The Curse of Tutankhamun

Prolouge- The Egyptian Assassins

A man slipped through the corners of a building, making sure to keep quiet. His features were hidden carefully behind a rare black cloak, and he slipped away out of the room. He was making his way through the castle of King Tutankhamun as he passed the servant's quarters and reached the boy king's room. He remembered his earlier talk with Nasht...

“I thought I could rely on you to do this, Kayne. Since you're from the distant future...” said Nasht, scowling at the man, Kayne.

“Master Nasht, you can trust me. I will do it if it is your wish...” Kayne said quickly.

“Indeed... It is my wish, you can do it at midnight. Make sure he stays quiet during his death, though...” said Nasht.

“I will return victorius.”

Kayne slipped into the boy king Tutankhamun's room and silently brought out a dagger. A low grumble from behind him made him jump. There was a woman standing in the doorway, with the head of a cat.

“B-B-Bastet...!?” Kayne stammered quickly.

“I have watched over this young king for many years of his life. I cannot allow you to kill him. If you leave, I will forget your journey this night and let you go free.

Stay any longer and you will be history, as the first attempted killer of King Tutankhamun...” said Bastet quietly.

Kayne lunged at the cat goddess, but she sidestepped away from the dagger only by a few centimetres as the dagger pierced the air.

“Oh well... I was going to kill you anyway, but let's do this the fun way,” Bastet growled eagerly.

She sliced at Kayne with her claws and they tore the back of his t-shirt but he lunged desperately for her. Easily sidestepping another lunge, she bounced down onto all fours and ran behind Kayne. As she did so, her hand snatched Kayne's leg and he kicked right in the cat goddess' face. She was thrown violently backwards and she smashed against the wall.

“You're not from here... Your skill of fighting is good. But you will not get past the guardian Bastet!” screeched Bastet.

As Bastet lunged for Kayne, he slashed into her arm. She screamed in pain as she fell to the floor. The sounds of battle had woken the young king Tutankhamun from his sleep, and he twisted Kayne's arm quickly behind his back.

“Gerroff! Stupid kid!” shouted Kayne, using his other hand to try and slap the boy king off him.

Tutankhamun quickly smashed his entire body into Kayne, sending the two of them flying across the room and slamming violently against the wall.

Bastet recovered quickly and jumped to the wall, pushing Tutankhamun off his attacker and pinning Kayne against the wall.

“Bastet, kill him.”

Tutankhamun's words were fairly calm, even though he was ordering the death of a man.

Kayne quickly slammed his feet into Bastet, and she flew off the wall, surprised by Kayne's attack. While she was down, Kayne threw the knife straight at Tutankhamun, and he died instantly.

“Y-you...” Bastet stammered.

Kayne bent low beside the dead king and took his necklace. Kayne bowed to the cat goddess, and a beam of light took him away from the dead body of Tutankhamun.

Ace has a feeling of fright...

Ace Illusione, a 11-year-old girl, sat grimly in her school classroom. This entire year was going to be studying about Egypt and the boy king, Tutankhamun. Ace hated studying, unlike her friend Mirage. She was brought out of her older thoughts as the voice of Mr. Fraizer echoed through the room.

“As you all know, I am Kayne Fraizer, and I will be teaching you about Egypt for the rest of the year. This is a highly interesting subject and I thought we could start on the boy king. Now, Mirage, what is the name of the boy king?”

Mirage thought for a bit. She knew the name of the boy king... Tut... Tutan... Tutankhamun! That was his name.

“The boy king's name was Tutankhamun, Mr. Fraizer,” she said aloud.

“Very good. He died at age 18, I think, and we are arranging a trip to his tomb. I advise you to study up for the trip if we can go. Back onto other matters, today we are going to read some books from the library about Tutankhamun...” Mr. Fraizer continued.

Ace picked up a book from the make she loved.

The Boy King Tutankhamun by John Athrille

She began reading.

The boy king Tutankhamun was 18 years old on the day of his death. Scientists at first thought he died of an illness, or a natural cause, but now they have found a stab wound to the heart and are currently researching on more of Tutankhamun's death.

