Chapter 1: A Girl Named Link

“Get her out of here!” a man shouted as he stood his ground before the enemy before him. The man was a guard of the Kingdom of Hyrule. In this world, which was also known as Hyrule, a great war had erupted. The war was between the rock-loving creatures known as the Goron, and the fish-like creatures known as the Zora. The Hylians, the dominant race of the world, had been thrust into the middle of the war, and were now being attacked on all sides.

“I can’t leave you!” a woman spoke as she stood behind the man. In her arms was a small infant, no older then six months, perhaps even younger.

The man quickly rose the spear in his hands and blocked the swing of a sword. “The battle is lost, my love! Quickly, take our child and run!”

The enemy that stood before the man now stepped forward, and out of shadow. It was now revealed that their enemy was a woman, her skin dark in color, as if tanned by living life in the sun. Her outfit consisted of a red tube top and a pair of baggy, red pants that seemed almost like those that a desert dweller would wear. “You aren’t going anywhere with that child!” the woman shouted.

“Run!” the man shouted and gave a kick to the woman’s stomach. The woman with the child then turned and began to run.

“No!” the desert woman shouted and with a quick swing, the guard before her was decapitated. “After that woman! Do not let her escape!”

“As you command, Mistress!” two other women, each dressed the same way, and looking very similar in skin tone, spoke as they rushed forward.

“I have to get you safe, little one,” the woman with the baby spoke as she looked down at it. It was a beautiful baby girl, blonde hair could barely be seen on her head.

“Don’t let her escape!” one of the desert women shouted, and the woman with the baby quickly turned, holding her free hand forward. “What is she doing?”

“Din’s Fire!” the woman shouted, and a large ball of flames shot forward, striking the ground in front of the desert women. “Farore’s Wind, take me to the stables!” She then threw her hand down, and in an instant, she was gone.

“Did you hear her?” one of the desert women asked.

“Yes, the stables,” the woman next to her spoke.

“Let’s hurry.” The two desert women rushed forward, swords drawn and ready for battle. When they arrived, they noticed one of the horses had been taken, and the woman with the child had taken off on it. One of the desert women growled and grabbed the stable master next to her. “Where did the woman go?”

“I don’t know!” the stable master spoke. “She said she needed a horse, and quickly. I gave her one, and then she took off!”

“Sister,” the other desert woman spoke. “Do not worry, we should be able to follow her tracks.”

“Very clever, dear sister,” the first desert woman spoke, smirking. They then turned to the stable master. “You’re usefulness has ended.” She quickly stabbed the guy in the chest, then sheathed her sword. “Let’s go.” Quickly, they jumped upon horseback and took off, their eyes watching the tracks of the horse that had just left before them.

It took them but a few minutes to catch up with the horse, and the desert women smirked as the horse came into sight. “Let’s kill her,” one of them spoke.

“Agreed,” the other spoke and they sped their horses up, moving closer.

“Faster!” the woman with the baby shouted as she snapped the reigns of the horse she was on. “They’re getting too close!”

“We have you now, woman!” the first desert woman shouted.

“Din’s Fire!” the woman shouted and aimed her hand at the desert woman next to her. At such a close range, the attack struck dead on, knocking the woman from the horse, and leaving her badly burned.

“You won’t get away from me!” the remaining desert woman shouted and quickly swung her sword. The woman with the child had no time to react, and she screamed as the sword cut across her side, leaving a rather large gash.

“Din’s Fire!” the woman shouted, once again launching off her fire spell, but this time, she aimed at the horse. This caused the horse to neigh loudly and stumble forward. The desert woman was sent forward a little ways, falling off her horse and to the ground. She growled as she stood to her knees, only to find hooves soon trampling her.

The woman with the child looked back for only a moment to make sure her pursuers were dead. She then turned back, heading off into the distant forest as she gripped her side. “I have to…stay alive…at least…until I get there…” she spoke. The horse stopped at the edge of the forest, and the woman quickly hopped down. “Little one…you’ll be safe…soon…” she spoke and hobbled forward into the forest.

* * *

“Do you hear something?” a boy asked as he turned. He looked to be no older then ten, and he wore a green tunic that covered his body. He also wore a green hat, as well as a white undershirt under his tunic. He had orange hair, and a mean look to his face.

“No,” a girl spoke as she looked up. She also appeared no older then ten, though her fairly good sized chest would say otherwise. She had grass-green hair which had a grass-green headband within it, as well as emerald-green eyes. Her tunic was the same color as the boy’s, but extended out a little longer to form a skirt that ended at her knees.

“Help!” a female voice shouted, and the two quickly jumped to their feet. They rushed forward, stopping to find a woman stumbling into their village. She had a small baby in her arms, and a bleeding wound at her side. “My goddesses…they’re real…”

“Are you okay?” the girl asked as she quickly rushed to the woman’s side.

“You…promise me…to take care of her…” the woman spoke as she held the baby out for the girl to take.

“Woman,” a deep voice suddenly spoke. “Thou hast entered this land of the Kokiri. None shall enter this land but the Kokiri themselves. Any others who enter shall be cursed and turned into a tree.”

“Please,” the woman spoke out to the voice. “I beg of you! I am bringing this child here to live! Please, take her, and keep her safe. I will give anything to make certain she is safe!”

“Verily, you have brought unto me the savior of the world. Thou I cannot save from the curse, but I shall spare the child.”

“That’s all I needed to know.” The woman’s eyes closed and she smiled. “Then I can die peacefully.” With those words, she fell forward, her body collapsing to the ground. A single moment later, her body seemed to glow and soon a tree grew up from where her body had been only moments before.

“Saria, bring the child unto me,” the voice spoke. The girl nodded and turned, walking forward. She crossed the village, passing by several other children who all seemed about the same age. All the boys wore a green tunic and hat, while all the girls wore a green dress with a green headband. She took a small path that led out from the village, and into a large clearing where a massive tree lied.

“Great Deku Tree, I have done as you command,” Saria spoke.

“Place the child before me,” the voice spoke, now seeming to come from the tree.

“As you command.” Saria walked forward and set the child before the tree, then looked up, stepping back a little.

“Verily, from this day forth, thou shalt be named Link,” the tree spoke to the child. “Thou art the savior of this world. Saria,” the tree now turned its attention to the girl before him. “Unto you and only you I shall give a vision of this child’s future. Tell no one, not even the child.” Saria nodded and closed her eyes.

A vision passed before her eyes of the child aging throughout the next many years. She then saw the child lift a sword and do battle with a tall man. She could not make out the man’s features, just that the man appeared as pure evil. Saria then opened her eyes and looked up at the tree. “What do you wish me to do about this?”

“Raise this child, Saria,” the tree spoke. “Raise this child as thou has with the other Kokiri. When the time comes, however, this child must leave our forest to fulfill her destiny.”

“Of course,” Saria then gave a bow and picked the child back up, smiling. “Well, Link, welcome to your new home. I’m Saria, and we’ll be seeing a lot of each other.” From there, Link grew and aged over the next eleven years. As she aged, however, none of the other Kokiri did.

She also wore the normal green dress that all of the Kokiri girls wore. She had developed amazingly beautiful, ocean-blue eyes, as well as having managed to grow her chest to about the same size as Saria had.

Link and Saria had developed a very close relationship. One would say they had fallen in love, while others would say they were simply just very close friends. Whichever the case, they did not care, only that they were always together and there for each other. When Link had gotten old enough to live on her own, she had built a house out of the tree that the woman who had carried her there had been turned into. She said she always felt drawn to it, and that there was something about it that made her feel at home.

Time had passed, and the Great Deku Tree began to notice it was growing closer and closer for Link to leave the forest. So, he began to plant visions of the future within Link’s mind while she slept, and this night, she had had a vision that was the worst nightmare she had ever had.

* * *

Link found herself standing before a large wall. Before her was a large moat that surrounded the wall, and a drawbridge was currently raised. Dark clouds quickly seemed to rush in, and a storm began to pour down upon her. “Ugh! I’m soaked now!” she shouted, sighing. “Why is the drawbridge shut in midday?” she asked.

Suddenly, the drawbridge began to quickly lower, and Link smiled at the sight. Just as she went to walk forward to cross, she heard the quick movement of horse hooves. She reached behind her back, only to find she had no weapons. She cursed under her breathe, a memory of losing her sword within a massive fish quickly entering her mind.

“Link!” a female voice shouted, and Link’s eyes went wide as a girl about her age rode past on a horse. She was accompanied by a much older looking woman as well, which held her tight upon the horse. She then heard the sound of hooves slowing to a stop behind her, and she turned back to the gate to find herself meeting face-to-face with a black horse.

Link looked up, seeing a black rider atop the horse, his form unclear in the darkness. The man laughed and rose his hand and energy formed within it. A moment later, it blasted forward, and Link screamed as she awoke, breathing heavily as she looked around. She was back in her house now. “It was only a dream…” she spoke, putting her hand upon her chest and giving a sigh of relief.

“Link!” Saria spoke in a happy, sing-song voice as she stepped into the house. “You’re finally awake.”

“Huh?” Link looked up and smiled. “Hey, Saria,” she spoke.

“What’s wrong? You look like you just saw a ghost.”

Link wiped the cold sweat from her forehead and she shook her head roughly to wake herself up. “I don’t know what I saw…I was standing there…in this large open place…and there was this strange building in front of me…a…castle…”

“‘Castle’?” Saria asked.

“Yeah…I don’t even know what a castle is…but it was definitely that…”

“How do you know when you’ve never seen a castle before?”

“Well…I just…don’t know of anything else it could be called is all…so I would guess it’s a castle…”

“Well, that logic does make sense.” Saria nodded. “What else?”

“A man…on a dark horse…he shot me…and I felt like I got pushed out of my body…I screamed…and I woke up…”

Saria bit her lip. “That’s terrible…”

Link nodded. “Yeah, I know…”

Suddenly, there was a loud shriek from outside, and Link quickly jumped to her feet and rushed out of her house to look out. It was there she saw Fado, one of the other female Kokiri of the village. She wasn’t much different then Link, having her hair in a slightly different style, but also having it just as long, as Link’s. Her hair color and outfit color was all the same, though. “Fado, what’s wrong?” Link called out.

“I don’t know…” Fado spoke as she shivered, her eyes closed and her hands pulled against her chest. “I just…felt a really chilly wind pass by just now…”

“Why did you shriek over that?”

“It lifted my dress!”

Link blinked a little, then rubbed the back of her neck. “Well, I guess I can understand that one a little.”

“A chilly wind?” Saria asked. “That’s very rare in these woods…especially one like that…”

“I’m sure it’s fine, Saria,” Link spoke, smiling and grabbing Saria’s hands. “Oh! I got to show you something!”

“What is it?” Saria asked, blinking a little.

“Come here and check it out!” Link pulled Saria back into her house and opened a small storage chest. Inside was clothes upon clothes, but upon the clothes lied a small object. It looked like a capital Y, but also had a red band that seemed to go between the two points of the shape. “Look at it!” she held it up and smiled.

“What is it?”

“A slingshot!”

“A slingshot? What’s it do?”

“Well, you stick a deku seed in it, then you shoot it off.”

“Amazing, but what would you need it for?”

“Well, for one thing, I’d love to pop a seed right here,” Link put a finger in between her eyes, “on Mido’s face for all the trouble he causes me. But, for non-violent reasons, it’s just to get fruit from trees so I don’t have to climb anymore.”

“Oh yeah, it must be tough being the only Kokiri without a fairy.” It was true. Every Kokiri in the entire forest, all thirty or so of them, had their own guardian fairy, but one, Link, did not have one. She had never had a fairy in her life, and she had watched as other Kokiri obtained their fairies. She was actually the twenty-fifth Kokiri born, and thus should have been the twenty-fifth to get her fairy, yet those born after her had their fairies, while she still did not.

“Yeah…” Link looked down and sighed. “I wonder why I’m the only one without a fairy…”

“I wish I knew, Link…” Saria spoke and sighed. “Have you asked the Great Deku Tree?”

“Yeah…he just says ‘It is not thy time for a fairy yet, Link,’ then he sends me away,” Link spoke and sighed.

“Well, why don’t we go talk to him right now, huh? Maybe it’s time, and you just need to ask?”

“I doubt it, but we can check.”

Saria took Link’s hand and the two of them left from Link’s house and made their way through the village until the reached the path to the Great Deku Tree. “Hey! Little Miss No Fairy!” a voice shouted and Link looked up, only to watch one of the boy Kokiri drop down in front of her. It was Mido, the Kokiri with orange hair, and self-proclaimed “Boss of the Kokiri”. He even claimed that the white undershirt he wore proved he was the boss, and he was the only one who wore one.

“What do you want, Mido?” Link groaned as she asked.

“What do you want with the Great Deku Tree, huh? A half a person like you doesn’t deserve to see the Great Deku Tree.”

“Half a person?” Link asked, growling.

“Yeah. Without a fairy, you’re only half a person!”

“Mido, that’s quite enough, leave Link alone,” Saria spoke.

Link rose her hand in front of Saria. “So, you think I’m no good without a fairy?”

“That’s right! You’re nothing without a fairy!”

Link growled a bit more. She quickly gripped her slingshot. “Let’s see if you think that, after you get a shot from my slingshot!” She whipped it out and quickly pulled a deku seed into it, aiming it only inches from Mido’s face. She let go, and the seed smacked Mido right between the eyes.

Mido grabbed his face and growled loudly. “You’ll pay for that, you bitch!” he shouted and jumped on Link, pushing her to the ground.

“Get off me!” Link quickly gave a kick between Mido’s legs, and he quickly reacted by rolling off and grabbing himself. She then stood to her feet and padded herself off.

“You’ll pay for that!” Mido spoke as he tried to stand, but the pain was too much. Link gave a groan and turned away. Seeing his change, Mido quickly shot his hand up, gripping Link’s hair and pulling on it hard. She screamed as she fell back from the pull.

“That’s enough! Stop fighting!” Saria shouted.

Link continued to scream as Mido continued to pull on her hair. “Feel that? Half people like you deserve this kind of pain.” He then grabbed Link’s arm and twisted it behind her back as he continued to pull her hair. Tears now rolled down Link’s cheeks as she fought to keep from crying. “That’s it, cry!”

“Mido!” Saria shouted and gave him a quick kick to the back of the head. This was followed up by a quick punch to the nose, which knocked him onto his back. “I said, stop fighting.” She then turned and wrapped her arms around Link. “Are you okay?”

Link sniffled a little as she continued to fight the tears. She wrapped her arms around Saria and laid her head on her shoulder. “Thank you,” she spoke.

“No problem. Sisters have to watch out for each other, right?” Saria smiled. Link sniffled and nodded, and Saria wiped the tears from Link’s cheeks. “Come on, let’s go see the Deku Tree now.” Link nodded in agreement, and the two walked forward, entering the large clearing that held only the Great Deku Tree. “Great Deku Tree, it’s me and Link!”

“Ah, my children, what hast brought thee here?” the Deku Tree asked.

“Well, Great Deku Tree, sir…” Link spoke. “Why don’t I have a fairy, yet?”

“It is not quite thy time to have thy own fairy, Link,” the Deku Tree spoke.

“When will it be, though? Everyone else has gotten their fairies, even the ones that were born after me. When will be my time?”

“Thy time will be coming soon, Link, of that I promise thee. For verily, if my dreams these last moons are the visions I believe them to be, then it shall by thine own time to have a fairy very soon.”

“Dreams?” Link asked. “That reminds me! I was having a nightmare last night! Can you tell me what it was about?”

“Speak thy dream, and I shalt interpret it,” the Deku Tree spoke. Link nodded and explained everything in the dream. “It is a vision of thy future, Link. The exact occurrences of the dream themselves main not come true as you foresaw them, but something similar to those dreams will occur.”

“Then…one day…I’ll be going to this…castle…?”

“Yes, verily I say unto you, thou shalt be making the journey to the castle beyond the forest’s edge, in the lands of Hyrule that exist far from here.”

“And I’ll be doing it soon?”

“Of that, I am most assured.”

