens to begin killing one another. In this uproar, Link’s father fought hard to protect his family, but he fell fighting. Link’s mother, a beautiful woman by the name of Shihara, quickly took her child to the south forest, where the Kokiri Forest existed. However, she was followed by Gerudo warriors who learned of who the baby was and planned to kill it to prevent their master’s plan from failing. Shihara was then chased to the forest, where she managed to kill her pursuers, but at a heavy cost. She stumbled into the forest, bleeding and dying, and she gave her child up to the Kokiri who lived there, which were a small race of Hylian-like people who did not age, and were forever trapped in the form of a child no older then ten. It was here, within the Kokiri Forest, that Link grew and aged until he reached the age of eleven. At this point, the war had ended, and peace had existed in the Kingdom for many years. With Ganondorf’s plan foiled, he began to search the land for the three Spiritual Stones, all the while he pledged allegiance to the King of Hyrule, and swore he would protect the land. Ganondorf then met with the three holders of the Spiritual Stones, and when they would not give them up, he cursed them all. It was because of this that Link was called forward to do the task he was born to do. He was called by the Great Deku Tree, Father of the Kokiri, and Guardian of the Kokiri Emerald, and Link fought against the evil monster Gohma, freeing the Deku Tree from the curse. However, it was too late, and the Deku Tree passed on, but not before entrusting the Kokiri Emerald to Link, as well as a small fairy named Navi. The two were then told to head to Hyrule and meet with the Princess of Destiny, who was the new Princess Zelda. Once in Hyrule, Link did just that, and Zelda persuaded Link to go after the other two Spiritual Stones in a hope that they could get the Triforce before Ganondorf could. Neither had memories of their previous life, and thus neither knew of the curse placed upon them for doing a similar act a hundred years before. Link then headed off to Death Mountain, where he met with the Goron tribe. There he discovered that Ganondorf had cursed a place known as Dodongo’s Cavern so that a massive dragon would strike any who entered, and without the cavern open, the Goron could not survive, for it was there, inside the cave, that the best tasting rocks existed, and nothing else could compare to them. Link spoke with the leader, Darunia, and at first he had no desire to take Link’s aid, but when he found his spirits lifted by a song Link played from the Kokiri Forest, Darunia agreed to let Link go and try his best to aid them. Link then entered the cavern and fought against the evil dragon inside. He quickly destroyed it by throwing a Bomb Flower into the creature’s mouth, causing it to explode. The Goron thanked him, then handed him the Spiritual Stone of Fire as thanks. They then sent him on his way, and he journeyed to the bottom of the mountain, where the Zora existed. There, within Zora’s Domain, he met with King Zora, but he would not agree to give the Spiritual Stone of Water away. Link then found that the Princess of the Zora, Ruto, had been eaten by the Zora’s Guardian, Jabu Jabu. Upon discovery, King Zora allowed Link entry into Jabu Jabu’s domain, and once there, Link found a way inside Jabu Jabu’s belly. Once inside, Link discovered a curse upon Jabu Jabu that caused the great whale to fall sick. The curse was a large parasite of a creature called Barinade, and Link quickly dispatched the monster. Once destroyed, Princess Ruto willingly gave Link the Spiritual Stone of Water. With all three, he then journeyed back to Hyrule, only to find it under siege by Ganondorf himself. Link rushed in and rushed to Zelda’s aid. Quickly, as she made her escape, Zelda gave Link the Ocarina of Time, then taught him the Song of Time. Link then swore to save Zelda, and he rushed forward into the Temple of Time and opened the Door of Time. There, upon the Pedestal of Time, he found the Master Sword, and Link drew it from the pedestal, but the Master Sword itself had other plans, and it locked his soul away for seven long years. As Link awoke, he found himself in a strange place. The sky was darkened, and the ground beneath him was dead. He was now in a place known as the Dark World, and it had been seven long years. He then heard a voice telling him to find the Sage of Light, and after making his way through monsters, he found the Sage of Light within an old temple. It was there that Link first learned of what had happened. Ganondorf had used the passage the Link opened and taken the Triforce, but only a piece of it had gone to him. The other two pieces separated and went to others. One piece was his, but since Link had been sealed away, the Triforce had not gone to him. The Sage of Light, however, had held the Triforce to keep it safe, and now gave Link his piece, the Triforce of Courage. He then gave Link a small medallion, and the power of the Master Sword began to awake when the medallion touched it. Link was then sent into Hyrule and was told to search for the other five sages. Link did just as he was told, and in his search he found Saria was the Sage of Forest, Darunia was the Sage of Fire, Ruto was the Sage of Water, Zelda’s nurse – Impa – was the Sage of Shadow, and Ganondorf’s second-in-command – Nabooru – was the Sage of Spirit. The six sages, their powers now combined, created a bridge into Ganondorf’s Tower, and, after watching Princess Zelda get stolen away from him, Link quickly crossed the bridge, entering the tower. He then fought through six trials, opening the way deeper into Ganondorf’s Tower. He then made his way up, stopping as he entered a large room where Ganondorf and Zelda awaited him. It was here that Ganondorf and Link had their final, great battle, and Link defeated the evil wizard. However, with his last breath he caused the tower to crumble down, and Link and Zelda were forced to escape quickly, barely escaping the tower with their lives. However, Ganondorf was not yet defeated. Crazed with vengeance, and a burning desire to destroy Link and Zelda, Ganondorf allowed the spirit of Mandrag Ganon to overcome him, and, using the Triforce of Power that was his, Ganondorf transformed into a pig-like demon creature. Link and Zelda prepared themselves for this final battle, and as Link fought the creature, Zelda used the Triforce of Wisdom that was hers and cast a mighty spell. She summoned the power of the six sages, and together, as the Seven Sages of Hyrule, they pulled