[XP/Solved]Talking to an event to edit what script says

Ok so i'm a beginner in ruby script and i'm making a kind of list thing in the main menu, ive managed to make it all apart from one thing, if I do something ingame it edits what it says in the menu, ive looked at lots of tutorials but can't find anything about it. I'll give an example: say a quest list it says talk to man to start quest. Then when you check your quest list again it says something different.

well, you can either change the variable that holds the text, or make an array that will show a line of text based on the part of the array called.

At the moment it just displays the words heres the code for it:

 

 

 

self.contents.draw_text(0, 64, self.width - 32, 32, "Not achieved")

instead of a string, try a variable. with a variable set as a string, you can change teh text.

Sorry i'm new to this, may I ask how a variable of that is set out?

may i suggest reading the posted tutorials for scripting? They'll give you enough info without telling you exactly what to do.