Link looked down and sighed. “So…will I…” she paused for a moment. “…Die…?”

“That is not for me to say. One day, thou shalt discover what lies ahead of you, and then, and only then, will you know your true destiny.”

“My true destiny, huh?” Link asked and looked down. “A fairy will be coming to me soon…and then I’ll discover my destiny? Is that what you mean?”

“That is the truth, Link,” the Great Deku Tree spoke.

Link sighed and nodded. “Very well, then.” She turned back to Saria and smiled. “So, what do you want to do?”

“Well, you could show me a few tricks with that slingshot of yours,” Saria spoke, smiling. “Then, maybe…I could try it a little?”

“Sure!” Link smiled and the two walked off. The day progressed throughout slowly, and Link and Saria enjoyed their time together as they talked, played, and even picked on Mido together. All this occurred until the night arrived. Link and Saria then went their separate ways to their own homes. However, neither knew that something was about to threaten their peaceful sleep, and threaten to destroy all that the Kokiri held dear.

A few notes about this story...

  1. If you don't like Link being female, don't read it.
  2. If you are against homosexuality, don't read. I have yet to have any homo scenes yet, but there might be.
  3. The Link used for this novel is based upon this drawing by KelilaQ http://kelilaq.deviantart.com/art/Female-L...-Time1-74584322
  4. This story basically is the turning point...I have had my fill of writing stories with male Links, and thus, all my current LoZ Novel ideas feature a girl Link, thus, it is likely that I will be writing no more LoZ novels that have Link as a male.
  5. If anyone who can draw wants to, I'd like to try this in webcomic format as well if possible. I'd do it myself, but I can't draw well enough for that yet.

And that's about it ^^ Oh, and no flaming that Link is a guy >> I get that a lot...

Chapter 2: The Kokiri Emerald

“Go, my pet,” a figure spoke as he stood by the edge of the Kokiri Forest. “Go, find the stone and bring it back to me.” He held out his hand and opened it, as if throwing something forward. Dark light seemed to then shoot up from the ground, and a roar was heard. Once the light vanished, something crawled forward, something rather large and dangerous.

* * *

“Navi!” the Great Deku Tree shouted. Suddenly, as if from nowhere, a bright blue light shot down and flew in front of the tree. “Navi, is that thee?”

“It’s me,” the light spoke in a female voice.

“Navi the fairy, I require of thee a task.”

“I will do whatever you ask, Great Deku Tree.”

“Navi, go and find the one without a fairy. She is there, somewhere in this forest. I require her aid. Please, return her to me at once.”

“As you wish, Great Deku Tree,” Navi spoke then turned and began to fly forward. Her eyes glanced around, and she sighed. “How am I going to find someone without a fairy when they’re all asleep? Do I go into each house and search?” She sighed. “I guess that would be it…Not much else I can do, I suppose.”

Navi flew down and began to look around the village, her eyes glancing in every direction. “Why couldn’t he just tell me her name?” she sighed. “At least he told me her gender…” She then quickly pulled her legs forward and came to a full stop in midair. “Wait a minute…there’s only one person in this whole forest who has no fairy, isn’t there? It’s that one girl…what’s her name…” She put her hand to her head and began to think heavily. “Wasn’t it…Link?”

* * *

Link yawned as she sat back in her bed. She had changed into her pajamas, which consisted of nothing more then a long green shirt. Her hair was now let loose as her headband now sat on the table in the center of the room. Her boots were also off, lying near the doorway.

Link sighed and closed her eyes. “So, I’m going to have a fairy soon, huh?” she spoke to herself. “That would be nice. I’ve been without one for so long…but…I wonder why…” She turned her head to look out her door. “And when will it get here? I sure wouldn’t mind if it gets here soon…but what if it’s not for a few more days?”

Link sighed and closed her eyes once more, turning her head so she was facing the ceiling, those her eyes were still closed. “I can’t wait…to meet the fairy…” She felt herself slowly falling asleep now. However, just as she slipped off into slumber, there was a loud crash that awoke her with a start, and she jumped up, turning to the source of the crash. “What was that?”

“Eep!” a female voice shouted, then groaned. “I need to be more careful…”

“Who’s there?” Link shouted, looking around. She quickly gripped her slingshot and her seed pouch. Suddenly, a small blue light floated up from the ground, looking as if it had been injured. “What the…wait a minute…are you…a fairy?”

“Of course, I am, what do I look-” the light paused as it not got a look at Link. “Oh! It’s you!”

“Me?”

“Yeah, you! The Great Deku Tree sent me to find you.”

“The Great Deku Tree sent you to find me? Then that means…you’re my fairy?”

“Ha! Hardly! I just came because the Great Deku Tree said ‘Navi, go find the girl without a fairy and bring her to me.’ So, I left my nice little home to come find you.”

Link blinked. “So…you’re not my fairy?” She put her hand to her chin. “Maybe the Great Deku Tree is calling me to get my fairy? But why would he send me a different one? And why would he say it would come to me if I have to go to it?” She thought for a moment more.

“Forget about that!” the fairy spoke. “My name is Navi, and you need to come right away!”

“Navi, huh? Cute name, though you aren’t so cute.”

“What?!” Navi shouted and got right up into Link’s face. Link could now see past the light and see what she looked like under it. Navi looked like a rather beautiful fairy, being dressed in a simple, blue strapless dress that ended above her knees, and also seemed slightly low on her body as it seemed to hug her mid-bust. Her hair was long, being brown in color and ending not far from the end of her dress. An angry expression was on her face, and Link could barely make out a set of emerald-green eyes glaring at her.

“I just meant by how you were acting…you’ve been kind of pushy straight from the beginning. It’s really not all that cute.”

“Cute?” Navi growled. “Who needs cute?”

“Hey, I’m not trying be mean, I’m just saying…you should be a little more calm and a little nicer.” Navi growled again. She then flittered around Link’s head, then grabbed her by one of the ears. “Ow! Ow! Ow! Hey! Let go!”

Navi let go and gave a louder growl. She then flew right up to Link’s ear and breathed in deep. “To the Great Deku Tree, now!” she shouted at the top of her lungs, which made Link tumble to the ground.

“Don’t yell in my ear!” Link shouted.

“Then get up and let’s go!”

Link gave a growl. “Annoying fairy…” She stood to her feet and sighed, brushing off her shirt. “So, do fairies just sit around and watch me change, then?”

“Change?” Navi asked.

“Yeah…change my clothes…I’m not going to see the Great Deku Tree in my pajamas…”

“Oh…” Navi blinked a little. “Well, we are both girls.”

Link shrugged. “I still prefer my privacy…can’t you wait outside or something?”

“Fine…” Navi groaned and fluttered out the door. Link then pulled off the shirt, then pulled her dress on. She then grabbed her headband, pushing it into her hair. She then slipped her boots on, then stepped outside, looking up at Navi.

“So, Great Deku Tree, then?”

Navi screamed and fell to the ground. She growled, looking up at Link. “Don’t scare me like that!”

“What?”

“You snuck up behind me and scared me!”

“Well, excuuuuuuuuuse me, Ms. Fairy, but I just walked out here. You were the one not paying attention.”

Navi growled. “You’re not cute, either, you know?” she spoke, folding her arms and looking away as she floated back up into the air.

“Hard to be cute and nice when the other person is also a pain in the ass.”

“Why you…I oughta…” Navi growled and grabbed Link’s ear again. “Great Deku Tree! Now!” She shouted the last word really loud and directly in Link’s ear.

“Ow! Ow! Ow! All right! Stop pulling! Ow! Damn!” Navi let go and flittered away. Link gave a growl, then grabbed the ladder and climbed down until she reached the ground. She then followed the fairy forward. After a minute or so, they found themselves standing at the end of a crowd. The Kokiri had now surrounded the Deku Tree, each with a worried look on their face. “What’s going on?”

“Link!” Saria shouted and rushed over to Link.

“Saria, what’s going on?” Link asked.

“No one knows. We all got this strange feeling and a vision of the Great Deku Tree calling us. We came here quickly, and- Hey! Is that a fairy?”

Link turned to look at Navi. “Yeah, but she says she’s not mine.”

“Really?”

“My name is Navi, and I would never work with this jerk…” Navi spoke, turning her nose up.

“Link’s not a jerk!” Saria spoke.

“Eh…don’t worry about it…she’s been that way ever since I met her,” Link spoke.

Navi then turned to the Deku Tree and flew forward. “Great Deku Tree, I brought the girl,” she spoke.

“Thank you, Navi,” the Deku Tree spoke, his voice sounding weak.

“Is something wrong, sir?”

“Yes, Link, come hither.”

Link turned and walked forward. “What is it, Great Deku Tree?” she asked.

“Link…it is time...I have sent Navi unto you to be your guardian fairy.”

“What?!” Navi and Link shouted in unison.

“I refuse!” Navi shouted on her own.

“Yeah! No way I’m going to deal with her all day!” Link spoke up.

“Silence, both of you,” the Deku Tree spoke in a booming voice. “Link,” he now spoke in a weak voice once more, “I must speak the truth. I have been cursed.”

“What?!” every voice shouted quickly.

“Cursed?” Link asked, her face displaying shock.

“Yes, and I need thee to aid me now,” the Deku Tree spoke. “There is…a monster…it is seeking something here…I was cursed for not giving it away.” The Deku Tree gave a scream as a ripple seemed to appear on his side. First, a large crab-like pincer reached out of the ripple, gripping the edge of the tree. Then, a second appeared, doing the same. The two then pulled, and a large beast, insectoid in design appeared.

The monster was fairly large. It had two large legs that seemed similar to humanoid boots with small tentacles that came off the sides of them. Two large, crab-like pincers were at the top of the creature’s body, while a single eye rested in the middle of the front of its body. It’s body seemed like it was covered in plates of armor, with two large, shoulder pad-like pieces coming out of its legs. A large tube then came out of the back of its body.

“The Stone!” the creature shouted in an almost female voice. “Where have you hidden the stone?” There was a scream as nearly every Kokiri screamed in panic from the monster.

“I will not tell thee, monster!” the Deku Tree spoke.

“Very well.” The creature smirked as it looked around at the children in front of it. “Give me the stone!” One of its pincers shot forward, grabbing Saria and pulling her back. She gave a scream, and Link bit her lip. “If you don’t, then this poor little girl will be my feed.” The creature then pushed into the ripple. “I’ll give you a chance to think it over, as I continue to eat away at your insides!” The creature gave a laugh as it soon disappeared inside the tree once more. The ripple then vanished, and it seemed as if the creature had never even left the Deku Tree in the first place.

“Link…” the Deku Tree spoke. “I cannot give her the stone, so thou must save Saria.”

Link bit her lip and sighed, nodding. “Tell me what to do.”

“Thou will need to go inside of me and fight her there. Thou must stop her from harming Saria, and thou must also stop her from finding that which she seeks.”

Link nodded. “Right.”

“Navi, go with Link. She will need thy aid.”

“Right,” Navi spoke, nodding.

“I’m coming, too!” Mido shouted. Link turned to look at him. “You won’t be able to do anything in there. Being the Boss of the Kokiri, I have the Kokiri Sword.” Mido smirked, pulling a small sword out of a sheath on his back.

“Nay, Mido, thou must stay here,” the Deku Tree spoke. “Give unto Link thy sword. It will aid her well.”

“No way! I’m not doing that!” The Kokiri gasped as this. No one had ever dared speak against the Deku Tree’s words before.

The Deku Tree growled, and Mido felt a vine grip around his legs, knocking him to the ground. Another vine then grabbed the Kokiri Sword and handed it to Link. “Take this, Link, and go.”

Link nodded and took the sword. “How do I get inside?” she asked.

“I will open the way.” It was then that a large hole seemed to form at the base of the Deku Tree. “Go!” Link nodded and rushed in, gripping the Kokiri Sword tight as she did.

Inside, Link’s eyes wandered. The place was so big, and so completely empty. It was as if the Deku Tree was nothing more then a wooden shell that held nothing inside. Link could hear a noise echoing throughout the room, and her eyes darted each way. “The stone!” Link heard the voice of the creature speak. “I must find the stone!”

“You’ll never get what you’re after!” Saria now shouted.

“Silence, or I’ll kill you.”

“You’re planning to kill me anyway!”

“Only if the Deku Tree does not give me the stone!”

“What stone could that thing want?” Link asked, biting her lip. “And how can she not find it in all of this emptiness? For that matter, why is it so empty? Shouldn’t I be walking into wood or something?”

“The Deku Tree is one of the great deities,” Navi spoke. “Its body is nothing but a shell for its true essence.”

“True essence?”

Navi pointed up and Link looked up. She now saw a strange glow coming from the ceiling. “Do you see that?”

“That glow?”

“Yes, that’s the real Deku Tree. That glow should fill this entire place, but that monster has been eating away at him. It’s slowly killing him.”

Link then noticed something move along one of the walls. “There it is!” she shouted. “Hey! Monster! Let Saria go and get out of the Deku Tree!”

The monster’s eyes stared down, turning red as it seemed to growl. “Must you be cursed as well?” The monster gave a roar as the tube on its body aimed downward. It shook a bit, and soon several large eggs shot down from the tube, landing upon the ground.

“Careful, Link, I don’t like the look of those,” Navi spoke.

“Neither do I,” Link spoke, gripping her sword tight. The eggs soon hatched and small creatures, looking like mini forms of the large beast above her appeared. “What are those things, anyway?”

“I don’t know…it looks like some kind of bug…almost…”

“I hate bugs!” Link shouted and rushed forward. She sliced one directly in half, turning to swing at a second, only to hit a sort of armor that surrounded all but its single eye.

“The eye!” Navi shouted. “Go for the eye! That’s how you killed the first one!”

“Got it!” Link shouted as she readied herself as the bug creatures jumped at her. With a quick swing, she sliced them all in half, then smiled. “That was easy enough.”

“My children!” the monster above shouted, and Link gulped as she looked up. “You dare to slay my children?” The monster let go of the wall, coming crashing down upon the ground below. It pulled itself up to full size, and Link gulped as she now noticed the sheer size of the monster before her. It was at least three times her size. “You will pay!”

“Link!” Saria shouted, still being held in one of the creature’s pincers.

“I am Gohma, Queen of Spiders!”

“Queen of Spiders, huh?” Link asked, stepping back. “Nice to know.”

“Link, I’ll bet Gohma’s weakness is also its eye,” Navi spoke.

Link nodded. “All right. Then it’s time to die!” She quickly pulled out her slingshot and dropped a Deku Seed into it. She pulled it back, then aimed up at the monster, who roared loudly. “Goodbye,” she spoke and let go of the Deku Seed, launching it forward. It struck Gohma’s eyes directly, and she let out a roar that sounded like she was in extreme pain.

“I don’t think you killed it,” Navi spoke.

“I know I didn’t kill it.” Link gripped her sword tight. Gohma opened her eye again and got right up to Link. She smirked, quickly driving her sword into the monster’s eye. There was silence for a single moment, then, with a loud roar Gohma pulled back, causing the sword to slice down its eye. Magic then seemed to pour from the large gash as the creature began to thrash about violently. Its body began to decay away instantly, and after a moment the beast was left as nothing but ashes upon the ground.

Saria stood to her feet, now finding herself free of the creature’s grasp. She looked up at Link. “Thank the goddesses you came!” she spoke and wrapped her arms around Link. “I thought I was done for.”

Link smiled and wrapped her arms around Saria as well, holding her close. “It’s ok, I’m here now.” The two embraced for a moment longer, then made their way out of the Deku Tree. “Great Deku Tree,” Link spoke as she turned to the Deku Tree. “We did it. We killed the monster.”

“Thank you, Link,” the Deku Tree spoke. “However, I regret to inform thee that I was doomed before you started.”

“What?” Link asked, her eyes going wide with shock.

“Alas, I shall pass away soon, but be not sad, Link. Thou did all that thou could, and it was all that thou was supposed to do. Link, I must speak unto you the truth. The man thou saw within thy dreams, he was the man who cursed me.”

Link growled. “Then I’ll have to make him pay for this.”

