Marked 197 Report post Posted August 1, 2009 What? You found this place because rmxp.org shut down? That's obviously a bad thing. Well I'm glad you guys stayed here at least. I'm pretty sure RPGRevolution is the biggest rpg maker forum going around, rpgmakervx.net really close behind. The more resources you guys get, the more users you will get. Now is the perfect time to just start ramping up the amount of scripts and things you get on here, because then all of the influx of new people (such as myself) will have more reasons to stay. Our scripts archive has been really popular since I made it(well, its made from a CCK). It actually gets more views than rmxpunlimited.net/, which is weird because that's the first level of the site. The question is though, will that make us more of a leech site? We have over 6,000 members, that figure is catching scarely on our post count. Those are the stats of a warez forum. Some rpg maker forums that I've seen have had 300 members and 20,000 posts. I'm pretty sure that's what Marked is saying. He wants us to be that big. biggrin.gif Correct me if I'm wrong Marked. Hmm, well I want what comes with being big. With a big forum there's a lot more moderation to do, and more conflicts. I mean, we've never been hacked :) Mainly I don't want the forum to be looked over, by developers and members like rgangsta who would never come here if a larger forum wasnt down. j4kl1ng3r 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2009 Yes, leetching will happen, which is bad for bandwidth and whatnot. But you are the admin, think up some way to stop that from happening. I think, moreover, what this site gives the best at is help with RPGXP. Maybe that should be the focus. But a very good script database is probably essential to getting people. Preferably those people who code the scripts is who you want here. We want people to use this site as the help forum and go-to forum for scripts and resources for what they create. The problem is, do we have anyone here that can go to other forums and be like I'm from here and it's a good place. Kicksass No problem, sorry for the late reply. Was hanging out with a friend for a few days and it turns out he didnt have internet, but ill make some with donald and goofy. Forum has alot of posts since I last checked but while I dont specifically remember how I came across this site I'm particularly glad I did. I know i did visit the other sites but...I dunno. They seemed like snobbish jerks and i personally tend to gravitate towards smaller, more close knit and friendly communities. Wouldn't that lead to millions of posts that dont mean anything just to get to the resources? But if they just post to get access to resources, they are undoubtedly going to be spam, necro-posts or as I've we've seen before anything to increase the post count. One guy make a topic, posted the same thing in it ten times: "can I have access to the downloads manager" or something like that. Bandwidth is not an issue. I don't actually know what rmxp unlimited consumes a month. I know the host we're on nearly has an amount we'd have trouble ever reaching. What is an issue is registrations. In july last month, we averaged 17 registrations a day. How many of those 17 members registered each day actually posted on the forum? I would like to stop the registrations. Post count and member count are completely not goals anymore. I don't care what they are, except for there to be activity. (when I say I dont care about post count, I dont just want a big number, just people posting because they want to). The only restriction is the downloads manager. I could manage a life without internet, unless there wasn't PCs. I need them for writing, cause I wrote my book on paper and well, let's say it managed to get a bath and met away T.T Like all the others forums? I highly doubt that; this site is awesome and has way more nicer people on it. Rmk.net is a horrible site with nasty people on it, okay, there are a few people there I met that are sweet. But they turn quickly and start to foam at the mouth if you say something the "masters" don't like. I certainly hope we don't become like the others, sure I hope the best for this forum by getting hits and such, but not to be the same as the others.
