[Enigma 10]

Chapter 1

 

Niromi approached Yuka, while the other students approached the bus.

"So, Yuka, how do you like your first week at Chance High School?"

"Well, umm... I like it, President."

"Yuka, you don't have to call me President, just call me Niromi, k?

"Alright."

"Good, lets hurry up then. If you want, I'll save you a seat!"

Meanwhile, in the back of the field trip bus, a heated debate was taking place.

"Look Ralph, there is no way Axel would lose to Pirios. Pirios is faster than Axel, I'll admit that, but speed has nothing to do with it. Axel has the Hawkeye and Curse Tattoos on his arm. Not only can he overpower him, he can see all his moves and with Axel having trained 20 years under Sid, he has the most expereince."

"Yah that's right!' argued the boys unison.

"Wait one dang minute Sai. Honestly, I mean no disrespect. But what yah said is crap! Litsen here. First of all, Pirios trained under Neko, who may I remind yah, KILLED SID! She even said that Pirios could kill her! And doesn't Neko also have Curse tattoos! Pirios can kill the person who was able to kill Axel's Master!"

"He's got a point!"

"Don't worry mah boy Sai can top that, right?"

"Hmph. Ralph, I got to say your a worthy opponent but it ends now. Neko was only able to kill Sid, cause she broke her seal, Sid was going to win at the beginning. Neko is a freaking 12 year old, so she has no fighting expereince. When she trained Pirios, she hadn't taught him the curse techniques. Neko said he could kill her because when she released her seal, it weakened her badly. Neko knew that Axel would want to kill her so she fled. If Axel released his seal, Pirios would be done."

"That a huge load a bull!"

"Your mom!"

"Oooooo oh hoho, niceone," chanted the boys.

"Kids like you shouldn't ride big buses like these."

"I can ride whenever I want, Ralph!"

"Heh, that's what she said!"

"Nice comeback," intruded one of the boys.

Closer to the middle of the bus, were Niromi and Yuka.

"Must they always fight about these two video game characters?"

"They've been at it ever since middle school. I know Sai, has been all about Null Hearts for as long as I remember.

"You guys were all in the same middle school?"

"Yah, Ralph came in 7th grade, and I've known Sai ever since I was 4."

"Really, are you guys freinds?"

"Were friends, we kinda drifted apart in middle school.

"Oh...Sorry to here that."

"Its not that big of a deal, I outgrew him, I started working in studnet council and had lots of things to do, he was busy too, it just sort of happened. Sounds like some sort of generic freind loss story doens't it?"

"I think you should hang out with him some more."

"No way, hes a deliquent now. He'll tarnish my"

BREEEEECHcRRRRaaaaak BAM! The bus shuddered and groaned.

"What the hell was that?!"

"Everyone out of the bus!!!" yelled the Ms.Kromely, "Niromi, help with evacuation, I'm going to stand out side and check everyone who has gotten off the bus.

"What happened?"

"Niromi, stay calm and do not panic, the bus was side swiped and broke the railing on the roadside, the rear tires are on the edge of the cliff, any sudden movemnents and it'll collapse."

Niromi immedeatly, began to release the students slowly from the front to the back. Her nerves acting up, she hid her uneasiness. She knew if she paniced, the others would realise how bad it was."

"Ok, I think thats everyone," said Niromi, her face pasty and beaded with sweat.

"Wait a minute, Sai and Ralph are still in there!", said Joey.

"Whats wrong with those two Idiots, didn't they feel the collision?"

"They passed it off as a bump in the road while they where arguing."

"How could they miss everyone else getting out, Damn it! Ms. Kromely, I'll get those 2 out."

"Becareful, I would go in if it wasn'tfor my surgery."

"Niromi, I'll help too!"

"Yuka, why?"

"Your gonna need to balance the weight, and you can't go in alone."

"Ok, but promise me you won't do anything risky."

"Ok!"

With Deliberate care, Niromi and Yuka entered the bus.

"Hey you idiots, GET OFF THE BUS!" yelled Niromi.

"What are yah talkin... hey where is everyone?"

"We are in danger if we stay here we need to get out guys!" pleaded Yuka.

"What's going on?" asked Sai

"No time to explain come"

The cliff face holding up the rear collapsed. The bus was now tettering on the edge.

Niromi paled.

"This has got to be some kind of bad joke."

"Niromi, don't move we have to balance it over on this side!"

