Nisage 31 Report post Posted April 3, 2009 I'm planning on getting some more games, but I don't know what games to get :( Normally I'd just look on Amazon.com, and/or Gamestop.com to see what interesting games I might like and fine for information on them on others sites by googling. But there are people here that have played interesting games, like Radiata Stories (which I still need to continue playing). So I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a game or four? Oh right, I think I should also mention the kind of game systems I have as well :P The game systems I have are a PS1, PS3 (which plays PS2, and PS1 games) a Wii, and a Gameboy Advance SP, and here's my list so far..... PS2 - Code Lyoko: Quest for Infinity PS2 - Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra PS2 - Tales of the Abyss PS2 - Kingdom Hearts 2 Gamebooklet and Gamecover (still thinking about) PS2 - Digimon World 4 PS2 - Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity PS2 - Rogue Galaxy PS2 - AR Tonelico: Melody of Elemia PS2 - Magna Carta: Tears of Blood PS3 - Naruto Ultimate Ninja: Storm PS2 - Ultimate Ninja 4: Naruto Shippuden PS2 - Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3 PS2 - Naruto Uzumaki Chronicles 2 (Ok, I'm still thinking about the Naruto games) PS2 - Fullmetal Alchemist 2 Curse of the Crimson Elixir PS2 - Dawn of Mana PS1 - Brigandine PS1 - Azure Dreams PS1 - Vagrant Story PS2 - Shadow of Destiny PS2 - Rule of Rose GBA/PS1 - Final Fantasy VI Wii - Lego Indiana Jones</div></span> So....... any suggestions? Wyzrd 12 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 OMG YOU PLAY XENOSAGA. I've yet to play the third one but the first two are great. I love that series. PS3 - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Not sure what else right now.
Nisage 31 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 I have the first two games, and volume 1 of the Anime Xenosaga on DVD :P. I haven't beaten the first Xenosaga game yet :( I've been busy with a few things (that and someone else is playing on the PS3 so I'm unable to play <_< ). Leon 55 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 Okay, PS1 (if you can find a copy) Brigandine. I also recommend Azure Dreams, Vagrant Story. PS2: Shadow of Destiny, Rose Red. Wii, you cannot go wrong with Lego Indiana Jones. I played that game for hours on end. That and Raving Rabids.
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 -GBA/PS1 - Final Fantasy VI. Very good game if you like classic games(Remade 2 times cause it was good)
Nisage 31 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 @Wyzrd: Looks interesting, true I'm not much of a fan on using guns in games (well, certain games are ok) But I'll look at some videos on youtube to gather more information on it. @Leon: I can't seem to find a game called Rose Red, do you mean "Rule of Rose" instead? PS1 games are tricky to find, unless if there's a GameSwap store close by since Game Swap has PS1 games (lucky me then that one is only 2 miles away) I heard of Lego Indiana Jones before, I'll have to see what it's about -minutes later- It's about his first 3 movies in one game, nice. I only saw two of the old ones and the Crystal Skull one, the newer one I believe. @Polraudio: I do like the classic games, my favorite is Shining Force: Ressurection of the Dark Dragon in the Sega Smash Pack 2 PC game (There's also a GBA version as well, but it's different from the PC one. I was able to get a Samurai and a Ninja onto my team in the PC easily, not in the GBA) I bet it must be a pain trying to get all of the Final Fantasy games since there're on a lot of different game systems. Leon 55 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 Yes, I mean Rule of Rose, sorry. Rose Red is a Stephen King novel. ^_^;; Also, did you know you can upload PS1 files into an ISO format? With that, you can use PSXeven to run them on your computer effectively. Makes for a great way to back up your PS1 games. You just need the bios files. I wonder if anyone knows how to get a bios file. Further, you can find said games uploaded by people who intend these files to be used as backup copies if you own the game. Nisage 31 Report post Posted April 4, 2009 That's why I kept getting a book for a result :P I didn't know you could upload them. I did know, well recently found out, that you could try to play them on the computer with an emulator (or download the game for the emulator). But this computer will play them all slowly for some reason :( Must be from the reboots since I think a graphic thing isn't working like it used to. So do you know how to backup a PS1 game(s) then? sinai 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2009 I have to preference this with the fact that I have played