Im thinking about returing to the roots.

Recommended Posts

Okay, I have a question for all of you... so called 'RPG Fanatics'; Would you be willing to play an RPG Maker game which returns to the roots of RPGs; or do you care too much about your precious graphics, intensive player dialouge, and expansive selection on character customization? As a picture to show you what i mean by 'roots'; I have been debating making a very old style game. Here is a picture to show what i've been debating creating:

If you hold more interest, please, question any aspect.

Well dropping excellent features just for a classic feel is a little over the top, IMO, but I am sure that it would be really fun.

Precious graphics? Meh. But intensive play dialogue, why drop that?

Ever play one of the OLD ascii games such as wizardry? Try it, you'll see what i mean.

Well I have heard you talk of it. Please describe to me how it has to do with a classic based game instead of just a classic game.

it entails the main characters never saying a word. You ARE the characters, in a sense. it is difficult to explain.

You are so quick to say you would play it Polraudio, and I know you would of course, so would I. But do you think it would be interesting and or considered my majority a cool way to play an RPG?

Essentially, you create 6 characters of various races, alignments, and classes; and oyu must take them in to a labyrinth, and solve various puzzles and avoid traps to reach your objective. straightforward, no?

You actually create them? That would be really cool.

It would be even better if you had to setup different parties for different dungeons and form tactics to solve puzzles with the different characters.

Yeah, this idea seems pretty awesome.

Sounds like fun me, I'd like to play :) But a question for the "you can create your own characters" part, is that through a script?

99% of this game would be scripted. In fact, with the exception of the database, everything would be scripted. lol. Including the labyrinths.

As we have already talked, I would play this no doubt Leon. I hope you do it. I look forward to it. I miss the old school games.

Yeah, but you can't make an old-school game, you can make a re-make. :P
