RPG Maker Game Rating Group

Recommended Posts

Ok, so, I'm not too sure how this would work, but I was thinking...maybe some of the members should form together and make a game rating group. Maybe we could make an extra forum for people to post their games in, and we rate them. Like...I don't mean like...rate them as in say how good they are and what not, but like...rate as in like...ESRB(right?) rate. Like K, T, M, etc. Does that make sense? >> I'm not sure how to do something like this, but I'll leave it to the members to discuss and such.

Well, I saw this,a nd I thought it was a good idea, so im gonna help out. I came up with an idea of what to call it, and how to present it:

Instead of ESRB, how about "RMRB" RPG Maker Ratings Board.

Please try not to double post, there's an edit button...In either case, I like them so far =D But now we've gotta see what other members think, who wants to be part of it, and how we rate the games.

I wasn't getting into a Graphic's Battle. I know I'd lose, and rather fast :P. I was just suggesting we stray away from the whole ESRB style and make our own like the one you did post.

@Emily: Where was the double post..?

EDIT: Either way, if I could, I'd like to be on the RMRB board...it'll be fun rating games :P

Without playing the demo, I'd give it a "T" rating. It's a game that sparks revolution and war. It's all about fighting and things. If I had a demo, I could do a more detailed...rating :P But your topic, I didn't find the download link, or I'm blind.

for the rating system for games I was thinking

C - Child (3-7)

E - Everyone (5+)

ET - Early Teen (13+)

LT - Late Teen (17+)

A - Adult only (21+)

Interesting idea. I can make the rating pictures for those. Hold on..... -Minutes Later-

Couldn't decide which one looks better, so I'm posting them both. (The one on the left is brighter, so I copied it and made the words a bit darker)

So how are they?

Thanks :) I was told that the one on the left, the words look more yellow then orange (that they look yellow-ish orange).

Edit: But if no one can tell the difference, then I'll remove one of them. Maybe...... No idea yet.

Well, we'll focus on the graphics later. For now, we need to decide how we rate games. What guidelines do we use to determine the rating of the game?

Do you mean things like language, violence, blood and gore, thingds like that? Well first for the letter ratings.... Y7, E, T, A, and SR (Y7 = Kids 7+, E = Everyone, T = 13+, A = 18+, SR = Still Rating :P) We could use how Game Companies rate games for rating XP/VX games.

Ok, this'll be a lot to type to here we go.

RatingCV2.png

For Children ages 3-7 the game should:

1. Contain almost no violence, language, or sexual content*

2. Be a happy, fun game supporting the child's development

3. Puzzles games are examples of good Children games.

4. Rapid motion games such as games that involve a lot of intense work to complete levels cannot be in this category.

*: This content is things like revealing tops, kissing, talk of sex, revealing outfits (on both sexes).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RatingE.png

A child 5 and older is still in the developmental stages and is easily impressionated.

The guidelines for K follows the 3-7 age group for this moment. This can change.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RatingET.png

Teenagers are pretty much over the impressionable stages of their life. The guidelines can be loosened a bit.

1. Games can have low levels violence, such as showing injury to a person who gets hit, rather than the person just rolling it off (which would make no sense to a Teen).

2. Games can have low levels of sexual content such as characters with slightly revealing tops, and kissing if it is used appropriately*. (Nothing to show any cleavage).

3. The complexity of games can be higher than allowed in the C and K categories. Puzzles can now be longer and more complex because ET (Early Teens) have a more developed thought process than Children/Kids.

*: Using kissing appropriately is like when you know of two characters who have been feeling for each other the entire game and then at the end after all the hard stuff is done, they finally kiss and the player is all like "FINALLY!!". Think of Sora and Kairi in Kingdom Hearts, they better freaking kiss in KH3...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RatingLT.png

Late Teenagers have an even less strict guideline for their rating group.

1. Games can contain mild violence such as fighting, shooting, stabbing, car racing/destruction, etc. This does not mean to go overboard with the violence. (Grand Theft Auto is an example of overboard violence, do not do that or your game will be thrown into A.)

2. Games may contain up to Mild sexual content, such as but not limited to: Revealing Tops/outfits on both sexes, characters making out (But not like GTA), talk of performing sexual acts (but not as vulgur).

3. Games may contain low to mild language. There is no reason to include a swear word every single sentence that your character speaks however.

4. Games may contain blood and gore (which doesn't fall under violence), but you can't go extremely graphical in it. The player just needs to be able to see that there's blood and that's about it. Adding extra details such as organs or tissues/body parts will get your game thrown into A.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RatingA.png

Adults basically have no restrictions on their group.

1. Games can contain any level of violence that the game creator chooses.

2. Games can contain Extreme Sexual content (but placing actual sex will have a notation in the rating box).

3. Games can contain extreme language (but again, placing a lot of swear words will have a notation on the rating box).

4. Games can contain extreme blood and gore (no notation added for over the top gore).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are just general guidelines I thought about while typing this up...you can change these as you please.

That'll do fine Formlesstree4 :) Though I think we might have to change the age of C amd E since E is kind of in the middle of C, we could make E be 8 and up.
