Help...I have a video game addiction...

Recommended Posts

I found myself day dreaming about Ragnarok Online again. I found it more addicting than World of Warcraft actually. Problem is it's more expensive and addictive than drugs! Seriously!

RO is a team-based online game. So,if you have poor social skills or only one PC you were screwed.

Myself,I have poor social skills and two computers,a desktop and a laptop,both RO compatible. So,I had two characters which,$12 x 2 = $24/month!

That's a lot on my budget. They also had like a $8 for 10 hours plan that lasts for 6 months,if you just wanted to keep your account active.

I played RO for two years with two characters,so I spent roughly $576! Not to mention the two server transfers I did($30 each),plus the items you buy from the NPCs with REAL money(a $7.50 Hat.),so that's $643.30!!

In two years worth of RO. Man...I could've saved up and bought ANOTHER laptop for that much!

In contrast, you'd have to play Runescape for 10 years in order to spend that much.

WoW on the other hand,I spent $264 in my first 3 months of playing.

That was after upgrading two accounts to Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King.

WoW wasn't as addicting as RO,though, not even close. RO characters were all cute anime-style sprites.

WoW's characters were all ugly except the Blood Elves,Humans, and Dranei.

I need help...I keep day dreaming about Ragnarok Online and leeching my baby priest to level 99 with my shiny Assassin Cross....

My mom would rather me start smoking or drinking that playing Ragnarok Online 18 hours a day like I used too.

Ok, that's nowhere near as expensive, or addicting as drugs. Seriously drugs'll make you blow that in a day. They often physically, and mentally cripple you when you're not on them. The only things you could likely have worse withdrawal symptoms from are breathing, eating, and sleeping.

Drugs can mess you right the hell up.

How about none and you get your but playing Perfect World or Flyff. There almost like the other games but there free. Anything is better than starting alcohol and cigarettes. I live with 2 parents and an aunt next door that do that and believe me you don't want that.

I think you will like them games. I play them all the time.

I don't pay to play RO. I have three different Ragnaroks and I play them for free. Wait ...... Which RO are you playing, it might be one that you actually have to pay.

Never heard of that one. I play Blackout RO (you can go to level 500, with a ponster as a pet and a battle partner) Noob Fury RO (I think 250 is the maximum level, but harder to level up) and Forgotten RO (Maximum level is 999, you can even try to get your stats to 999) Blackout is more fun, Noob Fury has some errors with skills, Forgotten..... I don't know much since I play the others. In Blackout you gain levels faster. True in a party you gain levels faster, but I train alone and got a mage up to level 145 (somewhere in the hundreds).

But it's so expennsive, even for a hat. If you had to buy a gold bar I wonder ihow much that would be? :P Lucky you that you don't buy gold bars anywhere.

THe simple way of getting over your addiction is find a cheaper hobby. I tried that when i was hooked on MtG more than my bro was hooked on Meth. Now, if you have ever played Magic; a deck is anywhere between 10-12 dollars, depending on where you go. A booster is $3-$4. To let you know how bad the addiction is: I have around 12k cards. No, serious. I can tell you every card in the Ravnica block, Timespiral Block, and Lorwyn/Shadowmoor blocks off the top of my head.

That is how I got into legos. Can be cheaper, though I have spent upward around 6-700 on them. >.> not as much as MtG tho... (I spent a good grand and a half on that shit over a period of 2 years)

Hobbies these days arent cheap. I recently came up with a new one: my dog.

Leon's right about hobbies not be cheap nowadays. My music isn't really a hobby but I have spent a lot of money on it. Put it this way. The beat (music) for 15 songs $210 which is really cheap because I'm friends with the guy. Other then that some people can charge as much as 500$ a beat for one song. When your really famous they go up to hundreds of grands for JUST the music.

Maybe you could collect rocks. That would be cheap. :D

If you're wondering where I've been...

I started playing a Ragnarok Private Server and a World of Warcraft Private Server.

The Ragnarok one is kind of boring, you get to the max level in like 5 minutes which kills the fun.

Same with the WoW P.Server. Most of the quests are broken on both games. Well on Ragnarok, the quests don't work all that well on the Retail version. WoW quests are more fun on the Alliance side, though I haven't found a server yet that doesn't crash every 5 minutes...
