solshadow 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2009 Ok, normally if you play a game nowadays you play as either one of two different types of main characters. The silent protagonist or those that speak lol Now there are pros and cons with each type. Obviously the silent protagonists are less well known to there speaking counterparts but their are exceptions to that rule. Now... Silent Protagonists: Allow for the player (you) to become more immersed in the game Game Devolopers dont have to worry about voice actors Facial expressions are forced to express how the character feels Speaking Protagonists: Have a set personality that allows people to relate Voice actors needed (can be a problem is multiple games have different actors for one character) Sometimes allows for the player to connect more with the character Which do you prefer? Being the silent protagonist, incharge of your actions like Gordon Freeman; the speaking protagonist, who has a personality to match their outfit and outlook on life such as Dante; or a combination of the two, the silent protagonist who speaks at key moments like the Master Chief? *This is to help me decide how my main character is going to be, right now I'm leaning towards silent just because I liked how it worked in Half Life 2*