all these games so these are first hand opinions. PS2 - Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra Of the 3 titles in the series this one is my personal favorite overall. In terms of visuals, pacing, overall gameplay and combat this was the peak of xenosaga imo. Since you already have the first two this should be an obvious choice. It does feel a little rushed since the series was originally supposed to have 7 installments, but it still holds its own regardless. I am currently working on my 2nd time through this entire series. PS2 - Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity As far as tactics games go on the PS2 this one is by far the most user friendly and least technically intimidating. Unlike titles such as phantom brave, la pucelle, and other NIS tactics games this titles does require obsessive attention to the leveling systems or in items in stats. The alchemy system in here is also not central to finishing the game, but rather makes the game easier and adds depth, not difficulty. I still find myself periodically popping this back in just to mess around with because it is so well done. PS2 - AR Tonelico: Melody of Elemia This game falls into a unique category, and yet is fairly similar to the altier iris games in terms of gameplay. The story here, albeit bizarre at times, is quite unique and entertaining throughout. Another bonus is if you hate spending time and grinding, not once when playing this game did I have to stop to level for a boss or a new area. A major plus since you end the game at 75+. The alchemy system is fairly involved in this title (making it similar to the altier iris titles) but not overly difficult to pick up. The battle system is also very slick and the side plots in this game are great stories in there own right. Who doesn't want to dive into the mind of party members. PS2 - Magna Carta: Tears of Blood This game is a mixed blessing. The game features some of the more beautiful graphics you can find in a PS2 title in the US. Character design, as well as monster/bosses are usually stunning if not near breathtaking. This comes at a cost however. The game takes forever, and I mean this in multiple ways. Half of your time is spent in load screens, which isn't much of an experience. Whether it be for battles or changing maps. The battle system is also slow and clunky, as you are constantly managing natural magic in the area. It adds a unique challenge to the game, but i felt it detracted from it overall and further slowed this title down. This is a title i still haven't completely finished. If you dont' mind long load times and slow pacing this title isn't terrible, just a long investment. PS1 - Vagrant Story Personal opinion, stay away. THis game had some great concepts, such as weapon resistances and monster specific strategies. You had to carry multiple weapons to be prepared for whatever jumped out of the dark. While it was a thinking game and kept you on your toes, I felt it was so cumbersome scrolling through what seemed 20 weapons just to beat down a skeleton. I still don't quite understand why some people like this game so much, but it is there choice. If I may suggest some titles (I have no idea what you have played or own, so forgive me if i stumble across one) PS2 Soul Nomad If you played ogre battle 64, or know of it, think of this as the unoffical successor. Tile based teams are set up and run across the tactics style (as opposed to real time in OB 64). The units then meet and pummel each other, which is fairly standard. The game shines however in the custom abilities you can get by mixing and matching the dozens of unit types. Coupled with the accessories and options for post game madness (think disgaea with the outrageous level options) it is a solid title. PS2 DIgital Devil Saga 1 + 2 One of the darkest rpgs out for the PS2. It is set in a post apoclyptic world with demons and magic. This game is not for the faint of heart as the game itself is quite difficult, i.e. random battles can wipe you if you aren't paying attention. THe plot however is deep, interwoven, and very unpredictable. If you can handle the difficulty curve and the heavy handed violence a great story with an engaging cast awaits. PS1 Parasite Eve I saw that you didn't prefer games where guns are used, but this is still a great game. The plot, while glaring inaccurate (i know too much biology) is still great, if a little gory. Of the ps1 rpgs the graphics are above average (Far better than FF7). THe game is somewhat difficult, below Digital Devil Saga, but will definitely challenged the pummel boss and heal routine you see so often. Hope this helps. I have a much greater depth of knowledge, but I thought this might help you out. If you have any questions, just send me a pm.