The blood of a cat was also found, mixed with the blood of humans. We are researching to find out more about the battling feline... More on Tutankhamun...

Ace stopped reading on the last line of the page. Cat blood? Mixed with that of a human? Bastet could be real if the book was right! She could research a bit more with Mirage after school... But Ace had a strong feeling the murder of Tutankhamun could be mixed with the murders of the last few days...

Ace and Mirage go exploring

A girl sat silently on a large rock. She was about eleven, with long blonde hair and a white baseball cap placed on top of her head. She was wearing a plain t-shirt and cream-coloured shorts. Her white Toppere coat was unzipped and blowing in the gentle breeze.

“Sorry I'm late!”

A tall girl dashed through the beach. Her hair was in a ponytail and a light blue-green. Her gentle mint green cloak covered the rest of her features, apart from a soft blue pair of Toppere trousers.

“I thought so... I was waiting for over an hour on this rock, watching the sea wave,” the girl atop the rock said quietly. “You're always late, Mirage Kariane...”

“I do apologise, Your Highness Cynthiarina...” Mirage said softly.

“Keep it to Cynthia!!!” the girl snapped.

“Of course, Your Highne- Cynthia,” said Mirage.

“Eh, stick it as my nickname Ace...” Cynthiarina said.

“Okay, Ace... Let's forget your high title and keep it as Ace again,” Mirage said.

Ace jumped off her rock and landed on the soft sand of the beach without even a trace of stumbling. As she landed, she began to walk down the beach, kicking washed-up seaweed out of the way. Her pace of walking was quick, and it was hard for Mirage to keep up with her. The unnatural enhanced abilities of Ace, the princess of Kyonne-Hyoone, known as Kyone for short, were unknown.

“Wait for me!” Mirage called, and she darted along, faster than a bullet. Her strange ability to do so was also a mystery, as well as her and Ace's ability of 'magic'. Mirage and Ace kept their magic secret away from everyone, and had no other best friends because of their regular explorations usually needing their unnatural abilities. Because of slight problems with the air, their magic harshly limited. Three quarters of their magic ability could be cut off because of the filthy air on Earth, the cause of it World Collapsing, or mostly known as Climate Change. In some cases, Global Warming was the name.

“Come on, Mirage! We've got to get to Teleportation Island!” called Ace, turning to watch Mirage dart across the beach.

Mirage finally caught up with Ace, and they found themselves stopping suddenly as they reached the sea.

“Hmm. No boats?” asked Ace in surprise.

“Unless you count the Gemming Explorer as a boat, then no,” said Mirage, pointing at the abandoned ship.

“Alright! This is great! But what sort of magic can we use in our limited amount to raise the anchor, and untie the ship?” asked Ace. “Telekinesis? Which isn't proper magic?”

Mirage shook her head and spoke.

“Human hands,” she said.

She untied the rope keeping the ship tied to the lighthouse, letting the ship slowly creep forwards a small bit before stopping.

“Nice one. Okay, let's board the Gemming Explorer and get sailing. But have you ever sailed a big ship like this before? It's usually a small canoe we use,” asked Ace quietly.

“Well, I have on one of our adventures when you were kidnapped by George Au'Kie and me and Vendra saved you,” explained Mirage, boarding the old ship.

Ace leapt from the back of the ship and landed softly onto the deck.

“Thought me ol' Gemming Explorer was abandoned? Not for a good year, kids!” a voice burst out of nowhere.

A short man dressed in a black and white uniform leapt out of a cabin. He was at least forty-six with two bodyguards, Drake and Drane. Drake and Drane were identical twins. They shared the same short brown hair and the long robes of a necromancer. Underneath the robes were barely visible. They wore the necromancer's uniforms, a long black coat. Underneath was their chests.

“Who are you? I don't getcha!” shouted Ace.

“Who am I? Who am I? Why, I'm Lakshman. These are Drake and Drane, my fellow necromancers. I am just a necromancer. This is my ship. You will not leave this ship alive!” the short man screamed.

“You too young to do battle. Master Lakshman using too many resource on youngs,” said Drane.

“Dare you defy me!?” screamed Lakshman, pulling out a new leather whip and hitting the young man hard. He screamed in agony.