Ganondorf into the Dark World, sealing him away. With Ganondorf gone, peace returned to Hyrule. However, Princess Zelda had no desire to leave Link the way he was. She took the Master Sword and the Ocarina of Time from him, then, using her powers as the seventh sage, she returned Link back to his own time so he may live out the seven years he had lost. Now, back in his own time, and knowing the future, Link met with the King of Hyrule and warned him of Ganondorf’s deceit. At once, the King of Hyrule had Ganondorf sent off to be executed, and he called upon the six sages to perform the ritual. The six sages did as commanded, and using a special blade of their own, they stabbed Ganondorf within the heart, but, as if by some divine prank, Ganondorf had already obtained the Triforce of Power, and its power prevented his death. At once, the six sages opened the Twilight Mirror, and at the loss of one of their own, they sealed Ganondorf away within the Twilight Realm. From there, peace returned to Hyrule, but now a disturbance had been caused. Hyrule now existed within two realms, within two separate times, and down each line, the Legend of Zelda would continue with vastly great tales upon either side. EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 hehe, your welcome ^^ But don't take all of this as 100% truth. There are modified bits here and there (specifically chapter 1). Once I finish with this, I'll be rewriting all the novels I've done to fit this timeline. Also, chapter 3! Chapter 3 Chapter 3: The Legend of the Wind Waker It was the time after Link vanished, and Hyrule had returned to peace. With Ganondorf trapped within the Sacred Realm, it was thought that Hyrule would remain at peace forever. However, as fate would have it, a hundred years later, an evil wind seem to come from Death Mountain. It began to choke the citizens of Hyrule, and they fell to its evil. It seemed the seal of the seven sages wasn’t enough, for Ganondorf had found a way around it, and freed himself from his prison. He amassed an army and laid siege to Hyrule, and the Hylians began to pray for the return of the great hero. However, this time, none came. The people cried out “Save us, Goddesses!” as they were slaughtered in the streets, and in the final hours of Hyrule, the few survivors left their lives in the hands of fate. It was then that a great downpour struck the land, and the Hylians heard voices telling them to run for the peaks of the mountains. They did just as they were told, and the downpour became so fierce that it flooded all of Hyrule, sealing it in time. The land, now flooded, became known as the Great Sea, and the legend of Hyrule was passed on for generations. It was then, two hundred years later, before the Goddesses finally returned the Hero of Time. It had taken them so long due to having to find a way to separate Link’s soul into two so that one of the two could go to this time. However, there was no way to be sure that it had been completed to perfection, and so they laid a test, one that would test Link’s courage and wisdom to see if he truly was the new Hero of Time. It was then that Link was born upon the island of Outset, and there he lived until he reached the age of sixteen. Upon his sixteenth birthday, a great bird flew over Outset Island, and a group of pirates attacked it, knocking it out for several moments. However, the attack caused the bird to drop a girl into the forest upon the top of the island, and so Link set out to rescue her. The girl turned out to be the Pirate Queen, Tetra, and, after a short battle with a few Bokugoblins, he rescued the girl. Tetra, however, was none to happy about this. It was then that one of the pirates appeared and took Tetra back to her ship, but along the way, the bird tried to strike once more. However, this time the bird did not capture Tetra. The bird, instead, went for a girl who looked similar to Tetra, but was actually Link’s sister, Aryll. Link tried to save her, but it was to no avail, the bird was too fast, and the cliff he was on was too small. The bird escaped with his sister, and Link immediately ordered the pirates to take him to his sister so that he may rescue her. At first, the pirates were fierce and refused to let him on board, but after Link argued enough, and a postman named Quill aided in the argument, the pirates let him on their ship, and so their adventure began. Link and Tetra sailed to the Forsaken Fortress, where Aryll had been taken after her kidnapping. They then snuck in via cannon, and Link made his way through the Fortress, carefully avoiding the guards. At the end, he found his sister, but the operation was a failure as the bird returned and grabbed Link, then flung him away to the farther reaches of the sea. When Link awoke, he found himself inside of a boat, and as he sat up, the boat began to speak. It explained it was called the King of Red Lions, and that Ganondorf was the one behind the kidnapping. The King of Red Lions explained that Link would need to find the Master Sword if he planned to kill Ganondorf and free his sister, and so Link’s adventure began. Link journeyed to Dragon Roost Island, where he met and aided a girl named Medli. They climbed to the top of the island to meet with Valoo, the Dragon God, and it was there that they discovered an evil monster had laid siege to Valoo’s tail, causing him pain and to lash out at all around him. Link quickly dispatched the monster, and as thanks he was given Din’s Pearl, one of three items he would need to open the door to the Master Sword. At one time, the three pearls of the goddesses had been the Spiritual Stones, but they had been destroyed and their magic forged into three pearls by the Goddesses as part of the test for the Hero of Time. The other test required the Hero of Time to wield an ancient object known as the Wind Waker, which was a conductor’s baton that could be used to compose the wind, and make it do whatever you wished. Link was now given the Wind Waker and taught how to use it. Using its power, he then left Dragon Roost Island and sailed to the Forest Haven, a group of islands that seemed to be made of two great trees. It was there, within the Forest Haven, that Link found a new Great Deku Tree. It was the sprout of the dead Great Deku Tree from three hundred years before, and it had grown into a fine tree. It was here that Link asked for Farore’s Pearl, but the Great Deku Tree would not give it away at first. It was needed for a great festival, and it was on this day that the festival was to occur. The Great Deku promised Link the pearl at