Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted June 12, 2009 You have a program that most RPG Maker beginners have, you want to make a super mega awesome game on your first go. Basically, you can't. We all have to start slow. My first game was only 5 minutes long, and I have not even released it. All you gotta do is start making small games until yo have learned to do a lot of stuff. Start reading every tutorial that is posted on RMXP.ORG and practice mapping and event-ing, until you obtain enough information to be able to make a normal project. Even sp, don't make your first real project some super awesome game that you think will be hard to make. Only 10% of your requests will come through with results on most sites. When you do make your first game: -Don't do something that you think would be really difficult. This will 'cause you to become discouraged when you can't do something and you might just quit. -Do not rely on other people to help you make your game. People here will be happy to help you when we can, but if we can't, and when others at other sites won't, you are going to be on your own. -Please try not to make a fan game (like a Yu Gi Oh game) because you will defiantly have resource and scripting needs that you won't get. If you do you might end up with part of a game and a lot of wasted time. -Don't start spitting out features and detail for your game that probably cannot be made by you. For example, say you thought of a genius battle system and it fit perfectly with your game, and it would be so awesome, only to see that no one has the time to make a battle system from your favorite TV show. This will 'cause a lot of time planning to go down the drain, I have experience from this one. Just try to keep it simple until you feel really confident. I hope this helps! (Go make a small game and post it here for critique, that will get you started.)
