Well found this place a couple of days ago and registered, so far I have just been browsing looking at everything. Also I was wondering if RPG maker XP was better than VX, I currently only have VX. I haven't really started any projects yet. Just figured I would post a hello since I am new. I experimented a little with older versions of rpg maker but never got to in depth into things, best I did was make a little 1hr long game with a useless giant world map :D

If your new, stick with VX. It's less complex compared to XP.

And welcome to the forums. =)

thanks for the advice. I haven't done much on VX but it seems a little constrained so far. Though that could be because I'm not very proficient at spriting/mapping/eventing or really any of the skills except maybe writing the story. Though I do like trying to balance the game play between character types, it has always bugged me that in almost every rpg I have played there seems to always be atleast 1 class or character that is completely overpowered compared to the rest. Also I noticed ya'll have some pretty nice scripts posted here. Seems like a pretty nice forum compared to the others I have checked out for rpg maker.

I honestly think XP is better, but that's a matter of opinion :P But, yeah, we're one of the better forums for RPG Maker -nods-

If you need anything i mean it anything at all just ask.

If its help with a computer problem or RMXP/VX definitely ask.

VX is better for starters i would say. Then go try XP out.

I agree with Polraudio. I think XP is a better program, but VX is better in terms of learning.

And yeah, we're pretty good - we have a lot of specialized members. Hell, one of our admins has serious skill at making battlers.

Welcome to Unlimited. XP and VX are both good in their own ways, I decided to get both since I couldn't figure out which one would be better for me :P.

@Polraudio: Really, VX is better for beginners?

Hello, and welcome to the site.

as for which program is better, overall I prefer RPGMaker XP since as far as I know the mapping system is way more extensive since each map can have a different tileset of any size... assuming you get past setting all the parameters on all the tiles.

However, for a beginner, I think VX is better since it has all the quick events.

Overall, just depends on which one you are more comfortable with and I used XP for awhile before trying VX, and I think XP looks a little better. anys, once again, welcome to the site. Have fun, ask questions if any come up.

Welcome to RU. I prefer XP to, the mapping in VX makes me mad.

interestingly enough that is what has been annoying me, i dont remember which version i had previously used but it seems VX isn't a good in that aspect.

Thanks everyone for the offers of help if I need it, I'll be sure to ask if something comes up.