“No, Link, you cannot hold anger and revenge within thy heart. Now, I have a task that thou must complete.”

“What is it?”

“Take this stone, the stone that man wanted so much that he placed the curse upon me. Seek out the castle within your dreams and meet with the Princess of Destiny.” A vine appeared from the ground and within its grasp was a small green gem that had a small swirl like a vine that came off of it. Link grabbed the gem, then turned to look at the Deku Tree. “Navi…stay with Link…aid her on her quest…I entreat thee. Farewell.” With those words, the Deku Tree grew dark and its leaves began to fall.

The Kokiri who surrounded the Deku Tree began to cry, and Mido growled. “Look what you did!” he shouted at Link. “You killed the Deku Tree.”

Link seemed to ignore Mido’s words as she knelt down and began to carve some wood from the Deku Tree’s body. She formed it into a shield, then gripped her sword tight. “Navi, let’s go to the castle.” She turned to look to Mido, who stared at her for a moment. There was something about her now, she looked different.

Mido growled then quickly pulled off the sheath and shoved it in Link’s face. “Take your Deku Tree killing ass and get the hell out of here!” he shouted. “I never want to see you, that shield, or this sword here again, understand?” He quickly turned and rushed off, tears forming as he did.

Link stared. She could tell he didn’t mean a single word he had just said. “So, you’re really going, then?” Saria asked as she approached Link.

“Yeah,” Link spoke as she turned. “I have no choice.” She placed the gem the Deku Tree had given her into her pouch, then pulled the sheath around her back, then sheathed her sword. She then pulled Saria into a loving embrace, and Saria rested her head upon Link’s chest. They stayed like that for only a moment, and as they pulled away, Link turned to walk off. “I’ll come back for you one day, I promise.”

“I know you will.”

Link then stepped forward and headed off, heading out of the forest. Her adventure had begun, but she had no clue what awaited her in the near future. She had no idea she would be facing against Dragons, shadows, and spirits, and that to end it all, she would even traverse time itself. This was the first adventure, the adventure that history would always label as the Legend of the Ocarina of Time.

Chapter 3: The Princess of Destiny

“Who knew it would be so far away…” Link groaned. “We’ve been walking for hours!”

“Not to mention you didn’t sleep last night,” Navi spoke.

“Why did you have to remind me of that?” Link sighed and stood herself upright. The sun was shining above, showing a whole night along with a good portion of the day had passed, and they still hadn’t arrived yet. “It can’t be too much farther, can it?”

“Well…we are talking about a good portion of the world here…so it is possible…”

“Ugh!” Link collapsed to the ground and sighed. “No food in forever, and no sign of any form of civilization for miles! I’d say let’s turn back, but who knows how long it would take us to get back?”

“Probably about as long as it would take us to get there…”

“I wish we had a map…”

“Which we don’t…”

“You could fly up and see if you can see anything…”

“I could…”

“Well?”

“I’m not that nice.”

“Ugh!” Link groaned again and sighed. “Where is someone when you need them…”

“Hey!” a voice shouted, and Link turned, blinking. Her eyes fell upon a man upon a horse. He looked to be clad in armor, as if he was some sort of knight or soldier. “You there, child, what are you doing out here?”

“I’m sorry, sir, I’m terribly lost. We were on our way from the Kokiri Forest to Hyrule Castle to meet with the Princess…but we’re pretty lost…and neither of us know where to go.”

“Us? We?” the soldier blinked a little.

“Yes, me and my fair-” Link went silent as she turned to look at Navi, only to find she was missing. “Navi?” She looked around a bit, then stood to her feet. “Navi, where did you go?”

“Err…you sure you weren’t just seeing things?”

“I’m certain! She was right here a moment ago!”

The soldier sighed. “What’s your name, kid?”

“My name?” Link blinked.

“Yeah, you are the only one here.”

“Oh yeah, right, sorry.” Link rubbed the back of her neck and gave a nervous giggle. “My name is Link. I’m one of the Kokiri from the Kokiri Forest.”

“One of the Kokiri?”

“Yes.”

“I see…and where is your mother?”

“Mother?” Link blinked. “Oh, you don’t understand. See, none of us Kokiri have mothers. We only have each other and the Great Deku Tree, who is…well…was our father and guardian.”

“Great…Deku Tree? Was your father and guardian?”

Link nodded. “He’s dead now…he was killed by a curse that some evil man placed upon him. It ate away at him until he died, and his last wishes were for me to find the Princess and speak with her.”

“I…see…Well, if you need to get to Hyrule Castle you’ll need to hop on my horse. It’s still a half day’s journey from here to the castle on foot.”

“Half a day?” Link shouted. “I’ve been on the road since last night!” She groaned and collapsed again. “So tired…”

The soldier stared for a moment, then quickly hopped off his horse and picked Link up. He tossed her onto his horse, hopped on himself. The two then began to ride on, and Link found the sleepiness finally creep up on her and knock her out.

It was then, a few hours later, when Link awoke. Much to her surprise, she had not awoken on horseback, but had awoken in a bed. She groaned as she sat up, looking around to examine the room she was now in. “So, you’ve awoken, have you?” a voice spoke, and when Link turned towards it, she found the soldier from before sitting across the room from her. “I was a little worried when you suddenly fell asleep on me.”

“Oops…” Link spoke, blushing and rubbing the back of her head. “Sorry, I hadn’t slept at all last night…”

The soldier chuckled. “It’s quite all right.”

“So…where am I now?”

“Hyrule Castle Town, in the inn to be exact.”

“Hyrule Castle Town?” Link asked, her eyes wide. “Does that mean we’re near the castle itself?”

“Yes, it’s right to the north of here. Haven’t you been here before?”

Link shook her head. “I’m a Kokiri from the Kokiri Forest. I’ve never been out of the forest before.”

The soldier stared for a moment, then gave a sigh. “So, the legends are true then. If what you say is true, then that means the Children of the Forest do exist.”

Link nodded. “Yeah, we exist. Why would you think otherwise?”

“None who enter the Kokiri Forest return. The forest itself has become known as the Lost Woods because of this.”

“The Lost Woods?” Link blinked a little.

“It’s said that, ten years ago, maybe even eleven, a woman ran into that forest with her child. Neither the child nor the woman were ever seen again. This also isn’t the only account of this happening. There have been many throughout history.”

“Wow…ten years ago…that would be…” Link blinked, then looked back up. “Wait a moment…I was born eleven years ago. So that would have been around the time I was born.”

“Really? Would you happen to know what happened to the mother and child then?”

“No, I don’t know anything…” Link looked down. “I…hope nothing terrible happened to either of them…”

“I don’t know…unfortunately, it’s quite possible…”

“Maybe Saria would know!” Link spoke up suddenly, pulling her head up.

“Saria?” the soldier asked.

Link blushed a bit and looked down. “Yeah…she’s…a very close friend…”

“Close friend, huh?” The soldier chuckled and sat himself back. “By the look on your face, I’d say she’s more then that.”

“Huh?” Link quickly darted her head up. “Wh-what do you mean?”

“Well, answer me this…if you are all children, does that mean you stop aging at a certain point, then just live forever? Or does that mean you die after you reach a certain age?”

Link blinked, then looked down. “Well…Saria says she’s lost count of her age…so I guess that would mean we stop aging.”

“Then you must be immortal…” The soldier thought for a moment. “It’s possible that your bodies still develop like a normal Hylians, just you stop aging outwardly at a certain point. So, I would guess that it is possible for you to feel love.”

“Love?” Link blinked.

“Yes, love. An emotion that…isn’t really an emotion. It’s more like a feeling, a desire to always be with one person. It can be felt with anyone, male or female. There’s no harm in loving another just like you. I would say, by the look on your face when I asked about this Saria girl, that you’re actually in love with her.”

Link looked down. “I…don’t know…”

The soldier chuckled. “It’s quite all right. Sometimes you feel love, but you don’t know if it is real until you actually try it out.”

“Try it out?”

“Err…how do I explain that one…?” The soldier rubbed the back of his neck. “It’s…something I can’t really explain. It’s like…you think you might have feelings…so you tell them. If they think the same, you start dating each other…and then things escalate from there with hugging, kissing, cuddling, and so on.”

Link thought for a moment. “What is…‘dating’?”

The soldier sighed. “You know what…just forget I said anything…It’s not easy to explain, and you really have to figure it out for yourself to truly understand it…”

“Hmm…” Link put her hand to her chin and thought for a moment. “Oh!” She quickly jumped to her feet. “Sorry to suddenly leave, but I have to get to the castle to meet with the Princess! Sorry, bye!” With those words, and before the soldier could speak further, she rushed out of the door and into Hyrule Castle Town.

Link’s eyes went wide as she now found herself in a large city, brimming with people everywhere, all much taller then her. The buildings were all close to each other, and the people were many, almost filling up the Town Square which Link now found herself in. She looked around, then bit her lip, now realizing one important matter. She had no idea which way was north, and she couldn’t see anything around all the people.

“Umm…excuse me!” Link shouted out, but no one responded, even though there were many around her. “Excuse me!” she shouted out again as she began to walk through the town. “Hey, can you help- Hey!” She jumped as someone bumped into her. “Umm…excuse…wait! I need…help…anyone…?” Still no one was listening to her, and she sighed as she found herself alone in the crowd.

“Where did Navi go? And where is the castle?” Link then heard her stomach growl something fierce. “Oh…I’m so hungry, too!” She groaned. “Maybe I should go back to that house…” She turned. “But…I don’t even know where that was…” She felt someone bump into her again. “Hey! Watch where you are going!” she shouted. She then felt a hand press against her body, and she yelped and quickly pulled away. The person hadn’t even seemed to notice what they had done. “Damn it! Someone help me, please?” she shouted out, but still no response.

“What am I supposed to do? I’m lost, hungry, and Navi vanished on me…” Link felt tears begin to well up in her eyes. “Great Deku Tree…why did you send me on this impossible task?” She sniffled, trying to hold down her emotions, but it was of no use. The tears began to roll down her cheeks, and she closed her eyes. “What do I do?”

“Hey!” a female voice shouted. “You there! Girl in the green!” Link quickly whirled around to try and find the source of the voice. “Yeah, you, the one that just turned away from me.” Link turned back, blinking.

“Wh-who’s there?” Link called out.

“My name is Marin,” the voice spoke once more. It was then that a girl, dressed in a rather ragged pink dress appeared from the crowd. The dress covered her from neck to knee, though it was completely sleeveless. There were a few small holes within the dress, each looking as if they had been torn open, or just holes from the dress being uncared for. The girl had long blonde hair that ended below her shoulders, and she wore a headband much like Link’s, though it was pink in color. The girl had to be no older then Link, and she was roughly an inch or two shorter then Link as well. “Who are you?”

“I’m Link.”

“Link, huh?” Marin smiled. “Well, glad to meet you.” She held out her hand and the two shook hands.

“Glad to meet you, too…” Link quickly wiped her tears. “Umm…if I may ask…can you help me?”

“What do you need help with?”

“Well, you see, I’m supposed to meet the Princess in the castle…I have this green stone that the Great Deku Tree told me to give her…” Someone bumped into Link once again, almost knocking her over. “Hey! There’s a kid down here, you know?”

Marin giggled. “You’ve never been here before, have you?”

“No…why?”

“Because, I can tell by your clothes, and by the fact that you yell whenever someone bumps into you, that you’ve never been in a big town like this one before.”

“Yeah…I’ve only ever been in my forest…and there’s only…maybe thirty of us there?”

“Thirty of you?”

Link nodded. “I come from the Kokiri Forest. I’m one of the Kokiri.”

“Is that so? If you were a Kokiri, though, you’d have a fairy, wouldn’t you?”

“Yes!” Link then thought for a moment. “Well…no…I mean…I never had a fairy…until last night…but even that fairy seems to have disappeared on me…”

“Interesting…and you said you had a green stone?”

Link nodded and pulled out the Kokiri Emerald. “The Great Deku Tree gave it to me, told me to find the Princess…I guess I’m supposed to give it to her.”

“Really? Well, it is possible…I know the Princess pretty well, actually.”

“Really?” Link looked up at Marin in shock.

“Yeap,” Marin spoke, nodding, then smirked. “You could give me the gem, and I could then give it to the Princess.”

“Really?” Link looked down at the emerald. “Well, I don’t really know if I’m supposed to give it to her, just that I’m supposed to meet with her.”

“Well, I could arrange a meeting with her as well.”

“Really? That would be great!” Link smiled and Marin gave a smirk.

“So, how about it, then? Give me the emerald, I’ll give it to Zelda, then I’ll work out a way to get you to her.”

“That sounds like a good idea,” Link spoke, nodding. “Here.”

Marin stared as Link held the emerald out. She shook her head and sighed. “Yeah…you’ve never been in a town before…” She pushed the emerald back at Link, who blinked. “First off, I really am a friend of Zelda. Second off, what would you have done if I had told you all of that and was lying, and was just saying it to steal the emerald from you?”

Link blinked and looked down. “I…don’t know…”

“Exactly. You’re lucky I was telling the truth. The fact is, you and only you should hold that gem. If anyone asks for it, say no.”

“R-right.”

Marin sighed and smiled. “Come on, let’s go meet Princess Zelda.”

“O-ok.” Link put the gem back in her pouch and Marin then grabbed Link’s hand. She then walked forward, making her way through the crowd and to the north. From there, the two walked a ways until they came to a large gate. A single guard stood at the gate, watching the path.

“Hello, good sir,” Marin spoke as she stopped before the guard, “I must request that you open this gate.”

“And you would be?” the guard asked.

“I am Princess Zelda Shelias de Christine Susan Olivia Margaret Hyrule.” With those words, Link’s mouth dropped wide. She wondered if this was simply a trick to get inside, or if she was telling the truth.

At once, the guard quickly stood up straight and held his hand up in salute. “P-Princess Zelda, forgive me. I did not know it was you.”

“Do not fret, good sir, I understand that you did not know it was me, for that is the reason I go out like this, so that no one knows who I am. Now, if you will excuse me, I would request that you open this gate so that me and my friend may pass.”

“Right away, your majesty!” The guard called out an order, and the gate immediately began to open. The two then walked forward, heading through the path until it reached the castle itself. The drawbridge across the castle moat then opened and Marin took Link’s hand and walked her forward. She then led her through the castle until the two arrived in a rather empty bedroom, but the style was very fitting of a princess.

“So…you weren’t playing tricks when you said you were the Princess,” Link spoke as she looked around.

“Nope, I was being serious,” Marin spoke. “I actually am Princess Zelda.”

“Amazing! I never would have guessed myself.”

Zelda smiled. “Thanks.” She then grabbed the bottom of her dress, pulling it up and slipping it off. This left Zelda standing there, wearing nothing more then a pair of underpants. Link blushed a bit, and her eyes now seemed to catch upon Zelda’s chest, which was more developed then her own, but only by a bit. Zelda tossed the tattered dress aside, then grabbed up another, more royal-looking dress and pulled it on. “Now, then, about that stone.”

“Oh! Right!” Link quickly pulled her eyes away from Zelda, then pulled the Kokiri Emerald out of her pouch once more. She then handed it to Zelda, who smiled.

“So, then this is the Spiritual Stone of Forest, is it? Amazing.” Zelda then looked back up at Link. “All right, since you’ve been honest with me, I’ll be honest with you. I had a vision about this day. In my vision, there were dark clouds covering Hyrule. However, a beam of light then broke the clouds, and from the light came a girl in green with a fairy at her side holding a green and shining stone. As soon as you showed me this emerald, I recognized it as the gem from my vision, which made you the girl from my vision.”

“Really?” Link asked, blinking. “What about the dark clouds?”

“I think them to mean that an evil is coming to Hyrule to try and conquer the land.”

“That’s terrible. Have you told your father?”

“Yes…” Zelda sighed and looked down. “I told father…but he would hear nothing about it, claiming my vision to be nothing more then a simple dream.”

“That’s terrible.”

“What’s worse, I think the evil is right here in this castle as we speak.”

“Oh?”