the end of the festival, but as they prepared to begin, terrible news struck Forest Haven. Makar, the one who was to start the festival, had gone missing, having fallen deep into the Forbidden Forest. The Great Deku Tree granted Link the ability to fly using a magical leaf in exchange for rescuing Makar, and Link journeyed off to do so. He made his way through the Forbidden Forest, and at the end he found Makar under siege by a large parasite of a plant. Link, however, did not falter in his courage, and with some new skills in hand, he destroyed the beast. Link then returned Makar to the Great Deku Tree, and, once the festival was complete, the Great Deku Tree gave Farore’s Pearl to him. He then headed back to the King of Red Lions, who told him they would need to find Jabun. The two then headed off to Greatfish Isle, where Jabun was supposed to be, but found it shattered, the ground having been broken apart and scattered throughout the sea. Luckily, however, Jabun had escaped, and made his way to Outset Island. There at Outset, he had constructed a barrier which would require the aid of a cannon or a very powerful magic to destroy. He was able to get a cannon from Windfall’s bomb shop, after having to steal the bombs he needed from Tetra and her pirates. He then journeyed off to Outset once more, and once there, he used the cannon to destroy the barrier, then enter in and find Jabun. The King of Red Lions and Jabun then spoke with one another, and Jabun gave up Nayru’s Pearl without hesitation. Link and the King of Red Lions then journeyed off to the three triangles islands, where they placed the three pearls within three statues. Upon completion, the statues revealed their true selves, being the Goddess Statues which opened the door to the Tower of the Gods. Inside, Link would find his final trial, and once defeated, Link would be able to open the doorway to the Master Sword. Now, with the doorway open, the King of Red Lions descended to the depths of the Great Sea, and Link discovered that the doorway led into the ancient Kingdom of Hyrule, which was now trapped under a large bubble of water. They landed in the Castle of Hyrule, and once there, Link found and took the Master Sword from its resting place. However, such a feat disturbed the time of Hyrule, and soon time began to move once more for all those in Hyrule. The King of Red Lions and Link then journeyed back to the Forsaken Fortress, and Link fought his way through the fortress until he reached the end. This time, he was ready for the bird, and in an epic battle he destroyed the bird once and for all. Tetra then appeared and took away all the girls who had been captured by Ganondorf, and Link was left to finish the job he had come to do. He now headed up the tower, where he would meet and battle against Ganondorf himself. However, it was at this time that Link discovered that the Master Sword had no power. It could not harm Ganondorf, because the sages who kept the sword alive had been killed. Ganondorf then beat Link down, but at the last moment, Tetra jumped in and began to fight as well. As she fought, though, a small necklace fell from her shirt, showing a piece of a small, golden triangle. At once, Ganondorf realized that he had found the one he was searching for, but as he went to snatch up the necklace, Tetra swiped it back, then grabbed Link and jumped upon Valoo’s back, who immediately torched the Forsaken Fortress, killing anyone inside. However, Ganondorf managed to escape to his own realm, and there he waited. The King of Red Lions then took Link and Zelda throughout the many islands, explaining about that the necklace Zelda wore was the Triforce of Wisdom, and that Link would need to find the Triforce of Courage. On top of that, he would need to awaken the new sages, and so they went off to Headstone Island, where the Earth Temple existed. It was there that Link was taught a song that, when composed upon a harp, would awaken the Earth Sage’s memories. He then traveled to Dragon Roost Island, and there he met Medli once more and as he composed, Medli played it upon her harp, and as she did, memories flooded into her mind, and at once she knew her purpose. They then returned to the Earth Temple and Link, Medli, and Tetra all fought against the evil ghost Jalhalla and destroyed it. Medli then stayed behind as Link and Tetra sailed to Gale Island; she prayed to the Goddesses, and as she did, the Master Sword began to awaken. At Gale Island, Link was taught a song that, when played upon a cello, would awaken the Wind Sage, and he returned to the Forest Haven and composed the song for Makar, who then awoke as the Wind Sage. They then returned to Gale Island, and within the Wind Temple they fought the evil beast Molgera. Once Molgera was defeated, Makar began to pray to the Goddesses, and the Master Sword awoke fully. They then left, searching for the Triforce of Courage which lied deep at the bottom of the Great Sea in eight small pieces. They fought to find the pieces, and once put together, they returned to the Tower of the Gods. It was then that the King of Red Lions revealed his true self. He was King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule, the last King of Hyrule. He then took a small triangle out and set it within the triangle Tetra had, and at once they formed the Triforce of Wisdom. With this, Tetra was then revealed to be the re-incarnation of the Princess Zelda. However, as it was revealed to them, Ganondorf snatched Zelda away and Link followed after him. Link made his way to Ganon’s Tower, where he fought hard and completed four trials which required him to fight the four monsters he had fought within the four temples. Once each was destroyed, he met with Ganondorf himself. However, it was only a puppet, and the puppet transformed into a monster of a beast that Link had to fight against. After a long battle, Link destroyed the puppet, and Ganondorf once again stole Zelda from him, traveling to the top of the tower. Link followed, and there, atop the tower, Link and Ganondorf did battle, but Link lost. Ganondorf then fused the three Triforce pieces together, but as he reached forward to touch the sacred triangles and make his wish, King Daphnes touched the Triforce, wishing for Hyrule to have hope and peace. The Triforce accepted King Daphnes wish, and the bubble around Hyrule began to break apart, and soon the land began to flood. Ganondorf, now irate at being denied his Triforce once again, attacked Link, who quickly fought back. It was then that Tetra awoke, and with their powers combined, Link and Zelda slew the King of Evil, placing him within stone. King Daphnes then sent Link and Zelda to the surface of the sea and returned Tetra back to her pirate form. They were then picked up by the pirates, who they then told their story to. It was then agreed that they would search for a new home, one that was a single land that they could build a new kingdom upon. And so the pirates journeyed off with Link at their side, and they began their search for a new land.
