Hi there, david sent me, lol

 

well, it didn't take long after I joined rpgm but it pretty much became my second home forum, so now that he's pointed this direction, I figured I might see if I can't maintain having two home forums.

 

I guessed I had a account here already but thats only because a year ago I went on a spree and signed up for like, 20 places XD

 

anyways, I've been working with RMXP for over 2 years now, and very soon 3, currently 16 years of age.

 

I consider myself to be very experienced with it, despite seeing many people who say they have like.. 8 years of experience or something, which I see often, I guess I'm good for my time?

 

oh well, that aside, I'm a mediocre spriter, and a highly experienced event scripter, I've made several pseudo animated picture intros for RMXP, a fully... operational shopping system, and several other small menus and tutorials.

 

It gets overshadowed by my mediocre spriting :\

 

it kinda bothers me alot at times, becuase I really think my eventing's a more valuable skill... x.x that, and I'm super lazy when it comes to spriting, everything after the first frame is just BORING

 

ok, enough about that, some personal info about me, I'm chinese, born and raised in china, I moved to america about 5 years ago, I've actually moved back and forth between china and america quite a few times already before this, went around the world 2.5 times in a air plane XD

 

but yeah, english is my second language, but I think I'm very good with it now :\

 

I do say 'lol' quite often as well as use smilies, but prolly cuz I'm asian >_>

 

well, hope this place'll be fun, I'll post my project and my sprite thread up in a bit.

I know a small bit of C++ and visual basic, but it's not really ruby/rgss related x.x

 

I'm really handy with events... like, 2k3 skill level, so it's a bit late already, as I can do most of what I want with events XD

Look at some of Leon's tutorials or ask him to help you out. I don think he will mind.

lol, I think I'll be able to be pretty active here in a while.

 

But yeah, David was pretty awesome, it was a shame x.x All the admins I've met so far are pretty awesome XD (Phantom from my home forum being the first :P)

 

anyways, thansk for the link, I'll have to check it out x.x I've been so lazy with school these days.... well, lazy over all, so I haven't done much improvement in any field :< (that aside, it's prolly all because of a single girl, but thats rl issues >_>)

Welcome to the site. I see you are an eventer/spriter. A nice combination. I also see you wish to be a scriptor, and that pol has mentioned me as the resident script teacher/guru. Well, if there is anything you want to know; ask. I float around here alot, so I'm usually checkin messages alot.

 

In addition to scripting, I can create Icons, and map a fair amount. If you need anything in the ways of learning, I'll assist.

Well, since you suck at mapping, you should try to get better. Knowing how to do it all would be really cool.

 

I wonder if there is someone that can do everything in XP, Sprite, Map, Event, Script, Windowskin, Background, tileset sprite, plot, RPG element design, the whole bit. Most people pick a few things and stick with them.

 

Me, I'm going to master mapping and then bug the hell outta' Arkbennett til' he tutors me ;).

I can take video game music and edit it to make it loop for RMXP though. :P

seth is actually pretty good in taht area too! Actually, 100 times better tahn me, but I know zip, so yeah, I guess he's audio/mapping and me spriting/eventing XD

 

and nah, I won't be tackling how to map, Sithlord999 is more or less a expert on it already

Do you mean the lighting cosmetics? There isn't much to that. It only takes like 25 minutes to learn.

 

And for the record, I can make better maps than the ones I see here. (especially the mountain one).

And do you want me to give you a better water auto-tile? The one I have is MUCH better.

 

 

...Maybe I should make some mapping tutorials.

I've known Seth for like almost 2 years, so we've just worked with each other enough :P

 

It also depends, maps by like Mack and Shadow are different, it's a taste thing I think, but I can't get into their styles x.x so yeah, I like how they are.

 

Other than the first screen of seth's examples though, they're all like... at least 8 months old now, lol, from the old version of our games :P

 

If the water autotile is the one that looks naturally shapped, like randomly, I have that already, I don't actually have any nature maps in my game now is all XD

Yeah it is that one. I also have one like that, except it is the dirt path one. I love it. It is my favorite auto-tile! And I'm sure he can do better now. And Mack and Shadows' maps are GODLY!

nah, I've looked into Reive's open project of the Mirror Lied, and the tutorial calibre made, I tried it once already, I'm just thinking about using it in the future, but it's not big on my priorities.

Well I might make one for other people. Mirror Lied? That sounds awesome. I'm going to go play that. Does it have cosmetic lighting or something? And like I said. It should be on your priorities because it is really easy to do. That way you can get it out of your face.