Zelda nodded. “Come with me, I’ll show you.” She quickly took Link’s arm and began to sneak around the castle. It was a few moments before Zelda spotted the man she was looking for, and she quickly hid Link and herself. “It’s him.” She pointed at the man as he made his way towards them, though unaware of their presence as they were currently hidden away.

Link stared closely. She noticed the man had fire-red hair as well as a more tan skin, showing he was out in the sun a lot. The man wore nearly pitch-black armor along with a long red cape. His eyes seemed to glow with a faint blood-red color, and Link stared intently at the man. “Who is that?”

“His name is Ganondorf,” Zelda spoke. “He hails from the west, in the desert. He’s the King of the Gerudo tribe. He came here about six years ago, when the Hyrulean Civil War was at its worst. He negotiated peace between the races, ending the war.”

“He doesn’t sound too bad, then,” Link spoke, turning to Zelda.

“Doesn’t sound bad, but I assure you, he is bad. There’s something about him…something I can’t shake…I get an evil feeling whenever I see him.”

Ganondorf then stopped in his tracks and turned his eyes. He seemed to stare directly at where Link and Zelda were hiding, though he spoke nothing. They both bit their lips as they pushed themselves up against their hiding spot. Ganondorf gave a smirk, then turned and began to walk off. Zelda peered out for a second and watched as she saw him walk off.

“Did he see us?” Link asked.

“That, or he just sensed us. I’m not sure which. He’s very strong in magic, like I am, so it is possible he may have been able to sense me at least.”

“I don’t know any magic.”

“Which means he probably didn’t sense you.” Zelda sighed.

“If that man is evil, what would he be after?”

“Probably the same thing the races were after during the Hyrulean Civil War.”

“Which was?”

“The Triforce.”

“The Triforce?” Link asked.

Zelda nodded. “You haven’t heard the legend?” she asked.

“No.” Link shook her head.

“It was the time before time, and all of Hyrule had yet to be formed. The land was nothing but a void of darkness and chaos, but it was in this time that the three great Goddesses descended from another land, coming to ours. The three Goddesses, Din, Nayru, and Farore, descended upon our world, and the land began to call to them. It called out, seeking guidance. It screamed, ‘Who am I? What is my purpose?’ And the Goddesses spoke nothing and just smiled.

“After a time, immeasurable in our time, the Goddesses finally spoke. ‘You are Hyrule,’ was what they spoke, and their work began. Din, the Goddess of Power, descended upon the land first. Using her flaming arms, she cultivated the land and formed the earth from the chaos. Nayru, Goddess of Wisdom and Time, descended upon the land second. She poured out her spirit and gave the world the spirit of law. This law gave the land its purpose, and gave the land time. It was then that the cycle was born – birth, life, death.

“Farore, the Goddess of Courage, was the last to descend upon the land. Using her powers, she brought forth life. Her powers created the grass and the trees. She formed the animals of the air, the animals of the water, and the animals of the land. Lastly, she formed the races that would dominate the world, and to all the animals, races, plants, creatures, and everything else with life, she gave the command to uphold the law of the world.

“From their, the Great Goddesses returned to the heavens, and where they left, three golden triangles were left behind. These triangles became known as the Triforce, an object with the ability to grant the wish of the one who touches it. The land that it lied in became known as the Sacred Realm, and it was there that the Triforce remained for years to come.”

Link stared. “So then, the Triforce basically has the power of the Goddesses?” she asked.

“Exactly,” Zelda spoke, nodding. “However, there’s more, a fairly reason addition to the legend. Seven sages were said to have risen up and they created a building right at the gateway to the Sacred Realm. They then forged a sword that they placed at the gateway. The only way to open the gate is to take the sword. On top of that, they created a massive stone that blocks the way to the blade and only with the Spiritual Stones of Forest, Fire, and Water can it be opened. However, there’s one more piece required that was not put into the legend.”

“And what’s that?”

“The secret of the Hyrule Royal Family. It is the Ocarina of Time. Only by playing the Ocarina of Time, and playing a song called the Song of Time, can the massive stone, known as the Door of Time, be opened.”

“Ocarina of Time, Song of Time, Door of Time…a lot of time related things, isn’t it?”

Zelda shrugged. “Those are just their names. I don’t know why they are named such.”

“Hmm…so what should we do?”

“We must get the Triforce before Ganondorf does. It’s the only way.”

“Steal the Triforce?” Link asked.

Zelda nodded. “If we can get it before Ganondorf does, we’ll be able to stop him.”

Link folded her arms over her chest. “Are you sure about that? It sounds like this Triforce thing really shouldn’t be disturbed.”

“We can’t just let it fall into Ganondorf’s hands! If he gets it, the whole world could be destroyed!”

Link sighed. “I guess there really isn’t much else we can do…” She nodded. “All right, so what do we have to do?”

“Get the other two Spiritual Stones. The Spiritual Stone of Fire is held by the Gorons.” Zelda quickly grabbed Link’s hand. “Come with me.” She rushed off, returning to her bedroom. There she pulled out some stationary, then grabbed a quill and ink. She sat down at a small desk and quickly began to write upon it.

“What’s that?”

“A letter. You’ll need it to get into Death Mountain.”

“D-Death Mountain?” Link stuttered out.

“Yes, it’s an active volcano. The Goron live in a city somewhere in one of the caves in the mountain. On top of that, Death Mountain Crater, the top of the mountain, is said to hold the Temple of the Fire Sage. Whether that is true or not is unknown, though. I’ve never been there myself.” She placed the quill back into the ink, then held up the letter. “That should do.”

Zelda quickly folded the letter, then stuck it in a small envelope, which she then sealed with a special wax seal that formed a phoenix with the Triforce above it. “This is the symbol of the Hyrule Royal Family. With this, you should be able to get into Death Mountain and meet with the Gorons.”

Link gulped a little. “O-okay, I can do that.” She nodded, even though she shook a little. She gripped the letter, then placed it in her pouch. “What about the Spiritual Stone of Water?”

“The Zoras have that one. They should live near the edge of Death Mountain as well. Part of the Hyrulean Civil War was the Triforce, but another part was a territory war between the Goron and Zora.”

“So, I’m guessing they both got half the mountain then in the agreement?”

“Something similar to that.” Zelda nodded.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. “Zelda?” a male voice spoke.

“Oh shoot! It’s my father!” Zelda nearly shouted. “Quick, escape out here.” She quickly opened a small doorway in one of the walls. “This is a secret passage I use to escape from here when I go out as Marin. Hurry, go quickly. You can’t be seen by my father.”

Link nodded. “Got it.”

“Zelda! Open this door!” the King shouted from the other side of the room, this time knocking much harder.

“Go!” Zelda spoke loudly. Link quickly ducked into the passage, and Zelda shut it behind her. From there, Link made her way through a long tunnel, which, when it ended, opened up into a small field. It looked like the courtyard.

“You’ll not be getting much further, little girl,” a female voice spoke and Link stopped in her tracks. “Not by yourself anyway.” Link turned, and there, before her eyes was a woman that looked fairly old, yet young at the same time. She had white hair that was fairly short and pulled into a ponytail. She wore a suit of strapless armor that had a symbol of an eye with a tear upon it.

“Wh-who are you?” Link asked.

“My name is Impa, and I am her nurse.” Impa looked up. “The rest of the way out of the castle will be difficult by yourself, and you will most likely not make it. I will lead you out myself, but first, there is something you must know.”

“What’s that?”

“The Goron and the Zora will not listen to you unless you have proof you are a messenger of the Royal Family.”

“Isn’t that what this letter is for?” Link asked as she held out the letter.

“The letter is to bypass the guards that block the path from Kakariko Village and Death Mountain. The Goron and the Zora will not accept that as proof. There is a song that only those aligned with the Royal Family know. I shall teach it to you so that you may use it.”

“A song? Umm…I…can’t sing at all…”

“You don’t need to. All you need is an instrument, or the ability to whistle.”

“I don’t have either…” Link spoke.

Impa stared. “I thought Kokiri had ocarinas?”

“Yeah...most of us do…but…I’m not an ordinary Kokiri…I also don’t have a fairy…” Link grumbled as she looked up. “Navi, I’m going to kill you when I find you.”

“I see…” Impa thought for a moment. “Then you need to return to your forest. I will help you in that endeavor.” Impa clapped her hands and a large brown horse appeared. “This is my horse. Her name is Shalandra. I will ride you back to your forest, then I will ride you to Kakariko Village. From there, you will be on your own.”

Link nodded. “Understood.”

“Then let’s go.” Impa quickly grabbed Link and lifted her without the slightest difficulty. She placed Link upon Shalandra, then sat upon it herself. “Hyah!” she shouted, and Shalandra galloped forward, heading towards the Kokiri Forest.

Chapter 4: The Goron Ruby

“Kakariko Village,” Link spoke as she looked around. She had arrived in Kakariko Village, the previous home of Impa. The place wasn’t very big, having only a few small houses here and there. One house, in the center of the village, was actually still being built. “I’ve finally arrived…now if only I could figure out where that stupid fairy went off to…”

“Link!” a female voice shouted from behind Link, and she turned, her eyes meeting upon the ball of light that was Navi. “Finally, I made it.”

“And where exactly did you go?”

“I just…kind of…flew off and hid somewhere.”

“And why, exactly, were you hiding?”

Navi thought for a moment, then shrugged. “I just…felt like I needed too…” She folded her arms and looked away.

Link gave a glare at Navi. “And what’s with the sudden outfit change?”

“What do you mean?”

Link rolled her eyes. “Don’t play dumb. Going from a strapless dress to a tube top and such a short skirt…Wasn’t the other outfit small enough on you?”

“For your information, it’s abnormal for fairies to even wear clothes.”

Link blinked. “Really?”

“Yes,” Navi spoke as she turned to look at Link. “Do you know why fairies wear clothes?”

“Why?” Link asked.

Navi looked away. “When fairies like me wear clothes…it’s because…” She bit her lip.

“Because?”

Navi stayed silent for a moment more. “You know what, a kid like you doesn’t need to know those kinds of details.” She folded her arms over her chest again.

“What kind of details?”

“The kind that involves things only adult ears should hear!” Navi shouted.

Link turned. “Well, fine, then, don’t tell me.” She looked forward. “Anyway, let’s get to Death Mountain.”

“Death Mountain?” Navi asked. “Why are we going to someplace with a name like that?”

“We need to find the three Spiritual Stones. The first was the Kokiri Emerald that the Great Deku Tree gave me. I need to go to Death Mountain to get the next one.”

“Well, that makes sense.” Navi nodded. “But why is it called Death Mountain? It sounds pretty dangerous.”

“Zelda said it was an active volcano…whatever that is.”

“V-Volcano?!” Navi shouted. “Are you kidding me? You want to climb a volcano?”

Link blinked and looked up at Navi. “Yeah, why? What’s a volcano?”

“It’s a huge mountain that blows up all the time and spits lava everywhere!”

Link blinked again. “That sounds pretty bad.”

“Duh!” Navi shouted.

“Well, in either case, we have to find the Gorons on Death Mountain. They are supposed to be somewhere up there in a place called Goron City.”

“A city on a volcano? I don’t believe it. Nothing could live up there.”

“Well, we’ll have to see about that.” Link began to make her way through Kakariko Village, stopping as she found herself at a massive gate which led towards Death Mountain. Next to the gate stood a guard, who turned to Link as she approached.

“Halt,” the guard spoke. “Where do you think you’re going to?”

“Up Death Mountain, sir.”

“A little girl like you? Climb Death Mountain?”

“It’s important that I go up there, sir. I’ve been sent by Princess Zelda to find the Gorons of Death Mountain and meet with them.”

The guard laughed. “Really now? Well, you have quite the imagination. Why don’t you pretend to climb Death Mountain somewhere else, instead of trying to climb the real thing.”

“I’m not pretending!” Link spoke up and reached into her pouch. She pulled out the letter which Zelda had given her and handed it to the guard. “See?”

The guard immediately noticed the seal of the Royal Family upon the letter. “This seal…” he spoke. “There’s no way this can be a forgery. But it’s impossible…” The guard opened the letter and looked it over. “Even this writing…it is most definitely the Princess’s handwriting.” He sighed. “How did you come upon this?”

“I told you, I got it from the Princess herself!”

“Then what is the Princess’s name?” the guard asked.

Link bit her lip as she began to think. “Princess Zelda Shelias de Christine Susan Olivia Margaret Hyrule,” she finally spoke after some time.

“What a name…” Navi spoke in a whisper.

“H-how do you know that?”

“I told you, I met with the Princess Zelda herself. Please, you must believe me.”

The guard sighed then turned. He pushed a hidden button on the wall behind him, and the gate slowly began to open. “This path leads up Death Mountain. It is an active volcano. Do not let yourself get caught by the lava or the rocks that explode off of the volcano.”

Link nodded. “Thank you, sir.” She then turned and began to walk forward. As they slowly climbed the mountainside, the land became hotter and Link began to sweat. “It’s so hot!” she shouted.

“It is an active volcano, after all,” Navi spoke and sighed.

“I didn’t realize it would be so hot…”

“It probably wouldn’t be so hot if you didn’t wear so much clothes.”

“What’s wrong with my clothes?” Link asked, almost angrily.

“Nothing, it’s just a lot. I mean…you’ve got a full dress with sleeves on, as well as those big boots. It’s no wonder you’re so hot.”

Link folded her arms across her chest. “Well, if you mean I should wear more clothes like you, I’m not wearing anything that shows off that much.”

“Why not?”

“Because…you just don’t do that kind of thing!”

“And who says? What’s wrong with wearing clothes like these? Have you even tried before?”

“No…” Link spoke and looked away. “I’d feel naked in clothes like that.”

“Well, why not just get naked, then?” Navi asked and shrugged. “I mean, really…what’s wrong with being naked?”

Link blushed heavily. “I don’t want everyone seeing my body!” she spoke up loudly, almost in an angry scream.

“Why? What’s wrong with people seeing it? What do you have to hide?”

“A lot!”

“You have exactly what I have, and I’d get naked any time of the day!”

“Oh yeah? I’ve never seen you naked, so I doubt that.”

“I told you, fairies only ever wear clothes for one reason.”

“But you didn’t even tell me what that was.”

“That’s…” Navi looked away. “That’s because…you see…” She now blushed heavily. “Fairies wear clothes for the same reason you don’t wear clothes…”

Link stopped and blinked, looking at Navi. “I don’t understand that at all…”

Navi turned her eyes to the side and glared away. “Well…that’s…” she sighed. “It’s to be erotic…”

“Erotic?” Link asked, then thought for a moment. “Wait…I remember Saria saying something about that…She said that it was ‘erotic’ to take off my clothes anywhere but inside my house…So she told me never to do it…unless we were swimming…I never got that…What’s erotic?”

Navi blushed more. “U-umm…d-do you know…what…umm…sex is?” Navi asked. She kept herself turned away.

“Umm…” Link thought for a moment. She did remember something about that. “Saria said…something about that…that it was something that people do sometimes…” She thought a moment more before the thought finally fully entered her mind. “Oh yeah. I remember now. Saria told me all about that.”

“R-really?” Navi asked and Link nodded. “Well…erotic is something like that…When you do something to make someone want sex…that’s called being erotic.”

“So then…when a fairy wears clothes…” Navi nodded as the realization came to Link. “I understand now…wait…you’re being erotic right now, then?” Navi blushed and nodded. “Why are you being erotic?”

“Cause…once every month…I get this urge…” Navi continued to look away, trying to hide how red she had turned. “It usually lasts a week or so…”

“So…you stop wearing clothes when it ends?”

Navi nodded. “Yeah, that’s about how it works.”

“Then…wearing less clothes…is less erotic?”

Navi nodded. “When I’m at my peak, I’d wear something like you are…”

“Fairies are way different then I expected…” Link spoke as they continued up the mountain. She then blushed heavily as a thought crossed her mind. “D-does the urge end…when you…umm…have sex?”

Navi, who had just calmed down from the talk, blushed heavily once more. “Wh-what kind of talk is that for a kid to have?” she shouted. “Honestly, you shouldn’t be thinking about something so adult as sex…”

“B-but…you have…had it…haven’t you?”