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted February 25, 2009 Link made his way to Ganon’s Tower, where he fought hard and completed four trials which required him to fight the four monsters he had fought within the four temples. EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted March 9, 2009 Chapter 4 Chapter 4: The Legend of the Four Sword When the pages of history once again re-appear, we find there has become Holodrum and Hyrule. As I stated before, Hyrule was now the same land it was before, and the land that had become New Hyrule soon became Holodrum. History then tells us that, in Hyrule, a new Princess Zelda and a new Link had been born, and both were now of the ages of sixteen and seventeen respectively. History tells us that on this day, Princess Zelda went out to examine the Seal of the Four Sword and to make sure that the seal was still in place, so as to prevent Vaati from rising again. She took Link for protection, and upon reaching the blade, the seal shattered, releasing the demon Vaati from the sword. Vaati then stole away Princess Zelda and Link drew the Four Sword to chase after her. However, something occurred that was not expected. History told that the Link of old who fought against Vaati the first time could split himself into four, but it also said that each was the same and that they all worked together in perfect harmony. Here, however, Link found himself not only split into four, but each was different. One was green, but the others were red, blue, and purple. Each also had its own personality, all being a heightened trait of the original Link. It is said that the green Link retained his original personality, but that the red Link was aggressive and always angry. It is said that the blue Link was rather emotional, always crying at simple things, while the purple Link seemed to be intellectual, and even seemed to know many things Link had forgotten in the past. I believe this occurred because of Vaati. I believe he corrupted the blade to try and break the seal, and while it worked, it left the blade in a corrupted state, one that caused this strange separation. However, that is all simply my own speculation; you may form your own opinions. However, one thing is for certain, history then continues to go on and explain that several fairies then appeared and explained what had occurred to the four Links. They also informed them that they would need four keys to enter Vaati’s tower, and that each key was held in a different land. The four Links then journeyed off, first making their way to what is now known as the Lost Woods, but was then, for unknown reasons, known as the Sea of Trees. It was there that they learned to fight together, and at the end of the road they found themselves fighting against a creature known as the Nightmare Plant. Using their abilities and teamwork, though, they were able to destroy the monster. They then moved on to Talus Cave, where they nearly froze to death. It was within here that they met and defeated a strange blob-like creature, but the records of the creature’s name have been lost to us at this time. They then journeyed to Death Mountain where they met and defeated a creature known as Frypolar, which apparently had the ability to shift between heat and cold. However, this is where some of the adventure was lost in history. Many scholars believe there were indeed only three keys to Vaati’s tower, but I believe there were four, as there were four in Vaati’s second return. However, all history of this fourth key has been lost, and it is unknown if it ever even existed. There are those who believe this tower was a new creation of Vaati’s, and that each time he returned he created a new tower, thus it would be possible the keys were not only different in number, but also different in type. Whatever the case, history tells us that the four Links then journeyed to Vaati’s tower and climbed the tower to its highest depths. It was there, at the top of the tower that Link and Vaati did battle, and history speaks that Vaati was sealed away within the Four Sword once again. It is then said that Link and Zelda returned to Hyrule and returned the blade to its pedestal, and it is then that pages of history are lost once again. I, however, have reason to suspect that there are no missing pages of history at this point. I believe that only a few years passed between recorded adventures. History states that Princess Zelda once again checked the seal of the Four Sword, as had become customary to do once every year. However, a darkness poured forward and snatched away the Princess Zelda. However, this darkness was not Vaati, but a dark form of Link himself. History names this creature “Shadow Link” as he seemed to be Link’s very shadow. Not only did he snatch away Princess Zelda, however, but he also snatched away the descendants of the other six sages. Link then drew the Four Sword once again, even though he knew it would release Vaati from his prison. It was a risk he would have to take to free Zelda and the other maidens. The four Links then are said to have gone on a journey throughout Hyrule to free the seven maidens and Princess Zelda, but along the way they discovered that the true darkness was not Vaati, but Ganondorf himself. My research, as I will tell to you now, states that, without the Triforce of Power, Ganondorf went into hiding for some time. He then discovered that, deep within the Gerudo desert, there lied a pyramid that was told to hold a dark power. Hearing that this dark power may equal a near equivalent to the Triforce of Power, Ganondorf set off to claim it, and there, within the pyramid he found the power he sought. This power was a weapon known as the Trident of Darkness, and with it, Ganondorf could have the power to once again become the King of Darkness as he once was. Now, this is where we find missing history. For several hundred years ago, Ganondorf was a man, but it seemed now, when he came out of hiding, he was the strange pig-demon creature the first Link had fought against. It is, perhaps, a chance that the evil spirit of Mandrag Ganon had overtaken