that was it I wanted to see if some boy would point that out,

the real question i have is that is zero really a value or is it a concept like infinity, because we treat it like a value, in mathematics. But technically its a value of nothing.

I guesss its a good thing that we cant divide by zero because then 1 would really equal to

in any other value n/n=1 but in 0/0= it would be undefined

but couldnt it be argued that it equals 0. If you have nothing and divide it among nothing then you will have nothing. That should mean it is possible to divide 0 by 0 only.

But if 0/0 doesn't = 1 then what kind of value is that?

at the same time if you have nothing and divide it among nothing then you will have something?

Which sounds like theology(creationism-something from nothing)which leaves the realm of the natural and enters the supernatrual, where math doesn't function correctly anymore.

Sounds like a pretty interesting theory. Admittedly I tried it on the calculator to see what happens, and it just came up with an error. I think the only reason people get confused is because it's the only number that isn't divisible and when you start learning negative numbers at school it makes 0 seem like any other, rather than it meaning 0.

 

I did calculus last year... it was horrible. All these real life situations mixed with hundreds of formulas and graphs and all that other pointless stuff. Still, the papers with worth a lot of credits.