Navi turned an even darker shade of red now. “N-no!” she stammered out. “I’ve never had anyone in that way before, and I don’t plan to any time soon.” She folded her arms across her chest and looked away. “Y-you…haven’t…have you?”

“U-umm…kind of…” Link spoke, blushing dark red as Navi’s jaw went wide.

“What?!”

“W-well…it wasn’t really…you know…like that…” Link bit her lip as she thought. “Saria and I were fooling around…and things just kind of…happened…”

“T-then…you…with a girl I mean…” Link nodded to Navi’s words, her face turning the reddest it could. “O-ok! That’s enough of that visualization!” Navi bopped herself on the head. “As long as it’s just been her…you’re okay.”

Link nodded. “Y-yeah…just her…”

“All right, then,” Navi spoke and sighed. “Anyway, let’s get to Goron City…if it even exists…”

“Oh, it exists, all right,” a male voice spoke and both Link and Navi jumped at the sound of it.

“Wh-who’s there?” Link asked, looking all around. Suddenly, one of the rocks began to roll back and forth, and Link drew her sword. Soon, the rock rolled back even more, and two legs seemed to sprout from the rock. Something then uncurled from under the rock, forming a brown beast in front of her. It looked somewhat fat, but its arms were quite muscular. It had almost no hair, save for a tiny bit on the tip of its head, and its eyes were a deep, rock gray color.

“Oh, I’m sorry if I scared you,” the beast spoke. “I am Con Goron of the Goron Tribe.”

“G-Goron Tribe, you say?” Link asked. “Then…you’re a Goron?”

Con Goron nodded. “I really am sorry if I scared you.”

“N-no, it’s ok, really.” Link waved her free hand in the air, then sheathed her sword. “So, where is Goron City?”

Con Goron pointed to a small cavern nearby. “Right through that cavern. I warn you, though, the Goron Tribe is not as peaceful as they once were.”

“Why is that?” Navi asked.

“A foul man named Ganondorf appeared here a few days back. He asked our leader, Darunia, to give him the Goron Ruby, or Spiritual Stone of Fire as it is also called. Darunia told him no, and so he cursed the Dodongo’s Cavern. Monsters began appearing all over the place…and there was a mighty dragon. We had to seal it all away with a giant boulder! What’s the worst, is that without the rocks from the Dodongo’s Cavern, we have no food! We Gorons can survive for a while without food, longer then you Hylians, but if we do not get food soon, we will die.”

“So, you eat rocks, then?” Link asked.

Con Goron nodded. “We are the Goron Tribe, Eaters of Rocks and Habitants of Death Mountain.”

“Interesting…”

“Darunia sent a message to Hyrule Castle Town about it. He asked them to send help…but no reply has come.”

“Well, no worries, I’m here now. I’ll take care of everything.”

“You came from Hyrule Castle Town to help us?”

“Well…” Link rubbed the back of her neck. “Honestly, I was only interested in getting the Spiritual Stone of Fire. But if your race is in trouble because someone else tried to take it, then I wouldn’t dare take it without helping you out. I need the stone for a mission of my own, but I wouldn’t take it and then leave your race to die out.”

“Then…you think you could kill the dragon in the cavern?”

Link nodded. “I’m sure of it.”

“Then I will show you the way.” Cor Goron stood to his feet, then began to walk off to Link’s left. She followed close behind until they came to a massive boulder that sat against one of the mountainsides. Cor Goron grabbed the bottom of the boulder and began to lift it, pulling it up over his head. “Go, quickly, I can’t hold this for long.”

Link nodded and she and Navi rushed forward, running under the boulder and into a cavern on the other side of the boulder. Inside, Link found a fairly straight path ahead of her. It seemed to lead on and on, but she noticed how the tunnel seemed to have been perfectly dug out. There were many spots that looked as if the walls had been dug at to get some kind of precious ore, and Link guessed this was simply them digging for rocks.

“Well, we’re in here, now what?” Navi asked. “It just gets darker up ahead.”

“You’re a fairy, you glow, give us some light,” Link spoke.

Navi growled a little. “So what? Just because I’m a fairy I have to be the light?”

“I don’t have a lamp or anything.”

Navi sighed and folded her arms over her chest. “Fine.” She turned and dropped her skirt, followed by pulling the tube top off her body. She then took both articles of clothes and handed them to Link. “I can glow brighter if I’m naked, but don’t drop these, okay?”

Link nodded and put Navi’s clothes in her pouch. Navi then turned and closed her eyes, the glow from her body increasing and illuminating the area around them. “Honestly, being naked is nice, you should try it sometime.”

“Not in public!” Link immediately spoke up.

Navi shrugged. “Honestly, you Kokiri…I never got either you or the Hylians…both of you races think nudity is erotic…I don’t know of any other race that thinks that way.”

“Maybe it’s because we’re the only race that has no way to cover our private spots like the rest of you.”

“Hey, glowing only covers your body if you’re smaller then everything else. Fairies can see through the glow perfectly fine, and we still don’t care.” Navi folded her arms.

“Well, I don’t really know, but that’s just how I was taught.”

“Bah…I think this Saria girl was being dumb when she taught you that.”

“Saria is not dumb!” Link shouted. Suddenly, there was a loud rumbling noise. “Did you hear that?”

“Yeah…” Navi spoke, flying forward. “What was it?”

“I don’t know…” Link drew her sword and began to watch the area around her carefully. Suddenly, there was another rumbling noise and Link began to grow nervous and more afraid. A moment later, there was a loud roar, and Link gulped. “W-was that…the dragon?”

“We should never have agreed to this!” Navi spoke up at once. “What were you thinking when you agreed to go after a dragon?” Navi now grabbed Link’s tunic and began to shake it.

“I…I don’t know…I’m not so courageous now…but when I said it, I felt like I could do anything…” There was another roar sound and Link continued to walk forward slowly. Suddenly, there was the sound of something charging, and Link squinted to look in front of her.

“I don’t like the sound of- WAH!” Navi quickly flew behind Link’s head, and Link froze in fear as a large beast began to rush towards her. It was massive in size, and the scales on its body looked almost like solid pieces of rock. It had a long tail, along with four large legs that were currently moving to charge. A single large horn sat on its head while a shield-like piece came off its head and around its neck.

“What the hell is that thing?” Link shouted.

“I don’t know, but I recommend running!” Navi shouted.

“Ahead of you on that one!” Link shouted in response, then took off in a mad dash back the way she had come. The creature followed Link all the way until they found themselves outside the cavern once more.

Con Goron had set the boulder down only a foot away from the cavern entrance, and Link made a quick maneuver to go around the boulder. The beast behind her roared as it then seemed to slam directly into the boulder, causing the boulder to shake a bit. The strike also seemed to knock the creature out. “Did you kill it?” Navi asked.

“No, just knocked it unconscious,” Link spoke.

“Little girl!” a deep voice shouted and Link looked up. She saw a Goron that looked much like any other, though unlike the others he had long hair as well as a beard. “What are you doing there?”

“I…I was going to try and help you out!” Link spoke. “Con Goron helped me get inside, and I was going to kill the dragon…but I didn’t realize what that meant until just now.”

The Goron dropped down from where he stood above the boulder, landing upon the ground next to Link. “This is a Goron problem, not a Hylian problem.”

“Just so you know, I’m a Kokiri, not a Hylian,” Link put her arms on her hips. “On top of that, I’ve been sent here by Princess Zelda to get the Spiritual Stone of Fire.”

“And why would the Princess want that?”

“To save Hyrule from Ganondorf.”

“And what does she plan to do with it?”

“She plans to get the Triforce and use it to destroy Ganondorf.”

The Goron laughed. “The Triforce? That’s a name I haven’t heard since the Hyrulean Civil War.” The Goron gave a sigh. “In any case, what’s your name, young one?”

“My name is Link.”

“I am Darunia, Elder of the Goron Tribe. You say you want the Spiritual Stone of Fire, huh? Well, I’ll give it to you. If you can kill the dragon, that is.”

“And this creature is the dragon?” Link asked, pointing to the knocked out monster.

“Yes, King Dodongo, Lord of all Dodongos. They are one of many races of dragons in this world.”

Link nodded and drew her sword once again. “Then I’ll kill it.” She rushed forward and brought her sword down on the beast, but a clang was heard as the sword struck the rock-hard scales of the beast. The sword vibrated in Link’s hand for a moment, and Link nearly dropped it. “What’s with this thing?”

“Its skin is rock-solid. There’s no way your sword will injure it.”

“Then what do I do to kill it?”

King Dodongo roared as it began to pull itself up, awakening from its unconscious state. At the sight of the boulder before it, it began to move around, slamming against the cavern walls for a moment before trying to rush the boulder once more, which caused a small crack, but not enough to do any real damage to it. “Doesn’t seem too bright,” Navi spoke. “It’s relying on strength alone…”

“Navi, that’s it!” Link shouted. “If it’s going to rely on strength, then we need to make it hit something that will kill it.”

“Or, if it’s not intelligent, then maybe you need to stick something in its mouth,” Darunia spoke. He then reached over and grabbed a small orb-like flower off the ground. “Catch, Kokiri.” Darunia then tossed the orb at Link, who grabbed it.

“My name is Link.”

“Throw that in the beast’s mouth.”

Link nodded and turned. King Dodongo roared again, and Link quickly tossed the orb into the monster’s mouth. At that moment, the creature shut its mouth around the orb, and a moment later, its eyes went wide. It pushed its feet against the ground, showing it was suddenly in deep pain. Its body began to shake, and after a moment, the beast opened its mouth, fire launching forward.

The beast then closed its mouth once more, as if trying to contain the flame. However, the flame that now churned within the creature’s body soon proved too much for the beast. It roared loudly once more, and Darunia tossed a second orb-like flower into its mouth. A moment later, the beast’s body exploded outwardly and Link quickly grabbed her shield and rose it up, blocking the splatter of guts and gore from hitting her.

“Augh!” Navi shouted as she shook. “This is gross! I’m going to be covered in Dodongo for a week now!” She shook her hands a bit. The explosion had caused blood to splatter all over Navi, covering her whole body. Link couldn’t help but stop and laugh at the sight before her. While gruesome, she found Navi’s reaction to be quite funny.

It was about an hour later, in a cavern deep in the Goron City, that Darunia and Link stopped to talk. “This cavern will lead you back to your forest,” Darunia spoke. “There is then a shortcut from your forest to the Zora’s Domain. That will be your next stop in getting the third Spiritual Stone.”

“Thank you, Darunia,” Link spoke as she looked at her hand, which now held the Goron Ruby.

“From this day forth, you are our Blood Sister, and are thus considered to be a member of the Goron Tribe. If you should ever need us, just come back here and we will surely aid you.”

“Thank you, Darunia.” Link gave a bow, then put the Goron Ruby in her pouch. “I must go now.”

“Yes, of course. Be well, young Link, and I pray your hardships will now be diminished, and that you will be able to claim the next Spiritual Stone with greater ease then you did this one.”

“I hope so, too, Darunia.” Link turned and began to walk off. “Farewell!”

“Farewell, young Link, farewell.” Darunia waved as Link walked off, deep into the cavern. The cavern didn’t take long to get through, and much to Link’s surprise, it had led her only a few yards away from the Kokiri Forest itself. She then rushed forward, returning to her home in the forest.

It was there that she and Saria met up once more, and in a gesture to show her love for the young green haired girl, Link pulled Saria close and kissed her upon the lips. She then proceeded to explain everything she had learned, and by the end of the night, Link and Saria had decided they had found each other has their true love. The night was then spent as the two shared a wondrous moment together.

“Link,” Saria asked as she laid next to Link, her arms wrapped around the blonde girl before her.

“What is it, Saria?” Link asked.

“You’re leaving again tomorrow, aren’t you?”

Link nodded. “Yeah.”

“Then let me come with you, too. I want to see the world.”

“But won’t you die if you leave the forest?”

“You didn’t,” Saria spoke and pulled Link close. “I’ll be fine, I promise.” Their lips met once more, and after a time the two fully fell asleep. It was unknown what the adventure would then bring for them the next day. All they knew was that the next day, they would be making their way to the Zora Domain, and from there, hopefully the final step to claiming the Triforce and saving all of Hyrule from the evil Ganondorf.

I want to give a warning...this chapter has a lot of mature content in it ^^" It's not exactly truly mature content...just the typical talk of sex and such...so...more "teen" content...cause it's something I'm sure 90% of teens have talked about before...so I don't think it's exactly an adult conversation.

This chapter gives a little insight into what I imagine being the life of fairies. Whenever I search for fairies, I end up finding most fairies wear almost nothing/nothing. I figure there must be a reason for that, so I came up with one. Basically, the more a fairy wears, the more she's "show off" sorta speak...kind of like us, where the less we wear, the more we show off, this kind of works in the opposite.

You may ask "Why did you go in that direction for fairies?" I did some research in old cultures, actually, where nudity was common place. The less people wore clothes, the more full clothes became considered "sexual". In place where nudity was common place (for example ancient japan before America screwed them over in the 1900s), the thing that made people think about sex was actually the clothes. I wonder...do we do that now? I mean...we're always like "I wonder what she looks like naked" when we see girls with clothes on, right? Or is that just me ^^"

I'm actually a partial believer that clothes is screwing us over >> If we stopped wearing clothes, maybe that would change something? Or maybe it is something so engraved in our mind that, even a hundred years from now, if nudity became common, we'd still have problems? My belief in this is mainly due to nude beaches...you can be nude on them, and no one cares. Why? Cause it's natural for everyone to be that one. Thus, if it was natural all around the world, would we seriously still be all "NAKED GIRL!!!"? Anyway...I'll leave that up to you to decide.

Chapter 5: The Zora Sapphire

“All worked up today, eh Navi?” a female asked as Navi sat upon the railing of Link’s house. She was dressed in a full blue dress that covered her from the neck down to her knees. There were no sleeves to the dress, but there was a small V-neck that came down a bit low on her body.

“W-worked up?” Navi asked. “Wh-why would you think that, Neri?”

A small red fairy then flew down next to Navi and smiled as her feet touched the railing. Her body was completely uncovered, while her hair and eyes were both of a fire red color. Her hair was shorter then Navi’s, only coming down to her waist in length. “The fact you’ve got a full dress on.”

“I-I am not worked up!” Navi blushed as she turned to look away from Neri.

Neri giggled. “Really? Then why are you wearing a dress? Isn’t it true that dresses like that are only worn when you’re really worked up?”

“N-no!” Navi shouted, turning even more red.

“Just admit it already. You’re worked up, and you want some really bad.” Neri smirked, almost evilly, as she spoke those words.

Navi growled. “I am not-”

Navi’s sentence was cut off when one of Neri’s hands touched against Navi’s breast. “You always were easy to get worked up,” Neri spoke as she grew close to Navi. “How about you take the dress off, and we can…play…”

“Link and Saria will be up any minute!” Navi spoke quickly.

“So? They can watch, just like I know you watched them.”

“I…I did not!” Navi protested.

“I think you did.” Neri’s hands gripped Navi more, and she gave out a moan. She giggled a little, then brought her lips to touch Navi’s as she entered into a kiss.

“I…I’m not wearing this!” a voice shouted from Link’s house, and Neri looked up.

“Oh? That sounded like Saria.”

“What’s wrong with it?” a second voice, most likely belonging to Link, responded.

“You may have no problem showing off this much, but I do, especially if we’re going somewhere we’ve never been before.”

“It’s just a spaghetti strap dress. Look, the last place we went was way hot, so I just want to make sure that we aren’t going to overheat while we’re at the Zora Domain.”

“Well, if it’s hot there, then I’ll put this on, how about that?”

“You’re okay with changing out in public, then? Cause I don’t know any private places…”

“Let’s just go!” Saria shouted. A moment later, Saria appeared from Link’s house. A moment later, Link herself emerged. She was wearing a spaghetti-strap dress that covered her from the top of the bust down to her knees. The dress itself seemed rather tight on her, though the straps seemed rather loose, as one had slipped down her arm.