“I don't defy Master... Ugh...” Drane repeated.

“Good 'cuz it's up to you to stop those kids! MY necromancy is too much for you to witness. Take them out and throw them overboard. I want none of them- none of them- alive,” Lakshman said, and he raised a metal pole above his head and he vanished.

Drake pulled a pole above his head and struck down, hitting Mirage so hard she collapsed to the floor. She stood up quickly and pulled out a small gun. Drake gazed at the gun and tried to figure out what model it was. He pulled out a book on guns and it was model Hayta v.4.2.

“No hard feelings,” said Mirage.

Her fingers moved quickly and she pulled the trigger and turned to Drane. Ace was kicking and punching the man who was screaming for mercy. Mirage pulled the trigger on the gun and closed her eyes.

“AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!”

“Drane! Are you okay? Drane? Are you alright? Drake, are you OK?”

Mirage forced her eyes open. Ace was shaking Drane, and Drake was clutching his ankle where the bullet had hit him.

“Well. You can use the Gemming Explorer after all.”

The Gemming Explorer's Exploration

Mirage sat in one of the cabins, tied to a chair with a gag tied tight around her mouth. I can't trust him any longer, she thought.

Before she sat in the chair, Lakshman had called up a handful of skeleton warriors who had knocked the pair out before they could use magic. Then Mirage awoke in the chair.

“Are you alright?”

Drake peered into the small cabin.

“No,” Mirage snapped.

“Master Lakshman wanted you to reach Teleportation Island. He says you are his enemies but also his friends. Here, I'll untie you,” Drake explained, and he untied Mirage. He gave her a book about Teleportation Island, and she settled down and read:

Teleportation Island was created in honor of the great Gemming Explorer, a ship used for explorations. It had a small crew of 4 people at first. It had the captain, Reddele, and his son Lakshman. Drake and Drane, their necromancer bodyguards, were the last two. The called themselves the Explorers of Gemming. Rumor has it that previous crews found the mysterious force 'magic' and passed it on to their generations of children. Princess Cynthiarina was part of one generation of their children. Then the Gemming Explorers called themselves 'The Royal Gemming Explorers- Cynthiarina Branch' and created a guild for sailors for other ships all called 'The Royal Gemming Explorer'. Where Cynthiarina was on the first Gemming Explorer, was the name of one of their children. In the north, 'The Royal Gemming Explorer- Lucia Branch'. In the south, 'The Royal Gemming Explorer- Cynthiarina Branch'. In the west, 'The Royal Gemming Explorer- Lucian Branch'. Finally, in the east, 'The Royal Gemming Explorer- Lunaria Branch'. Those children are now the Four Great Princesses of the hidden island Auberelle. As you have noticed, Auberelle is our country. This is all we have on the crews, and this is some of the features of the Gemming Explore-

“LAND!!!”

The loud shout made the book fly out of Mirage's hand and land with a thud on the floor.

“LAND HO!!!”

Mirage stood up and ran into the Sailing Cabin.

“Come on jump off the ship!” Drake's rush of worried words burst through the silence.

“Soldiers are coming after the Gemming Explorer! We must get away! Don't let them see you! The guards of Teleportation Island are after us!”

Mirage and Ace dived off the other edge of the ship, followed by a small army of skeletons and their master Drake. The group stayed underwater for most of their swim. They surfaced behind the action and quickly climbed onto the island.

“A lot of Teleportation Pods. Which is yours?” asked Drake.

“The Egyptian Castle of Tutankhamun,” Ace replied.

The Great Cat goddess Bastet

In a bare room filled only with a throne, the great cat goddess Bastet stood, bowing towards the throne.

“Lord Osiris... I failed to save Tutankhamun from the reaches of Kayne. I am a failure,” she said simply.

The throne was sent flying across the room and it crashed against the wall and made a deep hole. The God of Death, Osiris, stood, almost completely covered in a black robe.

“I thought this was a task you would have to-” Osiris began, but a beam of light smashed into him, and two girls and a man flew down.

“Lady Cynthiarina! Magical Warrior Mirage!
