Anemoi 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2009 I would have to add CCleaner, a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. Really useful (has helped me clean GBs of useless junk).

Open Office is awesome. Way better than paying for that Microsoft Office when Open Office is free and has way more things you can do with it. I like that you can make PDF's with it. formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Speaking of PDF's.. Foxit PDF Reader: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/ Kinda free, but you gotta pay for the pro features...
Satiel 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2009 Wow, that Net Tools is pretty amazing for free software. Awesome, thanks! Well, I should definitely throw in something. I'm a beginner guitar player. There are tons of Tablature software out there, the most popular being Guitar Pro. Basically, they allow you to read music tabs by seeing the tab actually be played by synthesized instruments. Well, Tux Guitar does the same thing - but it's free. You can even download a Guitar Pro tab and load it into this program. It's really great for learning a song, or even writing your own songs. http://www.tuxguitar.com.ar/ Enjoy ^_^
formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted May 17, 2009 Pretty decent screen recording software: CamStudio: http://camstudio.org/
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted May 17, 2009 Hey i remember this program. So useful.
Marked 197 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 You have Open Office.. I Im seriously rate this really highly. Especially since it can display powerpoint slides, I dont even have to show up to lectures anymore
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 Me too i love Open Office. Way better than paying 100's of dollars when you can get OO for free.
Chief 30 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 grrrr.... who submitted Pain.NET ?? serisouly, I dont get it... GIMP is soooo much betetr by millions of times over. gimp.org get Gimp, and toss Paint.NET into the recycling bin.
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 I tried gimp and i suck at it. then i tried paint.net and i liked it, Then i got PS and ii have been using that. But photoshop is not free so im not putting that on there.
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted May 20, 2009 How about Daemon Tools? It allows you to mount a CD image to a virtual drive so you don't have to scratch up your old CDs. I use it for my old games like Age of Kings so I don't ruin my original disks. Also: TeamViewer, GameRanger, Alcohol120%, Creative Suite 3 (Not free so nevermind..), RMXP FaceMaker... Chief 30 Report post Posted May 20, 2009 Pol, the reason why most people like Paint.NET is that it does most of the work for you. ahs extensive amount of auto filters and such. its not worth the space on your hard drive. with GIMP, you have almost as many graphical optiosn as photoshop when it comes to personalization. Paint.NET is cheating, and isnt even as good... trust me, GIMP and PS are sooooo sooooo much better.
Marked 197 Report post Posted May 20, 2009 I have photoshop, so... it satisfies my graphical needs. So I don't pay attention to free ones. @Kiriashi: The topic's for free programs, I'm pretty sure Daemon tools and Alcohol120% cost money. Although they're pretty useful I'll agree, especially if you're like me and have never bought a CD in your life.
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted May 20, 2009 ^_^ Daemon Tools if free if you get the light version. I use Daemon tools all the time. its my fav program and i cannot live without. I will add the links as soon as i get off the school network cause its blocked. Last day of school so i dont have to worry about it anymore.
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted May 20, 2009 Yeah they rock. Marked, there is a free version of both, so THERE! lol I am trying to think of more...
Marked 197 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Oh, sorry guys. I DID look into when i searched Daemon Tools and saw you could purchase it, so assumed, my mistake. I will increase my warning meter by 10% since you guys ganging up on me. I dont use the mounting tools anymore. I only play games to cure boredom on my ipod :P so no mounting necessary. By the way, I was mounting in early 2007, is it just me or is the first time you try mounting really difficult?
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Hehe, yeah we're totally ganging up on you. We are scheming all the time. Ipod games? Really? Tell me the truth Mark, can you play one iPod game for more than 30 minutes without getting bored? And yes, it is really difficult the first time. Also Lucas, put Winamp on there. I think I might go back to using it since iTunes failed me. You know what I mean.
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Yea i remember my friend made an iso of a game and gave it t me and i had no clue how to use it. But now i can do almost anything with a computer. Using Daemon Tools helps with playing games on the go without bringing a CD.
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Yeah I love it. Mainly because I am paranoid and think I will break all my discs. Its just sooo helpful. PUT WINAMP ON THE LIST!
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 All added. Any other free tools?
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 How about Picasa? Its not the best picture organizer but it is free and easy to use. (CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD)
sinai 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Skype would be a nice option. Who really wants to pay for phone calls?
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Oh yeah. Skype is nice. That reminds me of Ventrilio. Which is just a voice chat program. Also Elluminate Live. (Yeah I know, I spelled illuminate wrong. That is just how they spelled it.)
sinai 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 One issue with Ventrillo is that you need to rent a server, which makes it not exactly free. The client is, but the server isn't.
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 Yeah, but there are a lot of ways to get a free server, legally and illegally.
formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 We went really off topic here...keep it to legal software??