“Are you absolutely sure, Saria?” Link called out.

“Yes! Let’s go!” Saria shouted back in response.

“Looks like we’ll have to postpone this engagement until later, Navi,” Neri spoke and smiled. She gently kissed Navi on the lips again, then let go of her and flew over to Saria. “Saria, one of these days you need to try out one of the guys.”

Saria nearly fell forward at those words. “Geh…really…I’m okay with Link just now…I don’t need to try out any of the guys…”

“But you haven’t tried anything with anybody until Link arrived…and then last night makes your second time with her…”

“Were you watching?” Saria shouted.

“No, but Navi was.” Neri giggled.

Link just stared, not having heard any of the conversation between Neri or Saria. She sighed and closed her eyes as she sheathed her sword, then looked to Navi. “You ever feel like you’ll never understand some people?” Link asked.

Navi nodded. “All the time…with Neri…”

Link giggled. “Yeah…I was just thinking the same about Saria just now…” Link began to walk towards Saria, and Navi flittered right next to her. Link glanced up for a single moment, then back at Saria, only to glance up at Navi a second time. “You’re wearing a dress!”

“S-so?”

“Are you worked up for some reason?”

Navi seemed to fall back at those words. “I-I am not!” she shouted, blushing heavily.

“It’s just…you’re wearing a full dress is all…and I know what you said the other day…”

“I am not horny!” Navi shouted rather loudly, causing two of the male Kokiris nearby to turn to look, as well as quite a few fairies. She then blushed rather heavily at the fact she shouted those words.

“Y-you don’t have to defend yourself so strongly,” Link spoke, rubbing the back of her neck. It was then that they all set off for the Zora Domain. They took a path that was hidden deep in the Kokiri Forest, one that none but a select few knew about. It led them into a large pond of sorts that seemed a few feet deep. At the bottom lied a hole that looked similar to an archway.

“Is that the entrance?” Saria asked.

Link nodded. “Yeah, that’s it all right.” She looked up at Navi and Neri. “Can you two swim?”

Neri nodded. “I can,” she spoke, then gave an evil smirk to Navi. “But I don’t know if Navi can.”

“Oh shut up!” Navi spoke and growled. “Just because I’m wearing clothes doesn’t mean I can’t swim.”

“But you’ll get your clothes all wet.”

“What about Link and Saria? They’ll be getting their clothes wet, too.”

“Umm…Navi…” Link spoke and Navi looked down. Saria and Link had already begun to pull off their dresses. “If we stick our outfits in these Kokiri pouches, they’ll stay dry.”

“How do you put that much clothes into a single pouch?” Navi asked, blinking. “And weren’t you the one who said you couldn’t possibly be naked in public?”

Link blushed. “Th-this is different! Plus, it’s not public, because no one is around!”

“What about on the other side? You think no one will be around on the other side?”

“I…” Link looked away. “I…was kind of hoping…no one would be…”

Navi sighed and closed her eyes. After a moment, she pulled off her dress and tossed it into Link’s pouch. “Fine, then we’ll all swim naked, then, on the other side, we can put our clothes on.”

“Got something to dry off with?” Neri asked.

“Umm…” Link blinked again and looked into her pouch. “Actually…no…”

“Neither do I,” Saria spoke. “I guess…we’ll just have to sit and dry out…”

Navi sighed. “Then we better hope there’s no civilization directly on the other side, or both of you are in trouble,” she spoke.

“Why?”

“Cause, Link doesn’t like showing off anything. Said she got it from you.”

“W-well…showing off your body is certainly not something you should do to just anyone…” Saria’s face was now red as she looked away. “B-but…if it’s Link…or any of the other Kokiri…it’s ok if they see…”

“Are you two ready to go yet?” Neri asked.

“A-almost!” Saria spoke as she pulled off her underwear, then stuffed everything into her pouch. She then looked up at Link, who was also in the process of sticking her clothes into her pouch. “I’m ready.”

Link looked up and nodded. “Same here,” she spoke.

“Ok, then let’s swim.” Saria quickly jumped into the pond-like pool of water, then took a deep breath and stuck her head under the water, swimming forward and through the archway. Link did the same, and a moment later, the two emerged on the other side. From there, Navi and Neri both closed their eyes momentarily, making their wings vanish. They then landed into the pool of water, then dived down and quickly swam through. Their magic allowed them to breathe the water, thus they had no need to hold their breaths.

On the other side, Link and Saria pulled themselves out of the small pool of water, finding themselves next to a giant waterfall now. Saria’s eyes went wide in surprise as she looked around the area they were now in. “This place is amazing!” Saria spoke. The waterfall led to a river down below, and the river led on from there, heading to another body of water, but to what was out of their vision.

“Yeah, it really is,” Link spoke, smiling. “I guess now all we have to do is wait until we dry off.”

“Well, where is the Zora Domain? If we have to cross this river, we might as well cross first. No point in waiting to put our clothes on if we might get them wet anyway.”

“That’s true. Hey, Navi and Neri, can you go check out the land ahead of us?”

“Sure!” Neri spoke, smiling.

Navi grumbled. “I guess…” Neri and Navi then fluttered off and Link and Saria sat back. To waste time, Link began to tell Saria all of her adventures up to this point.

“So, still all worked up?” Neri asked as her and Navi continued to fly above the river, examining everything around them.

“I was not worked up earlier!” Navi shouted.

“Oh, you so totally were! I could see it in your eyes. You want it so bad!”

“I…do not!”

Neri giggled. “Too bad you don’t know the magic for making yourself bigger.”

“And why is that?”

“Let’s just say…Mido is a lot of fun.” Neri winked and Navi’s mouth hung open at those words.

“You didn’t!”

“I did. I was worked up one day…so I cast the spell and met with Mido…we had so much fun. Oh my gosh, he’s really great!”

Navi blushed. “Oh yeah? Well…I don’t think he’s that great…”

“You’ve never had him before either.”

“Shut up!” Navi shouted. Neri’s hand reached over and gripped one of Navi’s breasts, which caught her off guard, making her squeal, then dive-bomb to the ground. Neri giggled, then landed next to Navi. “Th-that was mean!”

“What? All I did was touch you.”

“Y-you know how I feel about that! I don’t swing that way!”

“Oh? Then why haven’t you asked one of the male fairies to help you…umm…lose it…”

“B-because! I don’t want to lose it to some random person…unlike some fairies I know…”

“Oh come on, is it really all that terrible that your brother was my first?”

“That has nothing to do with it!” Suddenly, there was a loud noise and Navi and Neri quickly turned. As Neri looked around, she began to notice the waterfall was splitting apart. “What’s going on?”

“I don’t know,” Neri spoke and fluttered forward. “That’s back where Link and Saria were, so come on!”

Navi growled and fluttered forward as well. “They better not be in trouble!”

* * *

“We’re in trouble, aren’t we?” Saria asked as she pulled herself close to Link, her arms wrapped around her.

“I think we are…” Link spoke, biting her lip. In front of the two were two large men. They each held a long spear-like object in their hands, and each looked human, yet they had large fins on their elbows, feet, and even where their hair should be. Gills could be seen on their necks, and their faces were fairly flat.

“By order of the Royal Guard of Zora Domain, I demand you tell me who you two are,” one of the creatures spoke.

“I-I am Link, and this is my girlfriend, Saria,” Link spoke, pulling Saria close.

“And what are you doing on Zora property?” the second creature asked.

“We were just waiting here to dry off before we came to see you properly. We need to speak with your king.”

“Do you have an appointment to see the King?”

“Well…no…but…I was hoping…”

“Hoping will get you nowhere,” the first creature spoke, cutting off Link’s sentence. “King Zora has cut off all communication with the rest of the world since the coming of Ganondorf.”

“Ganondorf?” Link asked, then bit her lip. “You see…we came for just that reason…we trying to stop Ganondorf…”

“Tell it to the King.” The creatures each grabbed Link and Saria up by an arm then carried them through the waterfall. Navi and Neri made it just in time as the waterfall then closed behind them. The creatures then took Link and Saria up a long slope from there.

Link and Saria now noticed that the land they were now in was Zora Domain. As they looked around, they noticed an entire race of these fish-human creatures, and that the entire land had to do with water. Link now guessed that these two creatures that were holding them were Zoras.

The two soon found themselves dropped to the ground in a rather large room. Before them was a set of stairs that led to a pedestal. From there, they saw a gap of water which then led to a higher platform, where a large fish-like creature sat. The only clothes he wore were a set of red robes, and Link guessed that this was King Zora. “King Zora, we have brought these two intruders to you,” the Zora guard that had held Link spoke.

“Hylians?” King Zora asked. “What are two Hylians doing on my lands?”

“I beg your pardon, your majesty,” Link spoke, giving a bow. “We are Kokiri, not Hylians.”

“Kokiri? As in the children of the forest?”

“Yes, we came from our forest home to speak with you. The Princess Zelda has requested that I come here to get the Spiritual Stone of Water.”

“And why would you need such a thing?”

“To stop Ganondorf, your majesty. The Princess Zelda wishes to obtain the Triforce before Ganondorf does, so as to stop him.”

“Is it really smart to say all of that?” Neri asked.

Navi slapped her forehead and the Zora guards turned to look at Neri and Navi, who they had just now realized were there. “More intruders?” the Zora guards shouted.

“Halt!” King Zora shouted. “Do not touch those fairies, nor touch these children.”

“As you command, King Zora,” the guard spoke.

“Umm…King Zora…” Link spoke, “if we may speak for but a moment…these guards took our pouches, which contain our clothes. Would it be okay if we could get them back?”

“Return their clothes,” King Zora spoke and the guards opened the pouches in their hands. They tossed forward every piece of cloth they found, and Link and Saria quickly snatched up their clothes. They pulled them on without hesitation, then stood to their feet and gave a bow. Navi also grabbed her dress, pulling it on as well.

“Still worked up?” Neri winked at Navi, who growled back.

“Now, then,” King Zora spoke. “I have severed all ties with the Hylians at this time. However, you say you Kokiri come to speak for the Hylians?”

“Umm…something similar to that, Your Majesty,” Link spoke. “You see, we just need the three Spiritual Stones. We ask that you give them to us willingly, and if needed, you give us a test. Already we have the Spiritual Stone of the Forest, as well as the Spiritual Stone of Fire. We seek only the Spiritual Stone of Water now.”

“Is that so?” King Zora thought for a moment. “The man, Ganondorf, when he came here he cursed our deity, Jabu Jabu. Ever since, he has been slowly dying out. If you can cure him of whatever ails him, I shall give you the Spiritual Stone of Water.”

“Break another curse, huh?” Link asked and nodded. “I will do as you requested, sir.”

“Very well, then, feel free to-” King Zora’s sentence was cut off when Link heard a rather loud cough come from Saria.

“Saria?” Link asked as she looked over.

“I’m sorry, I’m okay,” Saria spoke. She then put her hand to her chest as she felt a sudden pain strike her. Her throat grew suddenly dry, and she coughed again. This time, she began to cough even louder and harder, and she soon fell to her knees.

“Saria!” Link shouted and bent down to her.

“I’m…I’m o-” Saria coughed once more, even heavier now.

“What’s wrong? What’s going on, Saria?”

“It’s the curse,” King Zora spoke. “It was designed to wipe out all who entered here. It would start with Jabu Jabu and then expand out from him to everything else around here.”

“How am I not cursed, then?” Link asked.

“I am not sure, young lady, but perhaps it is a sign.” King Zora clapped his hands and a third Zora guard appeared. “Mikau, give this young lady the boomerang. She may need it.”

“As you wish, sir,” Mikau spoke then walked over to Link. He held out a small boomerang, and Link took hold of it.

“That boomerang…it may be the only thing that can stop this curse…”

“How is it you are not affected, Your Majesty?”

“I am…the curse comes at us in stages. The first, our throats go dry and we feel pain in our chests. Once that settles, the pain strikes at our very hearts. From there, the pain strikes at our heads, making it hard for us to see. Lastly, before it kills us, it finds a way to eat away at us. Our bodies become broken, and they literally begin to fall apart before our very eyes. After a time, our bodies stop breaking, but when they do, the final minutes of pain are unbearable. A sharp pain in your chest and you suddenly cannot breathe. It feels like your chest explodes, then, before you know it, you’re dead.”

“That’s terrible!” Link shouted and bit her lip, then looked at Saria, who was still coughing badly. “Saria, I’ll get rid of the curse, don’t worry.”

“L-Link…be careful…” Saria spoke, then returned to coughing.

“How do I get to Jabu Jabu?” Link asked.

“This archway behind me,” King Zora spoke. “It will lead you through.”

Link nodded and rushed up to the platform that was the throne. There, behind King Zora, she found an archway which led on. She quickly rushed through it, and Navi followed close behind. Neri, however, stayed with Saria. “It’s Jabu Jabu!” Link spoke as she entered the large lake that held a rather large whale-like creature.

“That’s got to be him, let’s go,” Navi spoke. She then grabbed her chest and began to cough loudly.

“Ack! Not you, too!” Link spoke and bit her lip. “This is really bad now. I have to get rid of that curse!” She rushed up to Jabu Jabu, snatching up a fish in the process. “Jabu Jabu! Please, allow me entry into you so that I may cure you of this curse within you! I present to you this morsel in a prayer that you will let me aid you.”

Jabu Jabu’s eyes fixated directly on the fish in Link’s hand. Its mouth began to slowly open, and Link felt suction as Jabu Jabu began to slowly suck her up. Soon, she found herself being pulled into Jabu Jabu’s stomach by force, and once inside, she grumbled as she slowly stood to her feet. “So, this is the belly of a whale, huh?” she asked.

Suddenly, there was a shriek that sounded like a young girl’s scream, and Link quickly rushed forward. What met her eyes only moments later was a large parasite-like monster. It had several long tentacles, along with a large round body. Around its body were several large jellyfish-like creatures, and on top of its head were three radar-like objects.

The monster’s large tentacles had wrapped around a Zora, but this Zora was different then the others. This particular Zora looked much younger then any of the others, probably being about Link’s age. She also noticed the body shape of the Zora was that of a female’s, and that her breasts were about the same size as Link’s. “Get off of me!” the girl shouted as she kicked the tentacles of the monster.

“I’ll help you!” Link shouted and rushed forward. She tossed the boomerang forward, and its seemingly sharp edges cut right through the tentacles of the monster, making it roar loudly.

“I could have handled it on my own!” the girl shouted, folding her arms over her chest.

“No time to argue!” Link quickly grabbed the boomerang as it flew back into her hands. It seemed that its edges now seemed rather dull in her hand, yet she knew that throwing it seemed to make them sharp. She then aimed them at the parasite-like monster itself, and the boomerang flew forward, slicing through the monster. It roared again, then its body began to shake before finally seeming to explode outward.

“I did it!” Link shouted and rose her hand to catch the boomerang.

“Yeah? So what?” the girl asked, looking away.

“Hey! I just saved your life!”

“I didn’t need saving! I could have handled myself just fine, thank you very much. You see, I’m Princess Ruto of the Zora Tribe. Princesses never need saving, and they are always perfectly capable of getting themselves out of any situation.”

“Then why was that creature so fixated on you?”

“Not to mention…” Navi spoke as she coughed a little. “It seemed to be doing rather…erm…”

“Seemed to be doing rather…what?” Ruto asked.

“Ecchi things…” Navi finished.

“I was perfectly fine!” Ruto shouted at those words. “It wasn’t doing anything to me…I would have been fine…mostly…” She looked away.

“After being violated…” Ruto growled and grabbed Navi and began to tug on her wings. “Ow! Ow! Ow! Hey! That hurts!” she shouted.

“That’s what you get for saying such adult things!”

“Hey! I can say whatever I want! After all, I am an adult!”

“Really now?”

“Yes.” Navi folded her arms and looked away.

“Then you should know you shouldn’t be saying such adult things to children!” Ruto shouted which made Navi flutter back.

“Umm…I really don’t understand this conversation at all…” Link spoke, rubbing the back of her head. She then blinked. “Hey, wait a minute, you stopped coughing, Navi.”

