Ebay pwns me again

Recommended Posts

So like. I'm having trouble deciding something.

I'm a big Total Wars fan, and I got a hold of Total Wars: Eras. Which gives me like, all the games from the earlier series. Which is a good idea, since the Shogun: Total War I have, isn't mine. And the Rome: Total War I do own, is the Canadian version. (Which I suspect runs slower on my computer because it's Canadian)

So I ordered it off of Ebay since the game is all but non-existent in north America.

And I got it... Then I was happy. Then it I opened it, and some of the contents suffered minor damage. It's cool and all, but I'm also a bit of a collector and when I purchase something labeled NEW! it should be mint, inside and out. But I decided to forgive the seller for this.

A few days pass and I decided I wanted to watch the Bonus Material DvD it comes with, so I pop it into my PS3 and get a message like this:

"lolz wtfux?! GTFO wit th4t n00b PAL/UK BS."

Then I was like, "Wha?! HAX!"

And I examined the box and realized that "12" on the front of the cover wasn't just there for show. It was a rating for 12 years of age and over... I bought the United Kingdoms version... AND I'm REGION LOCKED! =''''''(

So I reviewed the page I purchased the game from and it failed to mention that this was the PAL version of the game. The seller was located in Florida for Christ Sakes. Desperate, I sent them an message and asked if they happened to have a United States version. But I doubt it, if they don't. Should I get a refund? Or just keep it...?

lolz, sorry for the long story.

O.o why..? Geez 95% of Americans came from UK originally! We almost speak the same language, too!

I understand if the PS3 was from France or Mexico, they speak a completely different language, and unlike a PC,the PS3 doesn't have translation software.

I did buy a Japanese version of Super Mario 64,the guy had the American version's picture posted, I then had to buy a Japanese Nintendo 64.

Which was okay, since it was only like $20. How often do you have to read in a Mario game, anyway?

Did it mention on ebay that it could be region locked? When I looked at the Ephemeral Fantasia, it said it would work on a North American game system but might not for other regions (lucky me I'm in america :P)You have to read all of the information to see if it'll work, if it has any problems or not. I tried to show you by looking for another game that had the "wirks on N.A. game systems, but might not for others" But I'm only finding them with fake game age ratings (in other words, if the game is really rated "T", it'll show it's rated "E". No point in getting those if the won't say the correct age rating). I'd say get a refund since you can't watch it at all.

Nah, it didn't mention at all that it was from PAL. My main issue is that I just watch Dvd's on my Playstation - which will not allow me to view this stuff because it's from the UK.

It's not really that much of a big deal, I just wanted the convenience factor.

Anyhow, some guy from the Ebay called me this morn and talked to me. lolz.

He said that the American version is impossible to find, and made that very clear. And if I were to find it, it'd be at a far fetched price. In the end, he suggested I go get my old Dvd Player or find a Dvd Codec.

I don't feel comfortable with another electronic instrument around me. To much EMI lolz. So I think I'll go for the codec.

Anyone know where I can find a FREE Dvd Codec?

Wanna make a trip to FL, we'll mess the dude up big time homie?

What exact kind of codec did he say you needed. I used to have a bunch of different codecs.