Ganondorf while he was in hiding, thus allowing him to become the creature once more. However, it is equally possible that this may be how he was freed from the stone. If the spirit of Mandrag Ganon had overtaken Ganondorf while in stone, and his form had changed, it is possible the change shattered the stone and freed him from his prison. In either case, the Trident of Darkness now belonged to Ganondorf, and with its power Ganondorf tried to conquer the land, using Vaati as a puppet. It was then that the four Links, using the four keys and the power of the seven maidens, opened the doorway into Vaati’s tower and ascended. There, once again at the top, Link fought and sealed Vaati away once again. Ganondorf, however, was not pleased with this outcome and tried to cause the tower to crash down around them, but the four Links escaped, along with the Princess Zelda and the maidens. So, he revealed himself to them, and it is said that the four Links were nearly destroyed by Ganon’s power. However, history states that in the last moment, the four Links managed to seal Ganon away within the Four Sword itself, but then all history is then lost for another few hundred years. Somehow, between this time and the next appearance of Ganon, Ganon had been pulled out of the Four Sword and resealed away within the Dark World, and the Seal of the Seven Sages was reinforced to keep the Dark Lord sealed away. History also states that Ganon somehow managed to accumulate the full Triforce, which rested now with him within the Dark World. Peace then returned to Hyrule, but the peace did not last, and it was not long before the Dark Lord would once again try to find his free himself once again. Chapter 5: A Link to the Past This is the final legend that history speaks of upon this side of time. Upon this side of time, Ganon began to struggle with the Seal of the Seven Sages, and he managed to push enough of his spirit out to take control of a man named Agahnim, a great sorcerer who was said to be able to cure any disease with his magic. However, the truth could not be farther. In truth, Agahnim cast a curse upon Hyrule that caused a terrible drought, which soon brought about a terrible famine. In the last moments, he then appeared in Hyrule, and before the King, he cast a spell which ended the curse and allowed the crops to grow. This performance won him the King’s trust, and he became the King’s Advisor. Upon claiming his position, he made certain that he would be able to keep it. He killed the King and put on a show to hide the King’s death. He spoke to Hyrule, claiming his words came from the King, though that was impossible. He then put out a search for seven maidens who were descendants of the Seven Sages. He found them all relatively quickly, and one-by-one he began to sacrifice each one whenever the moon was full. With each sacrifice, the Seal of the Seven Sages weakened, and Ganon stirred behind the seal more and more. After six of the maidens had been sacrificed, the newest re-incarnation of Princess Zelda called out for aid using her telepathy. She found herself connecting directly with the newest re-incarnation of Link himself, and she called him to her. Link, being careful as he snuck through the castle unarmed, managed to free the Princess and escape with her out through a secret passage. However, within the passage, he found himself stopped by his uncle, who had tried to go out and free Zelda before Link. His uncle had been badly injured and was on the verge of death. With his last breath, Link’s uncle told him to watch over and protect Zelda. Link swore revenge, and Zelda calmed him. They then escaped through the remainder of the passage and out into the sanctuary nearby. It was here that Zelda explained about the maidens and explained what was needed to stop Agahnim. They would need to find the Master Sword, which now lied within the Lost Woods. With so much history lost, there is no information as to how the Master Sword arrived there, or how the three pendants that were required to claim the sword came into being, we simply know they existed, and the Master Sword was there. With so much history lost, there is no information as to how the Master Sword arrived there, or how the three pendants that were required to claim the sword came into being, we simply know they existed, and the Master Sword lied in the Lost Woods. Zelda then explained that Link would need to claim three pendants. These three pendants were claimable by passing the Trials of Power, Wisdom, and Courage. She then explained that only one man, named Sahasrahla, knew where the trials were, and this led Link to journey to the village of Kakariko. Unfortunately, Agahnim had had the guards post wanted posters for Link, and when he entered, the townsfolk grew afraid of him and ran, or even called the guards to attack him. However, luckily for Link, he ran into a woman who knew where Sahasrahla was, and that he was hidden away in East Palace, where the Trial of Courage lied. Link quickly escaped from Kakariko, then journeyed off to East Palace to meet with Sahasrahla. He did not realize, though, that just to get to him, he would have to pass through the Trial of Courage, which pitted him against Armos Statues, which were terrible statues that came to life when he grew close to them. Luckily, however, Link discovered their one weakness, a small gem in the mouths of the statues that, when shattered, killed the statue, returning it to nothing more then a simple statue. With the Armos Statues defeated, Link then met with Sahasrahla, and obtained the Pendant of Courage. Sahasrahla then explained that Link would have to journey into the desert to pass the Trial of Wisdom, then climb Death Mountain and enter the Tower of the Gods to pass the Trial of Power. Link did just as he was told, defeating the creature Lanmola with his wisdom. He then fought against the Moldorm Lord that lied within the Tower of the Gods and displayed his true power, for only with strength could he stand up against the monster’s ability to deflect any attack sent at him. With the three pendants now in hand, Link journeyed to the Lost Woods and, using the three pendants, he was able to claim the Master Sword. With the sword in hand, he returned to the sanctuary, only to watch as Princess Zelda was snatched away before his very eyes. He chased the monsters to Hyrule Castle, and there Agahnim froze him, then sacrificed Zelda before him. The Seal of the Seven Sages had now been destroyed, but it did not stop Link from fighting Agahnim, and, using the power to reflect evil that the Master