"Yeah... once the weight balances we are golden."

"Ralph, I'll army crawl over to the the girls and then you go behind me, sinceI'm already on the floor. Try and put as little weight as possible on the back."

"I got it. Don't worry, I been in deadlier situations that this."

Sai inched across the dirty floor slowly and carefully, like a wounded soldier in a mindfield. Looking straight a head. The new girl with red hair, was really nervous, well, who wouldn't be in this situation. Inch by inch he moved, the tension mounting twofold with every passing second. Suddenly, the bus tilted back. Everyone froze. Any movement would tip the bus, even a simple breath. Then, just as quickly as it had titled, it landed back on its front wheels. A wave of relief passed through Niromi's face.

Then, the bus fell.

I't plummeted silently down the cliffside. slamming into the rocky shore and crushed as if it was compacted at a junkyard. while sinking, the deathtrap exploded, scourching the remains and spilling lit gas all over the water.

No human could ever survive that kind of accident...

Note: I'm doing this as general practice to improve my writing skills, also this is a proposed game idea, just in story format.

Chapter 2

 

The sunlight crept through the blinds, slow carressing Sai's face. He woke up with a jolt.

He did a quick once over of himself. Making sure he was in one piece.

"Was...It all a dream?"

He remebered when the cliff gave way, then there was the falling, and then nothing. It felt all to real to be a dream.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

"I'm awake, come in."

Sai was suprised, to see Niromi come in through the door. She had obviously been jogging, because she was wearing her favorite track suit and her long black hair was tied in a ponytail.

"Morning."

"What's up?"

"Nothing, I was out jogging and I just dropped in."

"Yah haven't visited my house in nearly 4 years, what's bothering you?"

"Can't I just drop by and say Hi once in a while?"

"Niromi, you know just as well as I do that I always know when something is bothering you, I can read you like a book."

"You've always been able to..."

"So you had it to huh?"

Niromi sat down on the desk.

"You mean the dream where we all die in a bus incident?"

"Exactly, Ralph and the new girl where there too."

"The accident, it really happened, I read about it in the news."

"Coincedence?"

"Its to weird though, I can't remeber anything after the bus crashing, just waking up. If we were dreaming that we died in that accident, how come I can't remember what happened on friday."

"What?"

"The accident happened on friday, and I rememeber the day in my dream was friday. But if that was a fake friday, how come I can't remember the real friday?"

"Maybe, we really did die."

"Don't even joke like that!"

"Than how can you explain all this stuff?"

"If we died how am I here talking to you!?"

Niromi was visually flustered now, her breathing shallowed, and she looked sick.

"That's the only reasonable conclusion..."

"No way that can't be true!"

In a frantic rush, Niromi pushed Sai on the bed and pulled off his shirt and then placed her hands on his chest.

"You have a heartbeat right?! Can't you feel the warmth of my hands!"

Suddenly, the door opened again. It was Sai's mother. She stared at the two, Niromi on top of Sai, both of the staring back at her.

"It's not what it looks like!" yelled Niromi, her face bright red.

"Sorry to disturb you two." she said and closed the door tightly.

"Hey Niromi, could you please get off of me?"

"Gah, now your mothers got the wrong idea about us!"

"Oh, and what idea would that be?"

"Shut up!"

"Hey Niromi."

"What is it!"

"Have you been feeling strange today?'

"Yah, some kind of Deja Vu."

"Really?"

"Mhm Hmm, that whole thing misunderstanding with your mom thing, I felt like its happened before."

"Oh, that wasn't what i was talking about, look at one of your nails."

Niromi saw that the tip of of her forefinger's nail was coated in blood.

"Did I cut you, I'm sorry."

"Yah you did cut me, I felt it, but the there is no wound, or maybe its already healed."

"There is no way a cut could heal that fast. Unless...."

"...it had to do with that accident!"

Niromi picked up a pair of scissors.

"Ok, I'm gonna go emo on my finger and see if it heals just like your scratch."

Before she could have any regrets, Niromi cut her finger. She cried in pain as her blood dripped onto the carpet.

Niromi grimaced.

"Sorry about the carpet.."

After a few minutes the blood stopped but the wound didn't heal.

"I don't get it, are you sure i cut you?"

"Here let me see." Sai got up and held Niromi's hand.

"Sai, waht are you..."

The blood on Niromi's skin crawled back into her wound and it closed as if it was zipped up.