Navi blinked. “I did…” she spoke, “and I don’t feel any pain either…that parasite thing must have been the curse!”

“I could have told you that,” Ruto spoke.

“Well, it’s just nice to know we killed it,” Link spoke, rubbing the back of her head again.

“Anyway, we should get out of here.”

“Yeah, you need to get the Spiritual Stone of Water now,” Navi spoke.

“Wait…what about the Zora Sapphire?” Ruto asked.

“King Zora said I could have it if I cured Jabu Jabu,” Link spoke.

Ruto laughed. “He did, did he? He forgets, then, that I’m the one who actually owns it!” She seemed to suddenly pull the Zora’s Sapphire out of nowhere. It was shaped similar to three semi-circles put together in the center. There were then three circular sapphires embedded in each semi-circle, forming a full circle out of it.

“That’s the Zora’s Sapphire?” Link asked and looked at it.

“Yeap, it’s the Zora Engagement Ring, or so my Mom said. Mom said never to give it to anyone unless I’m going to get engaged to them.”

“Engagement Ring?” Link asked and Ruto looked at her.

“Yeap.” Ruto then looked down at the sapphire and thought for a moment. “What do you need it for, exactly?”

“To save the world from the evils that Ganondorf is trying to unleash.”

Ruto sighed. “I guess I can part with it then.” She held the Zora’s Sapphire out and handed it to Link. “But you better take good care of it, you understand?”

Link nodded. “Certainly.”

Ruto smiled. “All right, then go, but don’t tell my father I gave it to you, and don’t ask for it when you get out there.” With those words, Link returned to the throne room, where he met up with Saria, who was back to normal once again. The two hugged, then gave each other a quick kiss.

“I’m so glad you’re okay,” Link spoke.

“Same to you,” Saria spoke.

“Thank you, Link, for breaking the curse upon all of us,” King Zora responded.

“Your welcome, Your Majesty.” Link then turned to Saria. “Well, we’ve got what we came for, so let’s go.”

Saria blinked. “You got the Spiritual Stone already?”

Link nodded. “Ruto told me I can’t tell King Zora, though.”

“Ruto?”

“I’ll tell you on the way to Hyrule Castle Town.” Link, Saria, Navi, and Neri then all headed off from there. They left the Zora Domain and started on their way back to Hyrule Castle Town. As they grew close, night began to approach, and dark clouds seemed to quickly roll in. “Saria, hide.”

“Why?” Saria asked.

“Just do it.” Saria nodded and rushed to a small hiding place. Link stepped forward and bit her lip as she noticed the gate to Hyrule Castle Town had been shut.

“This is it…” Link spoke. “This is all…exactly it…”

The drawbridge soon began to lower, and soon Link heard the sound of hooves. Link quickly jumped out of the way as a white horse rushed by, carrying on it both Zelda and Impa. “Link!” Zelda shouted. “Impa, we have to stop.”

“Stop and we die,” Impa spoke.

Zelda growled. “Catch!” Link quickly rose her hand as she tossed a blue ocarina towards Link. She quickly caught the ocarina in her hand, then looked down at it. Upon the ocarina was the symbol of the Triforce, and Link seemed to stare at it.

“Link, look out!” Saria shouted, and Link quickly whirled around. There she saw him, mounted on a black horse. Ganondorf now stood before her, an evil smirk on his face.

“You there, little girl, give the ocarina to me,” Ganondorf spoke.

Link quickly stuffed the ocarina in her pouch and Ganondorf laughed. “You will not get the Ocarina of Time,” Link spoke.

“I will have it.” Ganondorf rose his hand and Link quickly pulled an ocarina out of his pocket. She held it up just as Ganondorf unleashed a blast of magic forward. The blast sent Link flying backwards, causing the ocarina to fly into the air. “No!” Ganondorf shouted as he watched in horror as the ocarina flew down, smashing upon the ground. “You…you destroyed it!”

Link pulled herself up into a sitting position. “Now…you can never get…the Triforce…” she spoke as she struggled to stand.

Ganondorf hopped off his horse and growled as he walked over to Link. He gripped her by the front of the tunic and pulled her up. “Any other day, little girl, and I would kill you, but not today.” He tossed Link away, causing her to slam into the ground next to Saria. “I have a princess to capture.” He quickly hopped upon his horse and raced forward, rushing in the direction Zelda and Impa had gone.

Once Ganondorf was out of sight, Saria rushed over to Link’s side. She pulled her up and looked down at her. “Are you okay?” she asked.

Link nodded. “I’ve felt better…but yeah…” She reached into her pouch and pulled a blue ocarina from her pouch. “At least he didn’t get this…”

Saria’s eyes went wide. “I thought you smashed that.”

“So did he. I’m sorry, Saria…but that was your ocarina…”

Saria smiled and shook her head. “As long as you’re okay, then it’s ok. I can always make another one.”

Link nodded. “I have to take this to the Temple of Time now. Neri, make sure Saria makes it back to the forest, ok?”

“I’m going with you!” Saria spoke.

“No.” Link stood to her feet and groaned. “This is something I have to do…I can’t explain it…I just know I have to do this by myself…”

Saria looked down. “Then…I’ll be waiting…in the forest…for when you return…”

Link smiled. “All right. I’ll come right back, I promise.” Link then rushed forward, heading into Hyrule Castle Town as Saria headed off for the Kokiri Forest. Link then made her way through Hyrule Castle Town until she came a large, church-like building. She pushed the door open, and there, at the end of the room, lied a large pedestal with three indentations upon it, each shaped like a different Spiritual Stone.

“This is it, Navi,” Link spoke as she stepped up to the pedestal. She pulled out each of the Spiritual Stones and placed them upon the pedestal, then pulled out the blue ocarina. “The Song of Time…” Link closed her eyes. “When the ocarina touched my hand…I definitely saw a vision…What was it?”

* * *

“Link,” Zelda spoke as she stood before the pedestal within the Temple of Time. “If you are seeing this, I am now gone. I fear Ganondorf may be making a move soon. I must escape, and I must take the Ocarina of Time with me. I know you now have the ocarina, meaning you somehow found it after my escape. I’m sorry…the best I can do…is leave this for you…the Song of Time.” Zelda pulled the Ocarina of Time up to her mouth and began to play upon it.

* * *

“Yes, that’s definitely it,” Link spoke and pulled the Ocarina of Time up to her mouth. She began to play the notes she had seen in her vision, and the room around her began to glow. The three Spiritual Stones lit up brightly, and atop one of the walls, the Triforce symbol began to glow brightly. Suddenly, under the Triforce symbol, the wall before them began to rumble as it slowly pulled apart, revealing a doorway. As the song finished, the door finished opening, and Link looked forward.

“Door of Time, Song of Time, Ocarina of Time, Temple of Time…” Link spoke and sighed. “They all have to do with time.” She walked forward, walking through the now open doorway before her.

“Link!” Navi shouted. “That can’t be…but it is! That’s…the Master Sword!” Navi quickly fluttered forward, stopping only to stare as she flew around a large blade in the center of the room. The hilt of the blade was purple in color and fashioned in a sort of W shape with a golden point in the middle of it all. The Triforce symbol had been engraved upon the blade itself, and the blade seemed to glow brightly with energy. “The Sword of Evil’s Bane.”

Link slowly walked forward, stopping at the sword. It was pushed into a pedestal, and Link looked around, noticing the pedestal had six symbols all arranged in a row around it. “The Master Sword…” She reached forward and touched it. “Master Sword, please, lend me your strength. Give me the power to fight against the evil one, and prevent him from conquering the land.”

Link gripped the Master Sword tight with both hands and closed her eyes. “Give me strength!” The sword slid right out of the pedestal with ease as Link pulled upon it. Suddenly, there was a bright glow that began to swirl around her. The light jumped into her chest, and she felt her body and spirit separate. Her body collapsed forward, and a second glow appeared that surrounded them.

Link felt herself ascending into the air, then the world around her seemed to fade from existence. The world then seemed to grow dark, and Link entered into a deep sleep, one which she would not awaken from for a long time. Navi, too, fell into this deep slumber, and as the two slept, a shadow passed into the Temple of Time and crossed through the sacred portal into the Sacred Realm.

It would be seven years before Link would awaken, and when she did, she would find herself on her grandest adventure yet. For this was only the beginning of the Legend of the Ocarina of Time.

Chapter 6: Rauru, The Sage of Light

“What…is this feeling?” Link asked in her mind. “Why do I feel so…weird?” She gave a groan. “I can’t move? None of my muscles are working…” She was right, no matter how hard she tried, it seemed like her body would not move. “The floor…is that strange feeling on my back the floor?” She was now feeling something cold against her back. Her body felt like it was lying, chest up, upon the ground, and that the ground was some sort of cold metal.

“What happened to me? I remember…pulling the Master Sword from the Pedestal of Time…then…nothing…” Link pushed again, but her muscles still did not respond. “Wait…am I even alive? Is this what death feels like? Darkness, lying cold, unable to move?”

Suddenly, Link began to hear strange noises. They were faint, but she could hear something. “Voices?” she asked. “Hey! I’m over here!” she shouted, but it only sounded in her mind. “Damn it…I can’t speak…what the hell is this? Why does the floor feel so cold? It’s almost like…wait…am I naked? Why the hell am I naked?” Link now felt a hand touch her breast and Link tried to pull away, but she found herself unable to. “Who’s touching me? Where am I? And why the hell am I naked? Oh Goddesses…whoever is touching me better not be one of those people who like to make out with corpses!”

“Link,” a female voice suddenly spoke, and Link recognized it immediately. It was Navi.

“Navi?” Link asked. She tried to look around, but her eyes would not open, nor could she move.

“Don’t worry, young fairy, she’ll be okay,” a deep, male voice spoke. “She will awaken shortly. Just as you have.” Link felt the hand move off her breast now.

“Well…it certainly looks like you were telling the truth…” Navi spoke. “It really has been a long time since we pulled the Master Sword…”

“Yes, it has.” The voices seemed to fade away, along with all of Link’s other senses. It took only a moment before she returned to darkness.

It was a few moments later before Link’s eyes began to open slowly as she finally awoke. She groaned, though her body still did not desire to respond right away. After a moment, she pushed and slowly forced herself up into a sitting position. She then felt pain surge through her body as every nerve in her body seemed to activate, and her muscles began to work once more. “Wh-where am I?” she asked.

“Link!” Navi shouted as she flew over to Link, smacking into her face and hugging her tight.

“Ack!” Though there wasn’t much force, Link felt herself unable to stay sitting up, causing her to fall back onto the ground. “Ugh…Navi?”

“Whoops…sorry about that.” Navi rubbed the back of her neck.

“Where am I? Why do I feel like I can barely move?”

“Don’t worry about the moving part right now. That’ll come back to you in a minute.” Navi nodded and set herself down next to Link. She then began to pace back and forth across the ground. “The real question is…what do we do about that guy that was here?”

“Guy?” Link asked, then blinked as she looked down at herself. “Why the hell am I naked?” she shouted as she sat up quickly, now seeing her bare body.

“Yeah, about that…” Navi spoke and rubbed the back of her neck. “You see…your old clothes stopped fitting you…so he had to take them off…”

“What are you talking about?”

“Umm…how do I put this…” Navi looked down and put her hands together nervously. “Link…it’s been seven years since you pulled the Master Sword…”

Link raised an eyebrow. “Don’t joke around like that, Navi.”

“Look at yourself if you don’t believe me. Listen to yourself for that matter!”

Link blinked then looked back at her body. Navi was right. Her body had gotten much taller, as well as much curvier. Her breasts alone had grown quite a bit, and this didn’t account for the curves of the rest of her body that gave her a slim and sleek look, but also giving her a rather muscular look as well. “This…is me?” she asked as she looked at her hands, then gently placed her hands on her bare breasts. “My whole body had gotten bigger…and not just taller…”

“You have become quite well formed,” Navi spoke and nodded. “You look amazing.”

“Wait, I pulled the Master Sword and…what happened after that?”

“The Master Sword thought you weren’t old enough. It took us both and put us into a deep slumber. You to age, and me to sleep so I could still be your companion when you awoke.”

“So, where is this?”

“It used to be the Sacred Realm…” Navi sighed and looked around. Link now noticed the room they were in was rather large in size. Small waterfalls seemed to pour from different corners of the room, and the ground itself was fashioned into a hexagon shape. At each of the six corners of the room lied a pedestal, each with a different design upon it. “This place used to be called the Chamber of Sages. The Sage of Light has been keeping us here and protecting us.”

Link groaned as she pushed herself up onto her feet and sighed. She looked down at herself once more, then looked around the room. “Well, first things first…I need clothes…”

“If clothes existed in this room, you’d probably be wearing them.”

“I can’t go naked!” Link spoke quickly.

“Why not?” Navi smirked and twirled. “Being naked is wonderful.”

“Yeah, but fairies don’t find nudity to be erotic…People like the Kokiri and the Hylians do.”

“True enough.” Navi shrugged. “Well, in either case, you won’t find a single Kokiri or Hylian in this world, that’s what Rauru said anyway.”

“Rauru?”

Navi nodded. “The Sage of Light. He’s an odd sort of person. He says he’s not Hylian, but he sure looks it.” She put her arms on her hips. “Honestly…there seems to be more and more races who wear clothes…why were they ever created, anyway?”

“Only the Goddesses would really know that one.” Link sighed and closed her eyes. “Well, anyway, if we can’t find clothes, where’s my sword?”

“Your Kokiri Sword? No clue.” Navi shrugged. “The Master Sword is over there, though.” She pointed off to one of the pedestals. It was yellow in color and had three circles and three triangles all aligned in a circle; the two symbols alternated between each other as they went around the circle. Atop the pedestal lied the Master Sword, currently lying within a blue sheath that seemed to have various golden designs upon it.

“The Master Sword…” Link walked over and took it into her hand. She drew the sword from the sheath and held it out, looking it over. The sword felt like any other blade, save for a single difference – the sword seemed virtually weightless. “How can this thing weigh so little?”

“It’s made of Mithril,” Navi spoke. “It’s a special metal that was very rare in Hyrule long ago. What little there was…they already got. They made three swords out of the materials. The Master Sword is one of those three swords.”

“And the other two?” Link asked as she turned her head to look at Navi.

“The Black Sword and the White Sword.”

“What are those?” Link turned around fully now, sheathing the sword. She then strapped the belt for the sheath around her back.

“Not sure…but supposedly both are being held by the Gerudo Tribe.”

Link looked down. “The Gerudo Tribe, huh? If they are two swords like the Master Sword…Ganondorf probably has them.”

“It would make sense.” Navi nodded as she folded her arms over her chest to think.

“Anyway, what are we supposed to do now?”

“Rauru said that, when you awoke, I was to take you to the Light Temple.”

“Then what are we waiting for? We should go.”

Navi nodded. “Right.” Link sighed as she took one more look at her body, then looked forward and headed on. They crossed a path which led them out of the Chamber of Sages and out into the Sacred Realm. Link’s eyes went wide as she looked around. The sky was blood red in color and Link could hear the sounds of monsters wandering the land.

“This is the Sacred Realm?” Link asked as she looked around.

“Used to be…Rauru calls it the Dark World now,” Navi spoke as she looked around and sighed. “Rauru said…Ganondorf did all of this…I’m not sure how…”

“Well, we’ll find out when we meet up with Rauru I suppose. Let’s go.” Link and Navi began to travel forward from there, heading deeper into the Sacred Realm. Link kept the Master Sword gripped tightly in her hands as they walked. On occasion, Navi would point in a direction, making Link turn and move closer towards the Temple of Light.

It was several minutes later, and neither Link nor Navi had seen a single monster, though the sound of them was ever nearby. “Is it bad we haven’t seen anything yet?” Link asked.

“I’d say we’re probably pretty lucky,” Navi spoke, turning to look behind Link.

“But you can hear those sounds just as well as me. They don’t sound far away at all, just a few feet, and they’ve stayed that way this whole journey.”