Sword had, he returned Agahnim’s evil attacks back in his face, destroying his body. However, with Agahnim’s last breath, he cursed Link and thrust him into the Dark World, where he found Ganon’s army getting ready to move out and attack the Light World. It was then that he discovered that the seven maidens had not been sacrificed, but had been sent into the Dark World. This gave Link another chance, and wielding the Master Sword, he made his way through the Dark World. Within six different parts of the Dark World he fought terrifying monsters, but each he vanquished with courage and power, and with each he vanquished, a single maiden was freed. With six freed, they led the way to Turtle Rock, where Zelda herself lied. It was there, within Turtle Rock, that Link fought against a terrifying beast known as the Trinexx. The beast was much stronger than Link, and for a moment, he even feared that he would be unable to defeat the monster. However, it was at the last moment that a single memory returned to Link’s mind, a memory from a previous life. This memory showed him a power that he could use to defeat the monster, and using this new power, the Trinexx was vanquished. With Zelda now freed, the seven maidens showed Link to Ganon’s Tower. There they used their magic to break the final locks upon the Seal of the Seven Sages, and Link journeyed deep inside. It was there, deep inside Ganon’s Tower, that Link fought with a shadow of Agahnim, and once vanquished, Ganon arose. Quickly he fled to the Pyramid of Darkness in a hope to unleash his army upon the Light World before Link could stop him, but Link pursued the demon to the Pyramid, and there they clashed in an epic battle. However, Link did not hold the power to destroy the King of Evil, and he nearly fell in battle. However, using an ancient magic from times past, the seven maidens infused magic within the Master Sword, awakening its true power and causing the blade to glow a bright gold. The sword, now empowered with the power of the sages, quickly cut through the demon, but this only weakened him. Zelda then gifted Link with a final power, and he drew his bow. As he pulled an arrow back, the arrow changed into a mighty arrow of silver, and with its release, the demon’s fate was sealed. As the silver arrow drove into the demon’s heart, the Triforce itself was thrust out of him, and with a final roar, Ganon was finally destroyed. Link then stepped forward and claimed the Triforce, wishing that all of Ganon’s evil would be undone. So to, the evils of Ganon were then undone, and the Dark World returned to its proper form, a world of gold. The Triforce then fused with Link, and with its power Link returned everyone to the Light World. Zelda then asked Link to marry her, but he declined, saying that his task was not done. With Ganon destroyed, he now went off on a journey to discover his true self, and it is said that he fell upon an island known as Koholint. It is there that Link is said to have found true love, as well as a new sense of his own persona. However, the Master Sword is also said to have been lost upon the island, and it is unknown what occurred after. History tells that Link did return to Hyrule, though who he married, or if he married, or even what he did after returning is unknown. All that is known is the final tale that history records, the Legend of the Oracles. However, that tale is for later, as it tells not only the tale to end this line of time, but also the line of time that began when Link journeyed into the past many hundreds of years before in the Legend of the Ocarina of Time. It is that line of time that my next notes shall be about, and I will end them all with the Legend of the Oracles.
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted March 9, 2009 Chapter 6 Chapter 6: The Legend of the Twilight Princess The pages of History explain that, after the Legend of the Ocarina of Time, Link was sent back in time to live out his child years. It is said that he then warned Zelda of the future, who immediately told her father, who in turned immediately had Ganondorf seized and tried for treason. It is said that Ganondorf was tried, convicted, and ultimately sentenced to death by execution of the six sages. However, the pages of History also tell us that something went terribly wrong. It seems that, when Link was returned to his own time, a paradox was created, and the Triforce of Courage traveled with him in part. Due to this, the Triforce of that line was forced to split, and the Triforce of Power was sent to Ganondorf without the knowledge of either him or anyone else. As Link then headed off on a journey to find an old friend of his, the six sages executed Ganondorf using their ceremonial blade, but because of the Triforce of Power, Ganondorf was too strong to be stopped even by a sword in the chest. He broke free of his chains and began to murder the sages, so with little hope, the sages opened the Mirror of Twilight which had been used to seal away another race hundreds of years before. Ganondorf was then thrust into the mirror, and his mind and body separated for a single instance as he was forced into the Twilight Realm. The sages hoped that would put an end to Ganondorf, but because of the Triforce of Power, Ganondorf was left protected within the Twilight Realm, able to think for himself, and even able to conceive a terrible plan that would threaten the Light World. Link, having no knowledge of what had occurred, continued on on his journey to find his friend. Now, you see, Princess Zelda had given Link the Ocarina of Time, not only to protect it, but she also felt that he would need it more then her. It is said that Link then stumbled upon some kind of time paradox that found him in a land known as Termina. My research actually suggests that Termina was simply another part of Hyrule. For that matter, some of my research suggests it may also be the land now known as Labrynna, though that is all pure speculation. In either case, the pages of History tend to suggest that Link found himself in a three-day time paradox, where he continued to live the same three days over and over again until he could find a way to break free of it. It was with the help of the Ocarina of Time that Link broke free of the time paradox and continued on with life. It is said that, to fully break the paradox, Link had to use the Ocarina of Time to call upon four giants who stopped the moon from crashing upon the world. From there, an evil mask known as the Mask of Majora then fought Link in battle. It is said that Link nearly lost the battle, and