It does feel a little rushed since the series was originally supposed to have 7 installments, but it still holds its own regardless. I am currently working on my 2nd time through this entire series. Your second time? Then I'll really have to try and get it then to finish the game series. PS2 - Stella Deus: The Gate of EternityAs far as tactics games go on the PS2 this one is by far the most user friendly and least technically intimidating. Unlike titles such as phantom brave, la pucelle, and other NIS tactics games this titles does require obsessive attention to the leveling systems or in items in stats. I still find myself periodically popping this back in just to mess around with because it is so well done. So you know NIS games? I found out about them when I decided to buy Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana, and Atelier Iris 2: Azoth of Destiny. I'm now a fan of them, and their Alchemy games :) Anyway, the most user friendly you say? I'll have to do more reserch on it then since I'm a fan of Tactical games (like Disgaea, but the Atelier Iris and Mana Khemia battles are still good :)). PS2 - AR Tonelico: Melody of ElemiaThis game falls into a unique category, and yet is fairly similar to the altier iris games in terms of gameplay. The story here, albeit bizarre at times, is quite unique and entertaining throughout. Another NIS game with Alchemy in it? I guess they like to put Alchemy into their games, I'm not complaining, I'm trying to do the same for all if mine as well :P You never had to stop to level up for a Boss battle, really? Interesting..... 75+? Wow..... That's a pretty high level to be at the end of a game. PS2 - Magna Carta: Tears of BloodThis game is a mixed blessing. The game features some of the more beautiful graphics you can find in a PS2 title in the US. Character design, as well as monster/bosses are usually stunning if not near breathtaking. If you dont' mind long load times and slow pacing this title isn't terrible, just a long investment. So the loading is that long huh? Oh boy.... Well if the storyline, graphics, and gameplay are still good, then a little loading won't bother me. And since you already talked about the Character Design, that makes it even better. PS1 - Vagrant StoryPersonal opinion, stay away. 20 weapons for one skeleton? If it's a skeleton enemy, beat it with either a fire-attribute skill/attack, or a light/holy attributted one. If I may suggest some titles (I have no idea what you have played or own, so forgive me if i stumble across one) That's ok, no one has mentioned a game I had so far, so that means it'll happen soon. PS2 Soul NomadIf you played ogre battle 64, or know of it, think of this as the unoffical successor. When I said "soon", I didn't think that soon :P Well technically my brother has this game. I'll have to see if I can borrow it for a while. PS2 DIgital Devil Saga 1 + 2One of the darkest rpgs out for the PS2. Random battles can knock you out? Sounds like fun to me :) Though I don't have that many M rated games..... Actually...... I only have 1 M rated game called Red Ninja: End of Honor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Ninja (I have a M rated Ps1 game, but I don't know where it is) I never did like M rated games, no idea why, just never did. But it never hurts to try them out now, right? PS1 Parasite EveI saw that you didn't prefer games where guns are used, but this is still a great game. The plot, while glaring inaccurate (i know too much biology) is still great, if a little gory. Of the ps1 rpgs the graphics are above average (Far better than FF7). I have a much greater depth of knowledge, but I thought this might help you out. If you have any questions, just send me a pm. It depends on how the guns are used. If it's just a skill that has a bullet animation (or any kind of animation), and hits the enemy (like in Disgaea, Atelier Iris 2, I think Makai Kingdom, and games with those types of guns) then they're ok. If it's the type of guns that just shoot a person, and they die with a bullet or two in their lungs or skull, then I'm not a fan of guns. (No offence to those that like those type of guns ^^'') I'll send one if I have any, or I could post one here about Parasite Eye. I looked on Amazon to find out more on Parasite Eye, and it says it's "Too short, and it's confusing". How "short" is it really? This list is pretty big now, thank you all. Maybe after a post or 2 (that'll have games in them or not) I'll ask a Moderator or Admin to close this. I could also just post saying "that's enough for now, I'll post here if I need any more game suggestions", ask to un-close it since I don't want to make a new post about a topic I already posted about, or I could just keep it open since I buy games at random times :P I don't really care about any necro-posting in here (unless if I clearly say "NO NECRO-POSTING") but since I said I don't really care, then we're fine :)