“That’s true…it’s like they’re following us…”

“So, Hero, you’ve finally arrived,” a female voice spoke suddenly and Link whirled around.

“Whose there?” Link shouted.

“Do not fear, you have stumbled into my domain and are safe here,” the voice spoke. Suddenly, Link felt herself lifted into the air and she began to flail around.

“What the hell is this?”

“Please, do not be alarmed. I am only bringing you to me. Once there, I will explain everything.” Link felt herself begin to float off towards a strange cave not too far away. Navi followed quickly behind, and once inside the cave, Link’s eyes went wide in astonishment. She had found herself in a large room filled with ankle-deep water all around. In the center lied a large fountain with three stone unicorn heads sticking up from the sides. Under each head were three golden triangles, the symbol of the Triforce.

Link then found herself set down on her feet. “Welcome, Hero of Time,” the voice spoke once more.

“Who are you?” Link asked.

“My name is Aisha, I am one of the Great Fairies forged by the Goddesses of Hyrule. My job was to watch over the Sacred Realm from this place, the Unicorn Fountain.” Suddenly, two massive fairy wings rose from the center of the Unicorn Fountain. A moment later, and a fairy rose up from the fountain. She had rather short blue hair and her eyes seemed to glow blue. Her skin seemed white in color, and she wore nothing but a blue strapless dress that was fairly low on her chest and ended rather high on her legs.

Link’s mouth dropped open in awe at the fairy before him. She was amazingly beautiful. She smiled and lowered a hand to Link’s face, placing her hand on Link’s cheek. “Again, I welcome you to my domain, Hero of Time. I have waited here for seven long years, ever waiting for you to arrive.”

“Me? Why?” Link asked.

“It is my destiny to give a special power to you, one that you will need in order to aid the Sage of Light.” Aisha stood up straight and Link could only guess she must have been at least twelve feet tall or more. “Hero of Time, unto you I bestow my powers.” She rose her hands forward and an orb of blue light appeared between them. She then pulled her hands away from the orb and it seemed to slowly fall, touching Link and absorbing into her body.

In an instant, Link’s body began to glow brightly. A green tunic covered her body, a pair of white tights appeared upon her legs. Leather gauntlets appeared upon her hands and her hair was pulled up and a green hat covered her head. The hat was pointy, but loose making the point flop back behind her head. A leather belt then formed around her waist, followed by a second that wrapped around her chest. A blue sheath lined with gold and runes appeared upon her back, attached the belt. The Master Sword in her hand then slid right into the sheath and a blue shield appeared on her back, the phoenix symbol of Hyrule looking up to the Triforce was upon the shield. Finally, a pair of brown leather boots covered her feet.

Link’s eyes slowly opened and she looked down at herself. Her eyes went wide in awe once more as she examined herself thoroughly. “These are the Hero’s Clothes, but there is much more then that,” Aisha spoke. “Draw the Master Sword.” Link reached behind her back and gripped the hilt of the Master Sword, drawing it from its sheath. The blade now seemed to shine with magic and the Triforce symbol had become more prominent. “Aim your sword forward and let the magic flow through your body.”

Link aimed the sword forward, her eyes closed. She felt magic course through her body and the Master Sword began to glow brightly. She then opened her eyes, finding words coming to her mouth. “Zap Bolts!” she shouted and a bolt of energy shot forward from the sword, striking the wall nearby. She then pulled the sword behind her back and she felt magic course through her once more. Words once again came to her mouth. “KaiTenGiri!” she shouted as she swirled the sword around. Flames erupted from the sword in a swirling motion all around her.

“Yes, you have received my powers quite well,” Aisha spoke, smiling. “What do you think of them?”

“They’re…amazing!” Link spoke as she stared at the Master Sword. “The Master Sword itself seems to be glowing brightly now as well.”

“Now, Link, let me tell you of your mission here. You must awaken all of the sages and join their power to yours; only when all six are freed and awoken that you will have the power to defeat Ganondorf.”

“And Rauru is the first?”

Aisha nodded. “Yes. He is in the Temple of Light. I can take you there in an instant, but it will be up to you to face the trials inside.” Aisha sighed. “Rauru will explain everything to you once he is freed. Now, go.” Aisha waved her hand, and in an instant, Link and Navi were teleported away. “And be careful, Hero…” She closed her eyes and knelt down.

A dark voice then began to laugh. “So, this is where you’ve been hiding, Aisha.”

Aisha made no move to look up. “Yes…my task is complete, so killing me will benefit you in no way.”

“On the contrary, Aisha, it will. My master will be happy to know you’re dead, no matter what.” Aisha screamed as something dark swung at her and in an instant she was cut apart.

* * *

“So, then, this is it, is it?” Link asked as she stared at the strange, pyramid-like building before her.

“The Temple of Light,” Navi spoke as she stared forward at it as well.

“Well, then, let’s go meet this Rauru person.” Link stepped forward, entering the Temple of Light. The inside seemed to be one enormous room. The entire room seemed rather dark as there were no torches or lights of any form. Link’s eyes searched the room around her, when she suddenly heard footsteps from behind her. She quickly gripped the Master Sword and whirled around, drawing it, only to find no one there, though her eyes did see the massive door into the Temple of Light slam down in front of her.

“We’re not alone, Link,” Navi spoke.

“No shit…” Link spoke as her eyes began to search the room around her. Suddenly, there was a dark laugh that seemed to echo through the room. “Whose there?”

“So, you are the Hero of Time,” a dark, whispery voice seemed to speak. Link gripped the Master Sword tight in her hands. “You look so weak, so frail, but you do have the Hero’s Clothes. So you must be the Hero of Time.”

“Who are you?” Link shouted.

“Are you sure you want to know? Then look down at your shadow.” Link looked down towards the ground. Even though there was no light around her, her shadow was there. It seemed long, extending out to the other side of the room. The dark voice laughed. “I am there!” Suddenly, her shadow shot up from the ground, forming into a dark form of her.

Her outfit was slightly different, as it was a single tunic that was cut rather low on her bust. Her hair was long, and unlike Link’s, she did not have it in a hat of any sort. Her legs were bare, though she had black boots that came up to her knees. A belt wrapped around her waist, and in her hand was the Master Sword as well, but its blade and hilt were black. As she opened her eyes, Link noticed the blood red glow that came from them.

“Who are you?” Link asked as she gripped her sword, pulling back into a battle stance.

“I am you. Since the beginning of the Hero, I have been there. First, designed as a simple test by the Goddesses to test the Hero and see that he was worthy of being the Hero of Time. However, my new master, Ganondorf, brought me back. He’s given me powers you could never dream of. This time, the Hero will fall to her dark self. You may simply call me Dark Link.”

Link growled and rushed forward. She swung her sword and Dark Link quickly parried the strike. The two pushed on each other’s blades, but it seemed Dark Link was barely using any of her power. “You don’t know it, do you? The truth about the Hero; who the Hero of Time really is.”

“I don’t care,” Link spoke and pushed back. She growled and charged forward once more. Strike after strike, Dark Link parried every attack. Finally, Link thrust her sword forward, but Dark Link simply flipped up, landing on the edge of Link’s sword. She smirked and quickly brought her sword around, striking Link in the face and knocking her back. Link grabbed where she was hit, but much to her surprise, there was no injury. It was as if the sword had cut through her, not injuring her on the outside, but on the inside.

Dark Link laughed. “The Hero of Time is but a pawn! The Goddesses created him when the first evil, Mandrag Ganon, appeared! When he claimed the Triforce the first time, the Goddesses needed someone to stop his terrible reign over the world! They forged the Hero of Time, who sealed Mandrag Ganon away, but he was never destroyed, he cannot be destroyed!”

“I don’t care!” Link shouted and quickly got to her feet. She pointed her sword forward and unleashed a bolt of energy forward, one Dark Link quickly cut in half with a single wave of her sword.

“The Hero of Time is futile,” Dark Link spoke as she stepped forward. Her body swung side to side as she walked, as if trying to maintain a sexy form. “So it is written in the Book of Mudora, ‘the Hero of Time shall fight the Darkness again and again, but lo, the day will come when he will not prevail, and Hyrule shall fall to the Dark One.’”

Link growled. “I told you, I don’t care!” she shouted and rushed forward. Dark Link quickly rose her sword, parrying the attack. “I don’t care if the Hero will win or fail. The point of fighting is for hope! I’ll fight, I’ll always fight! Whether I win or lose, I’ll keep fighting anyway. Even if it means only delaying Hyrule’s eventual fate, I don’t care. If Hyrule is to die, then it will not die today!”

Suddenly, Link found strength come to her body. She pulled her sword up, pushing Dark Link’s sword off of her. She then whirled her sword around and brought it down. Dark Link moved to parry, but the Master Sword cut Dark Link’s sword in half. Dark Link gave a loud screech as the Master Sword then cut through her body. Light began to course through her dark form, appearing like cracks in a window. A moment later, her form shattered apart like glass, dissipating into darkness.

It was then that light seemed to shine throughout the Temple of Light. In the center of it stood a short man, about six inches shorter then Link herself. The man was bald, but had a moustache that was gray, showing he was most likely quite old. His outfit consisted of an orange robe that covered his body. “So, the Hero has finally awakened,” the man spoke.

“You…are Rauru?” Link asked as she squinted into the light.

“That I am.” Rauru slowly floated to the ground as the light dimmed, but did not dissipate.

“Then you are also the Sage of Light I was supposed to free here?”

Rauru nodded. “That I am.”

“Then you can tell me what’s going on?”

“Yes, I can.”

“Then please do so.”

“Of course. It all started three hundred years ago. The races were still separate at the time, and each had their own King. There were seven at that time: the Hylians – those who were ruled by the Royal Family and excelled the most in magic; the Gorons – farmers of rocks, ruled by the Patriarch; the Zoras – fishers and lovers of water, ruled by their own King; the Shiekah – those who worked in shadow and were formed by the Goddesses to be servants of the Hylians, they were ruled by the Shadow Lord; the Kokiri – the children of the forest who, while not ruled by a King, had a guardian spirit known as the Deku Tree; the Gerudo – those who lived in the desert, usually claimed as bandits; and finally there was a race known as the Picori – small creatures lead by what was called the Elder.

“These seven races were the races of Hyrule. They were constantly at war, each believing themselves to be the stronger. One day, however, the Gerudo King bore a son which he named Mandrag Ganon. The son was raised to be ruthless and cunning, to desire only power. In turn, he learned great magics and soon had shed off his body and taken the form of a monstrous pig creature. This creature was undead and could not be stopped, and his army was an army of undead.

“Mandrag Ganon stormed the world, conquering land after land until finally he came to the Sacred Realm where he stole away the Triforce. With its power, he became stronger. The Gerudos, however, were not pleased with this new master and his use of the undead, and as such the Queen rallied the Gerudos against him. It just so happened that she was one of the seven sages.

“The sages were members of the seven races, usually holding a position of ‘wise man’. Wise and powerful, they had tried time and time again to bring peace to the world, but to no avail. The sages decided they could only do one thing to stop him, and so they forged the Master Sword with the remaining Mithril in the world. The sword was then blessed by Farore herself, but only her chosen one could wield it.

“The sages searched for years, but could not find the one. As such, there became a legend of one known as the Hero of Time who would save the world. Eventually, one did finally appear, and with the Master Sword, he defeated Mandrag Ganon. However, there was one problem. As the beast lay dying, Ganon cast a spell that sealed his soul within the Triforce of Power, then sent the Triforce back to the Sacred Realm.

“It was then decided that, in order to keep Ganon from returning, the Triforce needed to be sealed away. The Temple of Time was constructed at the portal between the Sacred Realm and Hyrule. The Master Sword was then placed upon the portal, sealing it shut. To then safe guard the Master Sword, the Door of Time was constructed, and the three Spiritual Stones were forged. The Ocarina of Time was then also forged to be the only thing that could open the door.

“It was then, two generations ago, that a King of Hyrule came to the throne that was a ruthless ruler. He commanded the Shiekah to do evil deeds, and they did so at his command, though they had no desire to do such things. In the end, they became tired of their oppressors and the Shadow Lord, Majora, decided something had to be done. They fashioned masks of power and used their powers to claim the throne, then aimed to claim the Triforce itself.

“It was then that the Goddesses appeared and cast the Shiekah into a mirror known as the Mirror of Twilight. Within would lie the Twilight Realm where they would live out the rest of their lives. They spared only those Shiekah that were still loyal to the Royal Family, and when the next King ascended to the throne, he quickly fought to stop the terrible things his father had done.

“Unfortunately, his power alone was not enough, but one man named Ganondorf, King of the Gerudo Tribe, stepped forward. He worked with the King and earned his trust and they ended the war and brought peace to the world. The peace then lasted for ten years, until Ganondorf made his move. He had mastered the powers of Mandrag Ganon, and rose an undead army to storm the castle. He destroyed everything in his path, and the Princess was forced to flee.”

“Is this where I came in?” Link asked.

Rauru nodded. “Yes,” he spoke. “She threw you the Ocarina of Time and you opened the Door of Time. However, you were too young to wield the Master Sword, and so you were taken up and placed within the Chamber of Sages to sleep until you were old enough. This, however, opened the door to the Sacred Realm, and though you did not mean to let Ganondorf through by opening it, he did so anyway. He claimed the Triforce, and since has used its power to lay siege to the world.

“However, the Triforce was not wholly his. When he touched it, the Triforce split into three. Only the piece that represented his heart and desires stayed in his hands. That piece was Power.”

“And where did the others go?” Link asked.

“The Triforce of Wisdom went to the Princess Zelda. The Triforce of Courage however…” Rauru reached behind his back and pulled a small golden triangle out from his robe. “It has been waiting for you to awaken, Link. It could not join with you while you slept, but now awakened, you need only touch it and it is yours.”

Link stared at the golden triangle for a moment in awe, then turned her head. “I don’t deserve it,” she spoke.

“Deserve it or not, it is your destiny, Link. The Triforce of Courage must belong to the Hero of Time. You are that Hero.”

Link turned back and sighed. “I am the only one?”

Rauru nodded. “That is why even though I touch it, it has not joined with me. You are the only one who can claim it.”

“Then…I have no choice…” Link reached forward and touched the triangle. There was a flash of light, then the Triforce was gone from Rauru’s hand. The three golden triangles then appeared on Link’s left hand, but two were darker, almost black in color, while the bottom right triangle seemed to glow brightly.

“The Triforce of Courage is yours. Now, Hero of Time, it is time for you to complete your mission. You must stop Ganondorf, but to do that, you will need the Power of the Sages. Go to each of the five temples on Hyrule and awaken a sage. Once all six are awoken, the seventh will appear. With all seven, we will fight and defeat Ganondorf.”

Link nodded. “Understood.”

Rauru held out his hand and light seemed to collect into his hand, forming into a golden medallion. “This is the Medallion of Light. With it you shall be able to use the powers of light. Hold out the Master Sword.” Link did as she was told and held out the Master Sword. The Medallion then seemed to absorb into the sword and Link felt the medallions power course through her. “When you obtain a bow, draw its string back and the power of the Light Arrow will be yours to command.”

Link nodded. “Now, what do I do from here?”

“Awaken the sages as I said. I will return you to Hyrule. Whenever a sage is awoken, you will be brought back to the Chamber of Sages and that sage will give you their powers.” Rauru rose his hand and light swirled around Link. “Now, return to Hyrule, and awaken the sages.” Link felt herself lifted up, before her body vanished, returning to Hyrule.

* * *

“Seven years…” Ganondorf spoke as he sat upon his throne, surrounded by many of his followers. “Is this true?”

“Yes, Lord Ganondorf,” a man spoke as he stood there, bowing before him.

“Very well…then we know where one of them is…but what of the Princess?”

“Her location is still unknown…”

Ganondorf growled and slammed his fist into his throne. “Seven years and you know the location of the Hero of Time, but not Zelda?”

“Yes.”

Ganondorf growled. “Continue the search…I cannot rule this world without her… She has an all too important piece to the Triforce…”

“Yes, sir.” The man then stood to his feet and turned away. “I will not fail you.”