that, had it not been for his fairy companion named Tatl, he would have died. However, it is unknown if this would have killed him, or simply caused the time paradox to repeat once again. Upon escaping from the time paradox, Link continued on his adventures, though he never did find the friend he sought after. The pages of History then suggest that Link settled down and formed another land, one that became known as Ordon. It was here in Ordon Village that Link’s descendants continued with life, but not all was peaceful. Ganondorf now threatened to break free from the Twilight Realm, having given his power to a power-hungry man named Zant, who desired the throne of the Twilight Realm. Zant, after conquering the Twilight Realm, then broke free and entered into the Light World, where he began to conquer the Light World, slaying the Light Spirits as he did and turning the world into twilight. It was then that the next re-incarnation of Link appeared. He had been born in Ordon Village, and upon reaching the age of seventeen, he was assigned a task to deliver a package to Hyrule. However, due to the twilight, Ordon became overrun with monsters, and Link found himself turned into a wolf. Link then managed to meet with the Princess Zelda, who told him that only the Light Spirits could return him to his true form. He then sought after each and restored their light, reviving them. Now revived, the Light Spirits led Link to the shattered remains of an ancient, dark power known as the Fused Shadows. It was the dark power created by the ancestors of those who lived within the Twilight Realm, who now called themselves the Twili. It was also within the twilight that Link met Midna, who was one of the Twili. At first, she seemed to be an annoying hag who simply wanted Link’s help to obtain the Fused Shadows, but when the Fused Shadows were brought together, Zant appeared and attacked Midna and Link. Midna was then forced out of shadow and into the Realm of Light, where she would have died had it not been for the great sacrifice the Princess Zelda made. Zant’s attack returned Link to his wolf form, and with Midna dying before him, he snatched her away and returned to Hyrule Castle, where Princess Zelda informed Link of the Master Sword, which lied deep within the Lost Woods. She then sacrificed herself to give Midna life and allow her to live within the Realm of Light. Link then journeyed off to the Lost Woods, where he found the Master Sword lying deep within. When he touched it, the dark magic Zant had cast upon him was forced out of his body, and he was changed back into his human form. Taking the Master Sword in hand, Link then left the Lost Woods, where Midna told Link of the Mirror of Twilight which would aid them in their battle against Zant and that he had to go to the Gerudo Mesa to get to it. Link thus set off for the Gerudo Mesa, where he traveled to the Spirit Temple within. It was there that he fought against the monster known as the Stallord, which was an evil dragon that Zant revived. Destroying it, Midna and Link ascended to the top, where they found the Twilight Mirror, but much to their despair, the Mirror had been broken into four pieces. It was then that the remaining sages appeared and told Link of Ganondorf and what had happened. They told Link that Zant had shattered the mirror, but not being the true King of the Twili, he did not have the ability to truly destroy the mirror, only break it apart. It was, with the help of a friend within Hyrule Castle Town, that Link learned of the locations of the other fragments and set off on a quest to find them. After obtaining one from the Snowpoint Mansion, one from the past, and the last from a city in the sky, Link restored the Twilight Mirror and traveled into the Twilight Realm. It was there that he did battle with the evil Zant, but killing him was to no avail, as Ganondorf’s plan had already been completed, and Ganondorf himself now waited Link within Hyrule Castle. Readying himself, Link then journeyed to Hyrule Castle, where he climbed to the highest tower. Within, he met with Ganondorf, the King of Evil, but Ganondorf quickly possessed Princess Zelda’s body, turning it against Link to try and destroy him. Luckily, Link managed to use the Master Sword’s power to repel evil, and with it, he forced the Evil King out of Zelda’s body. Furious, Ganondorf once again allowed the spirit of Mandrag Ganon to overcome him. With the power of Mandrag Ganon, the Triforce of Power, and the power of the Twili, Ganondorf turned into a horrendous boar who tried to crush Link. Luckily, however, Link used his power to change into a wolf, and with it he defeated the Evil King. Peace would then return to Hyrule, had it not been for the fact that Ganondorf once again returned only moments after his last defeat. However, using the power of Light Arrows, Link and Zelda defeated Ganondorf, driving Link’s sword into Ganondorf’s chest. This left Ganondorf paralyzed, but still alive, unable to move until the sword was drawn from his chest. The pages of History, however, do not tell us what happened to Midna, and there is a rather large gap in the pages. What we do know is that at some point, Ganondorf returned once more and Link killed him for good, claiming the Triforce. It was then passed down through royalty until one king worried that, if the Triforce fell into the wrong hands, that it would destroy Hyrule, so he sealed away one of the pieces within the Great Palace. Many years later, the prince of Hyrule commanded his sister, Zelda, to tell him the location of the missing Triforce, but when Zelda refused, she was cast into a deep sleep, one that could only be broken by bringing together the full Triforce. Grieved by this, the Prince sealed Princess Zelda away within a secret chamber in the castle. There, along with six gems, the Princess would lie until a boy would appear with the mark of the sacred triangles upon his left hand. The Prince then gave a decree that all women born into the royal family were to be named Zelda until the real Princess was once again awoken. I apologize to those who were anticipating this chapter (I saw someone say "I can't wait for Majora's Mask". Due to the fact I'm only half summarizing the really short/annoying/unimportant games in the series, Majora's Mask only got a passing mention...You'll have to wait until I work on the novelization to find out the epic stuff that occurs :P
