[XP] Ok I feel dumb messing with this event....help?

OK so I have the game start off (after the initial cutscene where the player chooses gender/name) with another cutscene with the player and their friend. The friend need to change based on which gender the player choose. But I dunno how to go about doing that so can someone help me?

 

Im assuming that if I had another event that generally the same that it will also work there such as if you revisit the friend's grave then it will change their name and such.

Hmm... My first thought is to activate one of two switches and when a certain one is on it will change the graphics. But then came the problem of things such as He/She, Him/Her. If you want to do something like that, you could PM me a link to the game and I could work my magic *snap fingers and fairy-dust sprinkles slowly onto the ground* :D .

What exactly are you trying to change on the friend? Name, sprite, speech..?

 

Either way, switches are the things you'll need to use.

So far just sprite and name, but speech may be a possibility also. I dunno how to work switches effectively o.o

Okay, here is what you should do.

First off, make two switches. One for the male, and the other for the female.

Go to the friend's event, and have two pages. On the first page, select a male characterset as the graphic and make the event only available if switch [Male] is on. On the second one, go with a female character and make the event only activate if switch [Female] is on.

 

Now we go to the event where the transferring process will occur and before the the transfer command, set a conditional branch that if it's a girl, turn switch [Female] on. If it's a guy, turn switch [Male] on.

Something like that, except you can save memory and only use one switch.

Male = Off

Female = On
