Chief 30 Report post Posted August 7, 2009 Novalis Forums Novalis Engine is a free open source 2D MMORPG maker created in C++. This engine is cross-platform capable, light-weight, easy to use and very powerful. The goal of Novalis is to create a powerful yet simple and clean development environment for developers of all skill levels. We believe that development should be fun and "just work". C++ Knowledge is not required to use this engine. Features: 100% cross-platform Lua scripting support Complete tool set Custom wrapped engine API Custom API documents MySQL support Fluid character animations Fast paced battle system Much more! Development Screenshots: Default Graphics: If you want all your animations to be 4 frame like this, just add the middle frame to the end. Tiles Dynamic Physics: showcase of the technology for the base rendering engine called SushiBox This is a rope ladder being swung around. its a 2D image in 3D space: Novalis is the engine for people who cant program, yet can still make an MMORPG. SushiBox is for if you are a programmer, and you can download all of the libraries, and make applications yourself. My Own Words: This is by far the best, free 2D MMORPG Maker out there. It has soo many features, and you can make it so that you can program more features of your own. Also, it may seem, from the screenshots, that its on a 32x32 grid, but its not set to anything in particular. you may set it to be whatever you want, for use of 16x16 or something bigger like my graphics. Trust me, this is a great alternative to any game making engine. I am not affiliated with the dev team, I am just a big fan of this program.

Chief 30 Report post Posted August 7, 2009 Thats ok. you dont need C++ knowledge in order to actually use it. i just added that part in at the top. Its only good for making new features and such. so youll be fine without it.

solshadow 0 Report post Posted August 7, 2009 I was thinking of doing a shaman-esque type mmo but the Eclipse engine wasnt powerful enough to handle it so I put it away for a rainy day. I just might just pick it back up with this new software. Thanks for the information
