Polraudio 122 Report post Posted April 3, 2009 They look great. Not sure about the Burning Toxic Angel03. I like the Polraudio one. Stay on my good side.(By staying on topic)
Nisage 31 Report post Posted April 3, 2009 The Burning Toxic is a fusion of both Fire and Poison properties, it didn't come like I wanted it to :(. Oh well, you win some you lose some. I guess I can continue to recolor them, but it'll be hard to find a good theme for them (alrady tried some as you can see, Aqua, Solaric, etc...) The "aura" can only be used for human sized characters (it doesn't look good if I try to resize it, like to try and make it fit a dragon), luckly Monster11 is human size since I thought it would be interesting if it had an aura around it. It might work with some Monsters if they're small enough, and I see you liked the joke a bit :P Stay on your good side, or else...... Well....... The moving picture speaks for itself. Nisage 31 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 Bad news, my Chimera sprite has an error with its wings so I have to make it all over again :(. But luckly I have its Battle Graphic all set and ready (ok, I resized it since it was to big :P). Chimera Battle Graphic I'm re-making the sprite right now once I'm done fixing the first post. Sorry it's taking so long with new updates here.
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 Looks nice Nisage. Cant wait till the sprite gets done. HURRY! HURRY! jk take your time and get it right.
Selkie 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 Your creations are so cool. Keep the good work! How do you recolor? With photoshop?
DeathLock 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 To offer some other than a comment, I'll give you some criticism (or advice, pick what suites you best =D). First off all, your recoloring only looks as if you changed the hue all together. That's a okay I guess, but doesn't make the sprite look less natural. First, assemble a proper palette, then recolor each piece of the sprite rather than changing the color all together. The demon magic animation is good, just requires shading is all. Your 'Chimera' is creative, I'll admit that but its just a bunch of sprite pieces that are placed horribly together. Be logical here, a sprite has to have anatomy (unless its a slime or related). I pick both criticism, and advice :P. Well, I do change the HUE a little after I recolor them a bit (but not for all of them), I guess I could change a few parts instead of the whole thing. But I like to make new breeds of monsters (more fire-attribute, water, dark, etc...... Maybe I overdid that by a little bit ^^') I'm still new to recoloring and most of these are my first attemps. I always thought a Chimera is supposed to look something like that, or do you mean something more like this? Demon Magic? I only posted the Fire Punch, and Dark Thorns Animation. Dark Thorns Black thorn vines, with an evil red aura. Well then, do you have any pointers (or advice, whichever you perfer :P) for a rookie? Edit: @Selkie: I'm not used to all of the controlls for Photoshop, but yeah.
DeathLock 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 Chimera is only a name, it can be anything you want. ^_^ Now that looks a lot better in terms of spriting, not the name 'Chimera'. Recolor the legs, so it can match the body. You have the give shape to the elbow (or knee?), the legs on the back look fine. But I recommend changing the feet to a front view, unless you want it to walk in a spider like form. This is what I meant. Nisage 31 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 It's fun making Chimeras (just hard to color the parts to match the rest of it though, unless they are supposed to me mis-matched colors like for the first one). I think it's a knee since those aren't arms, and do you mean for the ones in the front, back, or both (for giving shape to the knees)? And this was going to be a proto-type of a tarantula-like creature, But I could change the feet to make it more interesting, more "beast" like. Oh the aura, duh of course:P. That's kind of hard to shade though. Oh wait, I forgot to post these monsters in here (I'll only post one of them)........ It was a request from OverlordMao, here's the link to the topic....... http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/index....2479#entry18640 Edit: You mean this kind of a recolor? DeathLock 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2009 I think it's a knee since those aren't arms, and do you mean for the ones in the front, back, or both (for giving shape to the knees)? The ones on the front. And this was going to be a proto-type of a tarantula-like creature, But I could change the feet to make it more interesting, more "beast" like. No that's not what I meant. I was asking if this will walk in a spider form, and I guess it is. Oh the aura, duh of course:P. That's kind of hard to shade though. Practice makes perfect. ^^ Few things you should consider. The head on the back ruins the other frames, so edit it a bit to make it separate from the whole neck (like the other frames). The claws on the side is blurred, so fix it if you can (and recolor it to watch the dragon it, or the other way around). Yep, that's pretty much it. You got it half right, but your choice of colors are still a problem. :\
Nisage 31 Report post Posted April 21, 2009 (In order) Front legs, got it, I'll have to fix those. Oh, yeah I was planning to make it walk like a spider, but I think I'll fix it to make them front view, like you said. Oops, didn't notice that about the head, I'll have to fix that, somehow (it'll be a pain to make Chaos Magma again. Do you mean the claws that are one colored, the ones in the back when it's facing left, and right?). What's wrong with my choises in colors? I like it, but what colors would you chose then instead of yellow for the wings?
DeathLock 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2009 Do you mean the claws that are one colored, the ones in the back when it's facing left, and right?) Both. What's wrong with my choises in colors? I like it, but what colors would you chose then instead of yellow for the wings? Not the color yellow. But you apply to much saturation, and sometimes remove too much. Other times you add too much light, and dark. You should have a minimum of 4 colors, plus 2 for highlights (for small sprites like this).
Nisage 31 Report post Posted April 21, 2009 Understood (For the claws). What do you mean by Highlights, you mean try to make sure they aren't to bright, or to dark? Fallen Angel (Less Saturation) I guess I have a lot more to learn then about sprites then I thought, huh? :P
DeathLock 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2009 Here's a tutorial, written by Phasedscar. Pretty much teaches you the basics about color, and palettes. Another tutorial for basic recoloring by legacyblade.
Gary The Duck 8 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Awesome! :) I really like the purple striped windowskin.
Nisage 31 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Thanks :), I was making a characher that commonly wears purple, so I make a skin just for the character that's purple. Hmm.... I've been so busy I haven't added anything new recently have I? I know..... -Minutes Later- I just added 3 Game Over pictures (in Post 2) You can find all 10 of the Game Overs I've made in the RMXPUnlimited Resource Pack, here's the link to it incase no one knows where it is....... http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/index....mp;showfile=188 I'll try to add more when I'm not so busy.