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted March 9, 2009 Chapter 7 Chapter 7: The Adventure of Link More pages of history are lost at this time, but what is known is that at some point Ganon was revived, presumably by his followers, the twin witches Twinrova. He then stole away the Triforce of Power from the current Zelda, killing her in the act. However, that Zelda had only the Triforce of Power, as the Triforce of Wisdom had been passed down to her daughter. When Ganon attacked once more, Zelda used the Triforce of Wisdom to push Ganon back and thrust him back into the underworld. However, this did not stop Ganon, and he sent his minions to lay siege to North Castle. In time, Ganon’s minions managed to capture Zelda, and in a last act of desperation, Zelda broke the Triforce into eight pieces, scattering them across the land of Hyrule. Soon, a boy came from another land known as Calatia. He was the new re-incarnation of Link, and on his way to Hyrule to meet with Princess Zelda, he met with a woman under siege from a group of monsters. He destroyed the monsters and saved the woman, who revealed herself to be Impa, Princess Zelda’s nurse. She then explained that Zelda had been captured by Ganon and that the Triforce of Wisdom had been split into eight pieces. Link then journeyed out and searched the land for the eight Triforce of Wisdom pieces. One he found with a graveyard, two within Lake Hylia, a fourth he found in Death Mountain, another two he found in the Lost Woods, and the last he found at the edges of another forest. With the eight Triforce of Wisdom pieces collected, Impa then gave unto him a magical sword that gained its power from the Triforce of Wisdom, thus giving Link the power he needed to fight Ganon. Link then journeyed off into Spectacle Rock and there, in the underworld, Link fought against the evil Ganon. At first, it seemed that Ganon would win, as the beast continued to teleport around, making it impossible for Link to be able to hit him. However, a moment later, the magical sword that Link wielded powered itself up from the Triforce of Wisdom, and from the sword shot a bolt of energy that struck Ganon, freezing him in place. It was then that the Triforce of Wisdom bestowed unto Link the mighty Silver Arrow, and with a single shot, the arrow drove itself into Ganon’s heart, pushing the Triforce of Power out of Ganon, and destroying his body. Link then took up the Triforce of Power and, using its power, freed the Princess Zelda from her prison. Peace then came over all of Hyrule, but that was not the end, for on Link’s sixteenth birthday, the symbol of the Triforce appeared upon his hand. He met with Impa and asked Impa what it meant, and she explained the tale of the sleeping Zelda, then opened the secret chamber and took the six gems from inside, handing them to Link. Impa then told Link that he would have to journey off to six palaces throughout Hyrule and place the gems within six statutes. When combined together, the six statues would open the magical barrier that closed the Great Palace, where the Triforce of Courage lied. Link then headed off, first journeying into the Parapa Desert, where he faced against the mighty Horsehead, Guardian of the First Statue. Link then journeyed off from there and into the Midoro Swamp Palace where he met and fought against Helmethead, the Guardian of the Second Statue. With two statues now active, Link found himself returning to Spectacle Rock, there he found the Magic Hammer which would allow him to break apart large boulders that blocked the path between Eastern and Central Hyrule. There, in Central Hyrule Link journeyed to the Island Palace where he fought against a soldier who called himself Iron Knuckle, Guardian of the Third Statue. With Iron Knuckle’s defeat, Link then journeyed off to Western Hyrule, which was overrun by the Order of Underworld Monsters, which was a group of Ganon’s underlings who were bent on finding and sacrificing Link, spilling his blood upon Ganon’s ashes so as to revive him. Fighting through the forces of the Order of Underworld Monsters, Link made his way into Maze Island, where he entered the Labyrinth Palace and fought against the Wizrobe Lord, Carock, who had killed the Guardian of the Fourth Statue. However, even Carock stood no chance against Link and soon he too fell, and Link placed the fourth gem within the fourth statue. Link then journeyed off to the Palace on the Water, where he faced off against Gooma, Guardian of the Fifth Statue. From there, Link then journeyed off once again, this time heading off to a palace that lied in the center of the Three-Eye Rock formation. It was there, within the Three-Eye Palace that Link fought against Barba, Guardian of the Last Statue, and with its defeat, the barrier around the Great Palace fell, and Link was allowed entry. It was there that Link found his hardest battle yet. The Order of Underworld Monsters had poured their strongest into the Great Palace as soon as it opened, and Link fought against monster after monster to clear his way through. Finally, at the end of the Palace, he found himself up against the last guardian, the Thunderbird. The two fought, and Link managed to take the bird down. With its defeat, Link then walked forward to claim the Triforce of Courage, but the Great Palace had one last test. Link felt something pull at him, and from his shadow was formed a dark form of his being. This creature, dubbed Shadow Link by Link himself, was the final test. With all of Link’s skills, and all of Link’s powers, the battle against Shadow Link was quite literally of Link fighting himself. With the two perfectly matched, they fought for what seemed like hours, and it very well could have been. There is no record of how Link won the battle, or if he even did. We do know that Link emerged with the Triforce of Courage, but even Link himself could not say how he won. History then tells us that Link returned to North Castle, having not only claimed the Triforce of Courage, but also having vanquished the Order of Underworld Monsters. Using the full Triforce, Link awoke Princess Zelda from her slumber, and history records that the two married and from there peace returned to all of Hyrule. However, that was not the last story. The final pages of History are lost, all up until the final adventure recorded in Hylian history. The story would combine both the lines of time together and end the Cycle of Eternity once and for all. And this marks the second to last chapter to the Great Legend of Zelda. The next chapter is the Oracle Series and will end the story. I hope you enjoy what I've posted, and I can't wait to present the novelizations/webcomizations/whatever-I-do-with-them to all of you as well =D