"You ...healed me. You have the ability to heal wounds."

"I guess."

"This power, maybe it was awakened by your near death experience."

"That doesn't explain how we survived and appeared at our homes."

"Your right, maybe I have a power or Ralph or Yuka had obtained a power that saved us."

"But this sounds so unreal, getting super powers from nearly dieing."

"There have been cases where humans exhibit super human powers when in danger."

"You think that may be the case?"

"I don't know anything really, we need to investigate more."

"I think we should meet up with Ralph and Yuka, but for now I guess you should be heading back on your way."

"Ok bye."

Sai got up and walked up to Niromi.

"Wait..."

"What is it Sai?" said Niromi, staring directly in his eyes.

"Can yah give me a kiss good bye."

Niromi's face instantly flushed red.

"You bastard!!!"

Niromi was about to throw a punch, but something switched on in her and she kneed him in the stomach right as Sai moved his face to the right.

Sai face was filled with suprise as he clutched his gut, "How did you..."

"Hmph...Jerk. Serves you right."

Niromi left, slamming the door behind her.

Sai regained his composure and place his fingers on his temples.

"She expected me to dodge her right hook and it looked like she was gonna throw one, but then she changed her mind and hit me with her knee. I don't think she had enough time to consider that when she was reacting from her embarassment. It's as if she knew I what I was going to do."

Then it hit him.

"Deja Vu. She felt like it had happened before. Her near death experince must have given her the ability to see into the future."

Chapter 3: Death and Strawberry

 

Yuka gasped for air, apparently she had been screaming because her mother was by her side trying to calm her down. Her heart was pounding and she felt as if she couldn't breathe.

"Yuka, I'm here...I'm here"

Yuka babbled incoherently.

The doorbell rang.

"Honey...I have to get that I'll be right back."

Yuka's mom stood up from the bed and headed for the door.

"NO!!!!Don't leave me..."

"Yuka...I'll be right back."

"NOOOOOO!!!!!!"

 

Blue sparks jumped from Yuka's arm and danced in arcs across her mother. She collapsed.

 

Yuka snapped out of it immediately.

"Mom?"

She wasn't breathing.

"I didn't..."

The door bell rang again.

"What do I.."

Yuka checked her pulse and instantly felt as if the weight of the world had fallen on top of her.

"A dream...this can't be real."

The door bell rang once more.

Niromi knew something was wrong. With a sense of urgency she aimed to press the door bell once more.

The door opened to reveal Yuka who looked like a complete mess.

"Yuka...what happened."

"How...did you find my house?"

"I'm the president, its my job to know."

"Oh"

Niromi couldn't help the reading the worry on her face; without warning she wrapped her arms around Yuka.

"You had it to didn't you? I thought we were the only ones."

"What are you..."

"The dream, Yuka, The dream where we all die."

Yuka poured tears poured out.

"My mom, something happened... I don't know."

"Show me..."

Yuka brought her in and they rushed to the her bed room. Niromi flicked on the lights. The room was a clean shade of beige with white carpet and bare walls, boxes where stacked along the far wall. There were burn marks her mom was standing.

Niromi wanted to ask what happened but she also knew how to read a situation. She also felt that if she asked things would get significantly worse.

Instead she hoisted Yuka's mom on her shoulder.

"We've got to get some help."

"I'll call the hospital."

"No its already to late we need to get to Sai, follow me outside."

"Sai...why Sai?"

"He can help, let me see your phone."

With her free hand Niromi dialed and held the phone up to her ear."

"Hello?"

"Ralph it's me Niromi! I need you to skip the street you are about to turn onto and take the next right, keep going till you see me and Yuka outside."

"How did you get my number?"

"This isn't the time! This is serious!"

"Ok..." Ralph said as he hung up.

"Do you need help? Niromi?"

"Don't worry about it. I'm the president."

Yuka tried to focus on the urgent situation, but she couldn't help but be puzzled as to how her friend could lift her mother up with one arm.

 

Ralph's red chevy pulled up.

"Holy crap!" said Ralph, "What happened?"

"I don't know, but we have to get her to Sai ASAP."

Yuka opened the door and Niromi eased her Mrs. Sakura into the backseat."

 

"Niromi...How did you know I was over on Anderson? And how did you carry her all by yourself?"

"I dunno...Adrenaline...Look we don't have the time for this just get to Sai's house!"
